Heyo kiddo, it's too early for me to be writing this (seriously who gets up before 9 am on a Sunday) but here I am! Jumping straight into the script update, here's the changelog: - Added the ability to re-bind the Y to unfreeze button in /settings - Added a way for legal factions to toggle roadblock messages in /settings or via /togroadblock - Added /rb as a macro for /roadblock - Added better checks for /enter and /exit in a vehicle, so you should keep the passengers you used the command with - Added /setstation keeping the same volume when changing stations in cars - Added a 50% increase in rewards to both trucking and garbage collection jobs (this will be offset by a 33% cut in Cypress Logistics) - Added vehicle registration history to the MDC - Added a way for admins to set a vehicle's wheel colour - Added faction-specific loadouts to /loadout - Added a way to /lock furniture doors without being a property manager if you are in the same faction that owns the property - Fixed /towcars for companies again again again - Fixed /respawnme teleporting your vehicle into your spawn point with you - Fixed seeing heal messages if another player was in the same area but different dimension - Fixed not being able to create faction ranks with brackets in the name - Changed prison commands to be in the same radio message format as other radio messages Weapon Economy The weapon economy has been hotly talked about recently, with legal factions arguing there are too many PF guns being used as crimes, civilian roleplayers arguing that PF guns are too expensive, illegal factions arguing that there is too much trigger happiness over the smallest beef - we have recently implemented a solution that we hope will help in solving these issues. The Faction Team Council has now implemented an OOC cap on buying weapons - it was decided before that there would be no cap to help factions get established, however now we feel we are in a place where factions in the scheme are established as black market gun dealers and we can safely begin limiting the amount of guns that flow from the darknet into factions' hands. This is handled the same way as we did on SA-MP, through OOC points. For those not in the know, certain guns (like an AK-47) cost 3 points, whereas a pistol costs 1 point (these numbers may not be accurate). A faction with 15 points has a choice, buy 5 AK-47s in a month, or 15 pistols. You get the idea - larger weapons will become rarer as a faction tries to balance what guns are brought in versus what guns end up in the hands of a dead mobster. Alongside this change, the gun store weapons will also be reduced in price back to the levels they were at, meaning legal guns will be around the $500 to $800 range for a pistol again. In addition to this price change, we are implementing OOC bans. You, as a gang member, are welcome to buy a gun at a gun store (as long as you don't have a criminal record). If you use that cheap legal gun against police and they end up killing you, the license will be revoked after your death and a PF license ban will be issued on your account, meaning you cannot legally buy guns on any character until it is appealed. The point of this system is: don't get caught killing police with legal guns. You can now see whether a gun is legally bought by right clicking it in your inventory. It will show a serial number. Server Connection Issues For the last week or so, we have been getting reports of connection issues from some people. It seemed at first that these people shared something in common, i.e. the first report to me was that a group of Bulgarian players were not able to connect with their normal ISP, but could via mobile data. The issue seemed to spread to people from other regions and there didn't seem to be anything in particular that connected everybody. We asked for logs and the flow of when you first connect to when you lose connection, and a lot of people helped us out with that. We logged the issue with our server host and they have been looking into it for the past week or so. For those of you that don't know, networking is a pain in the ass and I'm glad I never have to deal with it. Rambling aside, as of last night it seems that these connection issues have been largely resolved. When I went to sleep last night, people were able to connect that were not able to connect before, and so it is my belief that we have made progress on this issue. As always, please continue to report to us if you are experiencing connection issues, but most, if not all, that had connection issues before should be able to connect now. Here is a message that Mmartin dropped into #updates last night: This was a well-documented phenomenon known in the tech industry as a "networking meme". Future Direction To put it succintly, please keep sending us your feedback. I know sometimes it gets a little drowned out when we get hundreds of players giving their suggestions, airing their frustrations and asking for changes to be made on the server. Sometimes we may not even respond, but rest assured that we do see it and add it to the list. We had some Development Team applications come in last month and the past 3 weeks have just been too busy for some of us to actually get together and sort through them. We have a couple of people in mind and will be reaching out shortly, and with that, I hope we can start seeing some more development going on. In the changelog above you may have spotted a 50% increase for all rewards to waste management (garbage) and trucking missions. Cypress Logistics and Los Santos Sanitation will not see these increases - their rewards will remain roughly the same. Anybody who wants to stick around in these script jobs will not be at a loss, so don't worry about that. If you make $500 a day now, you will make $500 a day still. These reward buffs are aimed at player-owned companies, who will be able to take a cut of the payment and still offer a rate that's higher than the server-owned jobs. This is something we will continue to monitor and look at against other areas that have been historically under-used (like mowing, our #1 prime feature that we bet all our dreams against). Prison roleplay has taken off with the introduction of the SADCR faction, and if you didn't know, what character model you are using (male or female) determines where you end up! Males have a male-only cell block, and females have a female-only cell block. You can of course mingle in the yard, but we hope that separating each sex into discrete cell blocks will help keep the immersion up for some of our prison roleplayers. In addition to these two, we have a third cell block for isolation, for those that don't fit into either adult male or adult female cell block, or have been bad enough to end up in a concrete box. If you are interested in bringing more life to the prison, I encourage you to take a look at Prison Schemes. Kendrick as always will be taking your feedback about Legal Factions and anything related. Mitcholodolo and DDaniels are your guys for the Illegal Faction side. Please feel free to approach myself about anything that these guys can't help with.17 points

I don't understand why on earth you want criminals doing crimes with legal guns. Does this server really have so bad gun economy for illegals, that you need to fix it with letting everyone have legal guns? Also wouldn't getting illegal gun promote more RP because you need to make connections and such for them?2 points

So the current prices is just a stop gap. Call it a shortage of imports whilst the government figures out new policy. We've already discussed this and are deciding on a new price range as we felt the first ones were too cheap. The new range will be about $500 to $800 for a pistol, and up to $1300 for a rifle. We want to make it a financial investment, an incentive to remain alive and out of danger as long as possible, but still provide a viable way for someone to defend themselves. This is paired with the fact ammo is ridiculously cheap and has no buy cap. On top of this, we are also looking at a cheaper way for a security company to source firearms for their company. Possibly a x% discount at the gun store to act as your company reimbursing the purchase. As part of the changes to legal guns, we have also introduced open carry laws that mean you can open carry your rifle in certain spaces, and you can freely open carry a handgun anywhere except the prison. A large part of the reason gun prices were hiked is because legal factions weren't communicating with each other. A police officer would revoke a license and not tell anybody, and then the government would go ahead and re-issue it, and the offenders would retain access to cheap guns. The steep price hike was intended as a way to break this cycle before starting a new one. We do not want to implement OOC background checks beyond "has this person been banned from a PF license before". Being part of a gang does not disqualify a person for a license, and I feel that gangs' reliance on PF guns was heavily overstated by police factions that were encountering guns every day. It has since been determined that it was actually black market guns that were the issue, not legal ones. With recent changes, meaning police factions can see whether or not a gun was bought legally, extra logging for the issuance and revocation of licenses, and changes to the minimum level one must be to even get a license, we are comfortable returning prices to a realistic level. The price change will be made today (20 August). Everything else has already been done.2 points

Background Preston King was born on July 4th, 1992, to parents John Jacob King and Catherine Mary King. In his traditional, conservative household, patriotism was always held in high regard. That, in addition to being born on the same day as the country he loves most, drove him into service with the U. S. Army at the age of 18, serving as an 11C Indirect Fire Infantryman during the tail-end of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Preston met his wife, Rachel, in 2016 when he was between tours of duty. Soon thereafter, they were married and welcomed their first child, James, into the world. As his child grew up, much of the time without a father, Preston began feeling a strong desire to leave the service and do something that would allow him to be at home to see more of his son's formative years. Having just signed a 5-year re-enlistment contract before meeting Rachel, he was contractually-committed to his duty until 2020. Preston served during five tours of duty in Afghanistan during his time in service, finally being withdrawn during the 2020 withdraw under President Donald J. Trump and achieving the final rank of Sergeant. Following his separation, at the age of 28 and with 10 years of service, he received a disability rating for partial hearing loss as a result of his job assignment, which primarily involved firing mortars and other artillery. He used his GI Bill funding, in addition to his disability payments, to regularly attend Criminal Justice classes and received an Associates Degree at the age of 30. Preston's goals have not changed, however, and he still sought to serve his country in any possible way. Despite his career change, one thing remains the same - his core values. Above all, Preston values Family. Second to that, he values God. Below God, he values Country. Lastly, he holds his duty and obligations of service above all, believing that a life of service is the duty of any god-fearing man. Military Service Preston served in the Army for a total of 12 years, renewing his contract twice and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His whole career was spent in service with the 87th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 10th Mountain Division. By the end of his career, he had worked his way from a 107mm mortar operator to the role of squad leader. He served valiantly in various corners of Afghanistan, primarily in the vicinity of Bagram Air Base. He also saw service in Kabul, Helmand, and Kandahar throughout his five tours of duty. During his time in service, his unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation for their continued deployments in Afghanistan. Individually, he earned the Good Conduct medal each time he was eligible for it - never once did he sustain a blemish on his impeccable service record. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his performance, which his superiors described as "exemplary". After twelve years, he sought to spend more time with his family. Having seen war for far too long, he received an honorable discharge and ended his service in 2022. Ties to White Supremacy When Preston was in his late adolescent years, prior to his military service he became affiliated with a local group of white supremacists in his area. From around the age of 16 or 17, Preston began harboring extreme hateful feelings toward islamic cultures. Having taken the attacks on 9/11 personally, his tours of duty in Afghanistan became a sort of crusade against a religion he viewed as abhorrent to the American way of life. These feelings were solidified in a small tattoo, the Wolfsangel, on his shoulder blade. He has a few other tattoos with cryptic references to White Supremacy culture, such as the roman numeral symbols for the number "14". To his surprise, he was able to find a few like-minded groups during his time in the military. This is where he learned to keep his beliefs secretive. He unknowingly participated in multiple hate crimes when back at home, serving as transportation for the men in the group who were performing such acts. Most of the time, however, he took out his frustrations in the theatre of war. More than once, he committed acts that some may have considered war crimes - however, due to the "fog of war", he was able to get away with everything. One such incident, however, haunts him and has caused him to consider whether his beliefs are true. When Preston was serving during a deployment in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan, he allowed his hateful beliefs to cloud his better judgment. When he was alone one night on security duty, he shot and killed an unarmed twelve-year old Afghani boy. His beliefs had ultimately led him into a mindset where all Afghanis were the enemy, even if they were small children. When his fellow troops responded to the sound of gunfire, he fabricated a story that the boy had been carrying something that looked like a firearm - a story that, while technically true, was truly a lie by omission. In truth, Preston had murdered the boy and feared he would be dishonorably discharged or imprisoned if he told the unbridled truth. Despite his reservations and the nightmares accompanying the incident, he never performed any kind of deep examination of his feelings or his beliefs. After leaving the military, he connected with another local white supremacy group. In becoming a Correctional Officer, he began networking discretely with the Aryan Brotherhood (AB) operating within the San Andreas State Prison system. He currently serves as an asset when called upon, and performs various favors for his white compatriots.1 point

I don't want to be rude or sound pessimistic but this server to me seems more like a glorified cops and robbers/low RP server. Shootings are happening at such a big rate that it just isn't fun anymore. You about to be caught? How about I shoot myself out of this situation. Teamspeak is way overused and casual OOC talks are now happening in IC TAC channels. There is zero oversight on the use of force of LEO's since there is no requirement for people to file reports on questionable shootings or suspects who die during their arrest (apart from the very few supervisors who can be on scene). Normally IA would review those reports and investigate if it's fishy. I can go on and on but I honestly think it's subpar and should need a drastic review.1 point

This. I have always said that LSRP's biggest threat is not other communities, but its own management. A community needs active management that consistently makes an effort to keep the server running, whether it's development or something else. We need weekly updates. @ImperiumXVII is diligently working to roll out updates, but we want more than just minor updates. Don't misunderstand me; we deeply appreciate every bit of effort, but we also yearn for more significant updates. Expanding the staff, adjusting the development team, rules regulations, modifying gun prices, or introducing new updates won't make a difference if the core management remains inactive. This is simply the truth. A faction could be situated in the best location, having a decent amount of members, but if the leader isn't active or doesn't display genuine concern for the faction, it will gradually diminish. Many of us remain loyal to this community and want it to thrive. All we ask in return is for some attention from those in higher positions. If they cannot provide this, then perhaps they should pass the ball to someone who genuinely cares about the community and has the capability to lead it effectively. If you rarely log onto the forum, then I'm unsure how it's going to remain active.1 point

Ye lol limit the guns so ppl cry for a refund request every minute and pick on the pettiest shit to get a refund Limit the guns so it all turns into ooc deals like it was on samp Limit the guns so u turn this into a mallrat legal rp server like gtaw, but u know… u cant compete because their script and everything has been developing for 6+ years. Not ur fault on the script, it is what it is. Ur only chance was making something different that they dont have, like gang rp, but i see this shit will slowly turn into legal. B4 i get a crybaby saying gang != guns, well its a game, without a gun a lot or players would rather rp legal, and u cant compete with the other legal server rn and ye limiting guns will turn all the deals into ooc deals and u will not be able to obtain guns thru ic connections. played samp for more than 7 years so i know the deal and theres no solution to ooc deals, can never be detected. Good luck i guess1 point

GTA V map is huge. Even in servers with 500+ players, Los Santos feels relatively empty. That's why establishing roleplay hubs is important. Even during the golden years in SAMP, if you went to most parts in the western part of Los Santos, they would've been empty.1 point

The issue doesn't lay in the location. County is even bigger than Los Santos and there's no way you're keeping players in one small town - there's just not enough space for most RP venues, especially illegal. Several key issues I see at the moment: - Slow development. Server updates are becoming even more rarer as the time goes, and so far these updates are minor and small. I don't know if it's because the developers busy or perhaps they are working on several big projects to release them all at once. I hope it's the second option. - Communication. Ever since Sal went on LOA, communication has been down a lot. No more staff meetings, no more news from the management. Again, I really hope this is silence before something big from their side. But players don't like silence. - Incomplete economy. Some people complain that the realistic economy model is bad. I personally think that it is good, but certain things are either missed out or done the wrong way. For example, car prices are wrong - some of them are too expensive, some are way too cheap. Rental car system is done terribly wrong - it's 20 times too cheap, there's absolutely no accountability, etc. Basically $20 burner cars that you can use for anything without any consequences, which also fucks up things for taxi businesses and transit schemes. Lack of ability to sell/scrap cars, etc. - Surplus of LEO. I'll be lynched for this, but there's too much players in PD/SD - most evenings 1/4-5th of the server are on duty officers. That's something you'd see in a C&R server. There's no challenge for the LEO players and they way overpower illegals - forcing them to RP in enclosed circles somewhere in interiors. Not to mention that most of the LEO players are actually good roleplayers and could really be much more useful in other legal non-LEO and illegal factions, as well as businesses.1 point

Good thing you can just simply remove the serial from the weapon and cops won’t know where you got the gun from! Great stuff.0 points

Preston is a Correctional Officer and a White Supremacist. He keeps it under wraps, but often disciplines non-white inmates more harshly.0 points

Let's also not take into consideration the fact that this rise in prices just made some banger's PF stash the most profitable purchase in the history of Los Santos.0 points
