i'm both amazed and baffled that this argument didn't die in 2016. i'll reiterate, most of us will not be roleplaying San Andreas as an island. I really do not see why this has come up. What is even the benefit of it? Who wants this? this isn't even a murky "everyone has their own opinion" issue like many of the things that need a ruling are. There's literally numbers right there. A more than 10:1 ratio of people who do not support this. and on top of all that, this looks like we're starting off before the server has even launched with an unpopular ruling, in which the views of the community are not being considered. This is a terrible precedent to be starting with.

Hello, As I mentioned on Discord already, due to reasons out of our control we are unable to release on the 24th as originally planned. This is due to real life circumstances and an attempted break-in into my apartment because of which I had to spend the last week and some change making sure my family and I are safe. Although I've gotten some of my time back to focus on the finalizing work I would've been doing, I'm still not 100% back and won't be for the next few days as it's an evolving situation & ongoing police investigation. Can't say this pleases me, since we were going to be able to make it on the 24th but shit happens. Server will come out very soon. We'll post 24 hours in advance once we're ready so you can adjust your schedule. During the time I've been dealing with this mess, the rest of the team was hard at work getting what they can ready & tested. Huge shout-out dev team, leads & the entire staff team. Shoutout to our Discord too which is growing RAPIDLY - love to see all the activity there. You'll see things rolling out this week, such as faction threads being open, new features on the UCP, & other parts of the server before the game server itself opens. I'm sorry but it's not possible. This is very wrong. It is going to complicate things ICly.. How are you supposed to role play San Andreas being an island? What about the factions role playing as MCs up in the map? Are they supposed to be MCs on an island? (I'm sure other people would have better questions related to the illegal scene). What about Nevada, AZ, TX? So if it's an island, where is it exactly? Is Mexico still the closest country to San Andreas (Which is CA)? Or is San Andreas a hidden island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean? Is this island even still in the West C? What're the politics of this island? Is it even a state? Are we going to also RP as if USA has 51 states and not 50 now? Or is it gonna be like Puerto Rico? If it is, are we even supposed to be voting, as citizens of such island? Alright, let's say you have all the answers for these questions. Does this island also, by coincidence, happen to have the same structure, streets, buildings, gangs, and races..etc as California? Or are we going to neglect the existence of California and RP San Andreas as an island at the same time? The people who made the game made San Andreas map like California, there is no other way.

No need for things to get overly complicated when LSSD already handles custody operations. If you want to do that, join their faction and help.

Deja Vu. But anyways. April 1st came early, again. this isn’t going to happen. It seems like you keep making threads simply to try to run another and third law enforcement faction of some sort in the community and quiet frankly it isn’t needed. Join one of the existing ones.

The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department takes responsibility for Custody matters, but only for parole at this very moment. Also, I'm not sure if you can recall this faction a Peace Officer Agency. You'll need this to be granted by the Faction Team which I do believe that is not going to agree with this because we already have two POA's. Sometimes, we shouldn't forget that this is a game and yes, the whole point of it is to portray the real-life, but not to copy it. And also, if you're implementing so many things, people aren't going to have fun anymore. It'll be just about which protocol do you use in X situation.

I don't think this as needed at the start, we do not need another faction to overcomplicate things. LSSD is currently handling custody operations and I believe they are in need of people to help with that. I'd encourage you to reach out to them and offer your ideas/assistance there.

Probation, defined — Probation is granted to offenders accused of misdemeanors or low-level felonies. Probation permits offenders to live and work in the community, support their families, receive rehabilitative services and make restitution to the victims of their crimes. (BY A JUDGE) Parole, defined — Parole is granted to convicted felons that have already completed a portion of their prison sentence. When on parole, you're set free from a facility and able to enter the regular world. You're still under arrest by law. (BY A JUDGE) LOS SANTOS COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENT — LSCPD The Los Santos County Probation Department would be considered another Legal Faction & also Peace Officer Agency. The Los Santos County Probation Department was founded in 1903 with the enactment of San Andreas's first probation laws. Captain Luke Walker was appointed as the first Chief Probation Officer of Los Santos County. This Legal Faction / Peace Officer Agency is the department that handles dynamic and evidence based department careers in law enforcement and community service that range from special enforcement and investigations in addition to housing-based programs working with families and children. A personnel member of Los Santos County Probation Department works with and monitors offenders to prevent them committing new crimes, this includes the monitoring of juvenile offenders. REASONS FOR THIS FACTION: This faction is somehow needed in many ways or forms, reasons of such and details included will all resort back to this title. NOTE: The primary goals of Los Santos County Probation Department are to rehabilitate the defendant, protect society from further criminal conduct by the defendant and protect the rights of the victim. There will be a court system eventually & may or may not be held in game. The court system may allow individuals to receive parole or probation. The LSSD handles Custody Operations, realistically for the TTCF. TTCF doesn't exist from what I've heard, Boiling Broke is the facility for people. With that being stated, LSCPD should handle Probation and Parole as LASD in real life, from my knowledge, only provides support within hearings and inside of the court. They're basically there to keep a individual calm and collected. LSCPD would bring more realism to the game, especially for factions involving the prison like The Black Car. LSCPD would handle Probation and Parole, judges would grant it, and we'd provide general checks, piss test, and more. This would bring more roleplay for illegal-faction members as they'd be on house-arrest, monitored by a probation officer, and so on. This faction would bring more roleplay for the community in general as it persists in more law enforcement duties, but, maintains to handle strictly rehabilitation. CONCLUSION: More information upon this topic will be added on a further notice. Please let me know your thoughts, concerns, suggestions, and so on below. Also reminder, this doesn't have to be implemented upon day of realize, let along be implemented at all. I'm just looking to see you individuals thoughts! If you aren’t willing to accept criticism and answer questions people have you shouldn’t have posted this here. Moving on, LSSD has a parole unit under their custody services operations. If you’re wanting to do that, I’d say join. There are advancement opportunities if you’re wanting to one day become “leadership” but if you’re just posting threads to open a new legal faction with the intention of just wanting to lead a LEO faction it’ll get turned away. I suggest you get known in the community, work your way up like everyone else and go from there.

Does this really require a whole faction?

Chuckles is right. I don't remember it being an island beyond 2016-17. Some people roleplayed it as such earlier but after that period, we did not. I also agree that a broader 'lore' discussion needs to be had. By the end of my time on LSRP there were so many gray areas in terms of what was roleplayed and what wasn't, that everyone just ended up rping their own stuff. It contributed a lot to the overall vibe of "who cares anymore", if I recall. I think the staff team needs to take an active role in forming what kind of server this is going to be because you're right, now is the time to have these discussions. Standards need to be set and points of lore should be agreed upon as a footnote to that.

I know the developers are extremely busy with finalizing the server, so I exclude them from this request: I'd like to see all other members of the management team involved in these 'lore' decisions engage with the public in a live Q&A to answer questionings surrounding not only this, but in regards to everything else that directly correlated to it. A discussion in real time while everyone awaits the release would show engagement and help us understand the thought process behind these decisions that effectively ruins our experience. There is an overwhelming majority voting against this, yet there is still no movement on it. "There is no bridge so there is no connection to the mainland" is a decision that directly contradicts what it is to be a heavy roleplay server. There is no direct flights but we still roleplay going on vacation when we're inactive. There is no prison to separate male and female inmates, yet people refuse to roleplay it as a shared facility. I don't think the management should be setting this precedent, wherein they take things quite literally. It shows a lack of understanding. Additionally, to address Bennemus' comment above: I have been roleplaying on this server from 2007 and never has it been roleplayed as an individual "island" since around 2015, before the server started to focus on realism. San Andreas has ALWAYS replaced California. I don't know where this analogy is coming from. The existence of California has never been acknowledged throughout the course of LSRPs existence.

This is too niche too be a whole separate LEO faction. At this point I agree that LSSD is more then enough to handle it. The Government consists of multiple departments that have nothing to do with each other, but we understand that there's completely no point of even trying to separate them into different factions.

Probation should be worked out between the courts, SD, and state government. It's not needed to be its own department imo.

In all seriousness from my previous reply, I understand that you may want to show that server management has a backbone and are confident in their decisions that they feel are right for the server, but this is not the right hill to die on. Scroll up and look at the overwhelming support for the opposite of what you've just said. You are literally looking at killing the server before its release. As I said in one of my previous replies here, I don't understand why you are adamant with that option when you haven't roleplayed properly in years. Let the community members vote, let the faction team (who as far as I know oppose this decision) vote and come to conclusion how they want THEIR continuity on the server THEY will play on turn out. This is not just my extreme view take on this, but I am sure 90% of the community agree with me on this take. Listen to the people who will actually play than yourself who will be tirelessly working on the server ensuring it flourishes from the backstage.

Los Santos and San Andreas is a direct copy of Los Angeles and California, having the two co-exist is confusing and doesn't make a lot of sense. Replacing Los Angeles and California with Los Santos and San Andreas is the only option that makes sense realistically, the geography of Los Santos and it being an island in the game is almost entirely due to game limitations; having a copied and pasted Los Angeles, plonking it off the coast of California and calling it Los Santos is a little ridiculous.

San Andreas is California. It would make no sense to RP the existence of both when they're literally identical.

Most of my favorite memories of LSRP are thanks to the great Valenti crime family. The group of roleplayers that have come through this faction across many eras was simply phenomenal in terms of their realistic IC approach, roleplay quality and dedication. The roleplay throughout the family's many phases of dominance, internal power struggles, wars, indictments, downfall and resurgence has been incredible. There are way too many people to name but thank you to everyone who helped make Valenti what it was and for the countless hours of top-notch roleplay over the years. Here's what comes to mind: - Joining the server, faction hopping and learning the ropes in 2009-2010 (shoutout Florencia 13, Palmira, Auberg, Fiumano, The Townies) - 2009-2011 is my favorite era of LSRP; the screenshot culture and the antics of management that came afterwards really took away from the game - Attending Santino "The Butcher" Valenti's going away party before finally joining Valenti in 2011; roleplaying with and learning from the old guard was something special - Big thanks to Nicholas_Diopare, Pellicano, Donald Duck, Corsaro and Cahneggs who were incredible mentors for me personally and provided great leadership for the faction back in the day - The Rigazzi Crew - The Pellicano Crew - The Diopare Crew - The Busato Crew - The Nastasa Crew - The Carna Crew - The Grumo Crew - The Malacci coup - My Martin Busato character getting made and his two mentors, Charles Pellicano and Donald Rigazzi, surprisingly attending the ceremony after a long hiatus - The handful of Valenti induction ceremonies I was fortunate enough to attend/conduct - The Kaplan Brigade and the highroller card game we hosted in 2013 - Crazy Vatos 13 was fun - Leading the Valenti comeback (2015-2016 and 2018-2021), reuniting with many of my old friends and working together to revive the LCN roleplay scene for a new generation of players - 2011 and 2018 are my two favorite Valenti eras that I was a part of - Interactions with the Wilcox Organization and the D'Aquila family Good times.

I honestly expected for the launch to be longer than what the date we've set rn, devs are working hard and it's much appreciated. Same goes for admins/testers who keeps making sure everything is alright, dealing with a bunch of trolls on Discord
