Hello, We're still hard at work and today I'd like to give you a few development updates so you can see what we've been cooking up. Before anything though - I KNOW! You want to see some of that juicy illegal faction action. Drogas, gats, theft, all of that. Well sorry but not today. The Faction Team + some other members of our team have been hard at work preparing a thought-through bullet proof scheme to give our illegal scene the attention it deserves. LS-RP prides itself on being home to the most legendary factions of any online Roleplay community and we want to be sure we're doing things right before we start parading them around. So shoutout to all of you and I promise I'll show you some stuff you're going to love soonTM For the time being, let's talk about our clothing system. Which is your favorite hoodie? Is it Drawable 92, texture 12? Or Drawable 200, texture 0? You know... the yellow looking o-- forget about it. Forget about sliders and arrow buttons to click through every clothing item out there. Highlights The system is entirely integrated and you will never have to think about an undershirt again. If a shirt has an undershirt counterpart, the system detects it and uses it. There are no concepts of "undershirts" visible to the player. You can see a preview of any clothing item in your inventory, or in a store - without even trying it on. Some items have alternative states (hoodies with hoods on, unzipped jackets, etc). You can switch between those & the system will match your perfect undershirt for it. Just make sure it's compatible, or you'll be walking about with your belly button out. Clothing items are inventory item entities, which means you can store them in furniture (drawers, closets). They can be placed in bags, given to other players, stolen, etc. Different stores will hold different types of clothing items. Don't go looking for a fancy suit in Sub Urban. We're adding custom models for clothing. We aren't decided yet whether to use IRL brands or not. Let me know what you think about that. We're preparing electronics stores, character applications (which should open soon for our Patreon supporters), Kane's cooking up a great damage & death system and much more. I would like to see this gone. This should not be the goal, the goal should be to portray a realistic police department with what's given to you on hand, basing the department off of the lapd and portraying them to the best of your ability whilst adding your own twist to make it unique. 1:1 should not be the goal as you'd throw away suggestions simply because the "lapd doesn't do that." when another department might/ it might make sense for a game. If you really "strive as a faction to be 1:1 with the LAPD" have everyone name themselves after a LAPD officer and just name change the faction to the lapd, as this would meet that goal. The strive should be "Portraying a realistic police department based off the LAPD". Police departments tend to change their policies to match the community at hand, the Los Santos community will be a lot more "active" than LA with the crime statistics alone given it's low population but most likely very high crime rate.3 points

I think this area could be expanded undoubtedly when it comes to drugs, there are plenty of options that they could pursue in this field. I would personally enjoy seeing the server implement some sort of cultivation system for drugs such as marijuana and shrooms to start with, this provides less administrative overhead and creates a player driven market. If that were the case I would anticipate to see some sort of lighting feature specifically tailored for their purpose of growing plants like marijuana (which could be a purchasable and furnishable item in a property) on the server that could add a completely new dynamic to the game as a whole. Here are some ideas off the top of my head that will be listed below, some being a little more in depth than others but you could always simplify them more if you wish. Having the option of purchasing two different types of lighting when it comes to growing, it's not a hard concept for a player to grasp and it creates a choice that the player must make on their own if they're in the shady business of growing marijuana. • High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting fixtures, one of the most common and affordable lights to purchase on the market however; it consumes more electricity and, making them less energy efficient and more expensive to actually use but at the same time has been proven to have increased plant yields and potency than it's competitor in the next bullet point below. • Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting fixtures are commonly used in stealth growing operations. Well known to be a discrete alternative under the watchful eyes of law enforcement; they're almost double the price than the regular (HID) lights given their newer technology but are more cost effective when it comes to power consumption, suffering at the cost of lower yields per crop. This ties into the next subject which I won't get too in depth with as it's not the main point, that being power consumption and expenses per property. If we could add some sort of regular power bill maybe that's adjusted to what the actual building is such as residential or industrial for example, maybe industrial buildings costing more in electrical payments to sustain their business? I think that would add to the uniqueness of this concept and the server as a whole. It makes people think about the decisions they have to make in order to be a successful criminal in today's world. As some people know law enforcement commonly uses people's power consumption in combination with evidence they have gathered or tips to tell if someone is growing inside of a property and actively investigate that individual's activities. This opens vast opportunities for illegal role-players and gives the player more control of what they're trying to accomplish with their operation. Should you purchase higher end lights that uses less power so you fly under the radar and can grow inside of a apartment or house with ease? Giving you more concealment and a lesser chance of being detected? Or do you buy the cheaper basic lighting that costs more on the electrical bill but in return is much more generous in yields and potency? Do you mask using those powerful lights by growing inside of a industrial facility that on paper uses more power than a house so you can hide your illegal activities from law enforcement? The scale of ideas that can come from this are immense. Other notable things that could be added into a drug system are things like potency, something that can add additional value to certain kinds of drugs. Creating more production tools to craft certain drugs such as pill pressers or cutting agents would again put the player in more control of their operation and add to the overall health of the drug economy on the server and role-play as a whole. Lastly something for the consumer end, having different forms of drug paraphernalia that are actual items such as syringes, pipes, grinders, rolling papers, bongs and vaporizers could all be the cherry on top to a refreshed drug system. It's exciting to think about the possibilities this one system alone has the potential to bring to the table, especially on a client like this.2 points

Love the UI, although I hope it won't affect the client performance too much. IRL brands should be added, players will decide what they want to wear, and what they don't, and we can avoid people modding their games and seeing them wearing checkered t-shirts, with invisible hands.1 point

The moment you lose assets over a ck it's time to no life again and focus on something else other than roleplaying. Let us keep our hard earned money and assets. Good roleplayers will never integrate something that doesn't fit their character but sure as hell takes the stress away.1 point

As I start to read this thread I begin to lose my hope. This community is supposed to be better, different and not another server that's blatantly copying the competition. These donation perks are just fucking stupid. Roleplay rules always were, that a CK is a charcater kill. You lose your assets and your progress by, sometimes, poor roleplay decisions or just bad luck. These so called "Name changes" give the players a clarification, that no matter what they do, they will keep their assets as long as they pay for it. Everything else seems okay, the perks of setting a custom plate and such as a donator provides you with a reason to donate. I also understand why donators want to have exclusive vehicles for themselves. I don't see anything bad in this. But, pets. Come on, bruh? Are you expecting people to pay a solid amount of money to have a virtual pet running after them in a game? This is straight up stupid.1 point

Implement realistic budgets and stick to them! Others have attempted this but it just ends with staff spawning money. LAPD and every other department in the US. work off a tight budget that is voted on annually. Depending on where it falls it can adversely effect a number of things. New Officer hiring could increase or decrease based on the budget. Officer retainment could suffer, budget shortcomings could result in less officers. Department expansions hinge on the budget, the all mighty dollar and it takes a lot of them to run. This s a source of contention for almost every large department in the US. Lawsuits affect the departments funds and in return puts very realistic pressure on the department heads to make sure people are on point and money isn't wasted. Host a community fundraiser to help raise money. It happens all the time in the US to fund even the necessities... Example 1 Example 2 This could easily provide RP that isn't about kicking in doors and shooting people... its community outreach. Budgeting for employee ammunition would be critical and put much needed checks and balances into the department. Why did Officer J. Smith request and use over 1000 rounds over the past month? All interactions with LEO's don't need to end in gun fights, arrests or police chases. Lets put initiatives forward to get cops out of cars and walking, doing beat work or other examples like.... Outreach Project in the Projects - These officers show up and coordinate with the community leaders to host a cookout, a charity event... a game of pick up basketball or maybe there is some excess budget for the year and they purchase and donate bicycles to the inner city youth gangbangers in Rancho, just a quick example. Pancake Charity Breakfast - Raising funds to get officers some new equipment. ♥️1 point

Hey all, As we announced earlier this month, we're opening up the Community Forums to everyone tonight! We did our best to set up all boards that are necessary for now, if you feel like something's missing then you can share your thoughts in the General Discussion topic on forum improvements. We did stress-test the forum, but nothing really compares to real-life traffic, so please bare with us in case of any issues, we'll resolve them as soon as we can. Character Applications I'm sure you're wondering if you're going to be able to create a character before the server launch and the answer is - yes of course! We're already working on a new and improved application system. The applications are set to launch in advance before the server opens for you to get your character ready. In order to not overwhelm our team with handling applications, we're going to open Early Access Applications on the 19th of October, for everyone who's a "Early Supporter #2" or higher tier on Patreon at the time of submitting their application. This perk is also a replacement for the Community Forum Early Access perk, which becomes invalid tonight. Need to remember that pets are NPCs that the server needs to keep track of. Not sure how well NPCs are handled by Rage but I imagine it would cause server lag if everyone could have a pet spawned at once. As for the namechange stuff, people plain don't like to lose progress even if that's how it should go. I remember when I could spend hours and hours of my day, playing and slowly obtaining whatever material items I got so if I lost them, while shitty it wasn't the worst thing if I knew it was coming. Nowadays I'm lucky to get 2 hours in, if that, because we all enter the real world at some point. Some of us simply can't put that much time into it anymore and having to completely start over from scratch for whatever reason makes it that more likely we simply won't play anymore. Also its still just a game, you can't have complete realism like that when the main point of it is having fun.0 points
