  2. If you’re looking to make money on LS-RP and are wondering how to do so, remember there are many ways besides the traditional routes of trucking, lawn mowing and fishing. There are various schemes in place which aim to promote and reward anyone who provides roleplay to the server; whether legal or illegal. This isn’t Euro Truck Simulator after all - it’s a roleplay server! Let’s take a look at some of the options that are available to you right now, broken down into illegal and legal schemes. Illegal Schemes There are many separate schemes in place to help illegal factions thrive, and thus help illegal characters earn some cash. For a full list of schemes click here, but otherwise read below on the ones specifically related to how characters can make money: Contraband Scheme Want to be a smuggler? You don’t just have to limit yourself to the traditional guns and drugs route; why not try smuggling (and selling) cigarettes, alcohol, jewelry and more? The contraband scheme is there to be as flexible as possible, giving your character access to smuggled-in items that they can sell for a profit. Property Scheme Thinking you might have to save up for a big faction property where all your homies can live? Not so - just take a look at the property scheme and make an application for a complex. You’ll even be given the opportunity to furnish in and around your faction’s property for free (for now!). Drugs Scheme There’s money to be made in drug dealing, and it’s not hard to find yourself a supplier through the Darknet. Apply for this scheme and get out on the streets to peddle your wares, trying to make as much profit as you can whilst being careful enough to avoid law enforcement. Weapons Scheme When words aren’t loud enough, a gun usually is. Not everyone has a firearms license though, and not everyone has the cash to buy guns legally. The solution? Think about becoming a dealer in illegal firearms. Signing up for this scheme gives you access to the Darknet, where you can purchase guns in bulk and sell them on the streets for profit. Coming soon: Scenario Scheme Thought of a unique scenario like robbing a gas station, hacking a server, and so on? Watch this space, we’re working on our ‘Scenario Scheme’ which will reward you for certain unique criminal activities - but of course there will always be risk involved! ____ Legal Schemes Want to run a company that’s not necessarily supported by the script at the moment, like a construction firm, news agency or an electrician company? Look no further - we’ll be happy to support you. By meeting just a few requirements you can get roleplaying in no time, and thanks to our company grants scheme, you’ll receive money regularly to help you stay afloat and thrive. Passive Companies Want to run a company that’s not necessarily supported by the script at the moment, like a construction firm, news agency or an electrician company? Look no further - we’ll be happy to support you. By meeting just a few requirements you can get roleplaying in no time, and thanks to our company grants scheme, you’ll receive money regularly to help you stay afloat and thrive. You’ll also receive a property and four vehicles for free! We will always be happy to discuss ways in which your passive company can earn money on the server, and of course we’ll be keeping an eye on suggestions for any script implementations that could make your roleplay more enjoyable. Active Companies (Business Leases) We periodically open up the opportunity for players to apply for business leases, running businesses such as night clubs, bars and restaurants - all of which are currently supported by the script. Think you’ve got what it takes to Simply find a free spot on the map and submit your application. Active Companies - Costs Covered All companies being set up through the business leasing scheme get a variety of benefits, including: Free furniture for the initial fit-out All costs covered for paying staff All costs covered for company advertisements Blips added for businesses on the map We know that active companies in particular are essential for providing roleplaying hubs that really make the city feel alive and immersive, so we’ll be doing everything we can to ensure that these ventures are both profitable and fun to manage. Coming Soon: Government Contracts We know that a massively-requested feature is the ability to run your own company supported by existing script features, such as a logistics or waste management company. This is very high on the priority list, keep an eye on the announcements channel on Discord for when more info is available! We know that many of you love trucking, lawn mowing and fishing, but don’t forget that there are many other avenues open to you for making good money, and this is before we even talk about legal factions like the LSPD, LSSD, LSFD and LS Government - all of which are great options too. The economy is still in its infancy and money is getting pumped into the server slowly and carefully, but there are still plenty of options listed above for making some cash, and more in the pipeline too. The key thing to remember is that we’re a roleplaying server, and we’re happy to consider any idea which rewards good quality roleplay, particularly when it involves interactions between characters. If you have ideas for more schemes, make a suggestion! Even so, we know many of you continue to have concerns about the economy. As such I reached out to Mmartin for further comment, but due to his ever-busy work schedule, we were only able to get a statement from him via his press secretary: “The decisions we’ve made regarding the economy are bold. Bold moves are the ones that shape the future. Apple removed the headphone jack from the iPhone; we removed sports cars from every corner and brought roleplay from the sheets back to the streets.”

  3. If I can sum up my thoughts on this in a sentence - It's a great idea that isn't going to happen. I essentially hail from places like this. Some good 10 years ago there were popular and populated private world of warcraft servers that were dedicated solely for role playing within the universe (prologue, legacy, wake and etc) It was honestly a much better platform than SAMP. Most of the WoW mechanics as you know them were obsolete and unused. It was all designed for role playing and storytelling in mind. We had great things like dedicated teams of Dungeon Masters and the world around you was legitimately shaped by in-character events. Think about a couple of actual months of a DND esque in-character campaign in Northrend to kill the Lich King, and the world actually changed during it. Stuff was destroyed, stuff was built. Your progression was mapped in. These kinds of servers, for the most part, had that hardcore design philosophy that you speak of. If you die over the course of role play (granted everyone involved adheres to rules, standards, roleplaying fundamentals and etc) then you are dead. Your character is no more. Honestly? My fondest role playing memories are from there. The roleplaying quality overall was ten times better than 99% of what GTA ever had to offer. The level of detail and effort put into concepts was next level. Most importantly, in-character behavior was extremely immersive and realistic, few people were going around doing stupid stuff, because there were actual consequences. The fuck around and find out policy applied in full effect. That created amazing roleplaying depth and quality, but the community obviously was also toxic and elitist. I'm not going to go into the pros and cons of such a system, every kind of design philosophy - whether ours or the one we speak of has these. The point is - that kind of thing is very niche, exclusive and borderline elitist. This has never been GTA's demographic and these topics usually spiral into a fun v. realism debate, where most people will advocate that they don't want realism to the point where one wrong move can end their heavily invested into character. They want to have fun. The elitists will say that the real fun in role playing is when you do it hardcore. Neither side is wrong. All in all, again - this is a great idea that will not happen as the majority of GTA RP playerbase does not want an experience as hardcore as this. Which saddens me, but oh well. To add some uncomfortable truths, LSRP has lowered its standards as of 10 years ago as well. Obviously most of the old role players and concepts have improved and gotten better for a decade, but in general - I remember when "not fit for LSRP" bans were flying hourly. Nowadays you have to /really/ go full retard to deserve this. If I can offer a middle ground, I would propose: - More accessible CK applications/mechanisms. - Actually functioning role play quality team. Basically an administrative team that can slap players across the wrists, even when they aren't necessarily breaking some set in stone rules like metagaming. E.g. A billionaire who drives a rented taxi "for fun". May not be the best example and people will play devil's advocate for that one, but you get the point. EDIT: For all it is worth - I whole heartedly support this.

  4. Hello, I'm happy to announce starting today we're introducing a Referral Program. The LS-RP Referral Program allows you to earn Credits by inviting your friends to play Los Santos Roleplay. After signing up to the program, a unique link will be generated for you. You will receive credits for any player who clicks your link and starts playing LS-RP. You'll be able to use the Credits to redeem any items from the Premium Store. When a player invited by you spends 36 hours in-game across all their characters, you will receive 500 Credits. For any credit purchases made by players you've invited, you will receive 10% of their value, regardless of their time spent in-game. Any player signing up through your referral link will also receive 500 Credits after spending 36 hours in-game. For example, if a player you invited spends 36 hours in-game and purchases 2500 credits, you will be awarded 750 credits in total. This is one of the few initiatives we're starting to get more people interested in the server. Word of mouth is more powerful than anything, so if you're referring your friends to the server, we want you to have something in return. This isn't applicable retroactively, so it can't be used for any players who've already made an account. Applying it retroactively would open a whole pandora's box, so we decided against it. The system is live now on the UCP and you can find it in Premium Central > Referral Program. Yours truly, Martin

  9. The main problem is that, unlike some other platforms - GTA RP servers feature /a lot/ of RPG elements to grind towards. Say, back in WoW, we still had systems and all, but that was nearly not as focused on as it is on GTA. Most of the stuff was easily accessible and you could do whatever you want from the get-go as opposed having to first have 5M in the bank to execute/portray it. There's simple solutions like keeping your assets, albeit losing your character, which aren't ideal - but that's not the point. The point is that you're overestimating the general public, most of whom do not see roleplaying as a collective storytelling exercise, but rather a virtual world they want to be on top of. There is a lot of playing to win, a lot of main character syndromes and what-not. This has created an OOC culture where people want to put in the work, so they can be able to flex about it. The whole "storytelling" element has taken a backseat (in general, theres GREAT FACTIONS) years ago. Edit: Personally, I get you completely, and I agree with every single point you made for this. The unfortunate reality is that the majority of the playerbase historically has not liked this, and LSRP management after all wants the place to be populated as opposed to 20 elitists hanging around and watching each other's every step.

  19. Some things are a little bit confusing or haven't been extensively toyed with, which is fine. I believe that the things I'll list below are no more than teething, growing pains for the server that every community has to experience in some shape or form. Lack of things to do. Currently, most players are focused on getting a head-start by grinding out script jobs. Be it trucking, mowing lawns or trash collection. This means that roleplay happens scarcely and it's not a whole lot more than just a fleeting interaction between two strangers and it's mostly just a short breather from the next script job. There aren't any businesses around, nor are there any meaningful ways to interact with people without going to the script job spot and trying to start up a conversation with people who are watching a Netflix show on their second monitor and are barely paying any attention to the game because they're doing a repetitive task on autopilot. Maybe this is a differential due to me playing at some wacky/strange times, but I feel like I find myself wandering around a lot. Textbox/chat limit. The current iteration of the chat is very restrictive and limited. It's around 140 characters, I believe. 250 characters would be a lot better, but if that's too much of an ask, 200. Maybe it's just a me problem, but the current chat limit is insufficient for my basic dialogue and it looks very ugly when I have to chop it up into three pieces. Ideally, we'd have it going for a lot more than that, and if people spamming it are a concern (trolls will do this once in a while), they can be reported since I don't see this being spammed and going unpunished, it's kind of effortless to regulate if an issue crops up. You either did spam it or you didn't. If advertisements and other global channels are a concern (which they should be), then those can keep the current limit or have a reduced character input limit for brevity. Taxi & /acceptride As it stands, when you want to drive people around in a taxi, you do /acceptride. That is all fine and well, but the issues with this are that if you tab out for minute to check something, or just leave your computer for an unfortunate second, you will miss the ride request, and you have no way to check if there's any outstanding fares. A command like /listrides (that lists the 5-10 last rides, or opens up a scrollable menu) would amend these issues, as well as having /acceptride print different text. Instead of just a popup saying "Invalid Ride ID - Most likely accepted by someone else.", it should print something like so: Ride Accepted for when you accept a valid and outstanding fare, Invalid Ride ID for when you accept a ride that does not exist. (e.g. /acceptride 89, but the last made ride is ID 73) Invalid Ride ID, fare completed for when you accept a ride that another driver is handling or has handled in the past. This would bring a lot of clarity to taxi stuff and would be a tremendous quality of life addition. It'd also be nice if the rides appeared in chat as opposed to a popup by the minimap, or an option to choose between the two would be really, really nice. Also, the wiki has nothing about taxis at all, same goes for trucking, which is probably one of the more popular jobs on the server at the moment. Logging out and spawning. It has been mentioned before, but logging out (and logging back in) should give you a prompt that lets you spawn on your last location. Upon connection loss, the server should log the player's XYZ position and the dimension respectively, and if they choose to respawn, put them back in there. If they do this in an interior and getting people to spawn in those is finicky, could put them at the interior entrance. Faction recruitment. The server had just started, yes, but this ties into the lack of things to do. Some players like myself simply don't see them grinding out a script job. While yes, I do taxi people around, I focus on the chatter during the ride as opposed to slamming out thirty fares a second, hopefully providing people with some passive roleplay on their way to the next grinding spot. I just don't want to do a script job, I just want to tell an interesting story. I think factions are a great way to do so, and while they're around, it seems like none of them are recruiting and have no indication as to when they will start. Here's a comprehensive list of legal faction recruitment timetables with their sources. LSPD - Closed/TBA ( https://police.lsgov.us/viewforum.php?f=391 ) LSSD - Closed/TBA ( https://sheriff.lsgov.us/viewforum.php?f=233 ) LSFD - Closed/TBA ( https://fire.lsgov.us/viewforum.php?f=41 ) City - Mixed ( https://forum.lsgov.us/viewforum.php?f=6 ) - It seems how there's some recruitment going, but the focus appears to be Public Works & Traffic Officers, with other positions such as Social Services, Office of Finances, Licensing Bureau, Medical Examiners, Port Authority and Public Health have no information available at the present. I think that players would have a lot more incentive to roleplay with their faction-mates if given the chance, but there's really a lack of things to get into as a new player that aren't mindless grinding or wandering around. I hope this helps even a little bit and I look forward to seeing what's in store!

  23. Oh, hello there, [Player's Name], We are just over the moon thrilled to read your oh-so-constructive criticism of our roleplay server. The level of sarcasm you've sprinkled throughout your post is simply astonishing. But fear not, dear player, we are more than ready to respond in kind. You see, we are absolutely delighted that transitioning to a realistic and immersive economy has left you feelin' all warm and fuzzy inside. We apologize profusely for creating a system that challenges your desire for instant gratification. Who needs meaningful progression anyway, right? We'll definitely take note and revise our entire approach to cater exclusively to your whims. Ah, the favoritism accusation. That's a real gem right there. We are thrilled to inform you that our team members have been secretly organizing favoritism parties, where we hand out all the goodies to our dearest friends while you, my friend, are left toiling away for minimum wage. It's like a modern-day fairy tale, where only the chosen ones receive the treasures of the land. We are truly grateful for your suggestion to abandon any sense of realism and hand out duffel bags filled with virtual goodies without any justification whatsoever. Who needs immersive roleplay when we can just throw random items at players without rhyme or reason? It's the recipe for unparalleled excitement, isn't it? But fret not, because we have been diligently working on our ego-stroking skills. Nothing brings us more pleasure than making everyone dance to our arbitrary rules while we sit back and bask in our supreme authority. You are absolutely correct in assuming that none of our admins will ever experience the agony of spending hours on end fishing at Del Pierro pier. We just sip martinis and laugh maniacally as you grind away, my friend. In conclusion, we are truly humbled by your incredible insight and wisdom. Your suggestions will undoubtedly guide us on the path to becoming the greatest server of all time. We hope you continue to bless us with your delightful presence and your invaluable feedback. Sarcastically yours, [Your Team Name]
