  1. Los Santos Fire Department The Los Santos Fire Department(LSFD) is heavily based on the LAFD and will primarily roleplay any of the following: fire-related emergencies, rescue operations, medical aid, hazardous material incidents, and other relevant situations. It's important to note that the LSFD will recreate all aspects of a firefighters life, such as day-to-day firehouse activities, business fire prevention and supporting other legal factions and providing medical support at server events. Being based around American firefighting they share Firefighting AND Emergency Medical Services which makes it common to see fire engines helping with medical incidents and them housed at the same station. Emergency Calls and Communication To interact with the LSFD during an emergency situation you can use your phone to dial 911 and request assistance, in real life you would be put through to a control room that does not response to calls and instead answers calls and allocates resources. On LS-RP when you call 911 it will first ask you what service you require and then ask "What's your emergency?" which gives you a chance to explain to everyone what is happened, please give as much detail as possible but act accordingly, if your character has a lot of adrenaline they might not be able to speak in full sentences or speak to much and say all the wrong things. When you call 911 your phone's location is tracked which is the same as real life and will help emergency workers find you if you hang-up before saying anything over the phone. You can request more then one service, when you are asked what service you require you can specific a specific service for example "Fire Department" or ask for multiple "Police and Fire" which will send the call to both departments. Collaborative Roleplay When the Fire Department arrive on scene, or you are engaging with members of the LSFD remember that we need to work together to get the best EMS roleplaying experience, respecting everyone's interests in the server and taking an interest in your characters health can push your realism a long way and provide a better experience for everyone involved. Firefighters will take the lead during medical roleplays with training that is provided by the faction you are NOT expected to have any medical knowledge and will be walked through the roleplay which can be adjusted depending on your medical knowledge. Communication is very important, explain your injuries in as much detail as you want, if you are not confident with medical roleplay you are still encouraged to use your creative side and imagine realistic injuries and responses that are realistic. Providing accurate descriptions of your surroundings, injuries, or potential hazards can enhance the engagement you'll receive from the Fire Department, when you have finished at scene you are likely to be transported to Mount Zonah Medical Centre with medical staff who will take your character through the next leg of your journey. Providing surgery / treatment roleplay and recovery options, they can now also give prescriptions to help medicate your character and deal with longer term issues if you see fit from the injuries your character received. Medical Guide The LSFD will be offering CPR courses in the future, but for now a simple guide to assist you in the basics and getting you through your first medical interaction. What are observations / vitals? This is the basic stuff that keeps you alive and healthy so will be part of most encounters with the LSFD. Heart rate - The heart pushes blood around the body and can massively vary from person to person, the average range for a heart rate is 60bpm-100bpm and would be expected for someone in a health position and considered 'stable'. Breath rate - The lungs take in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide and can massively vary from person to person, the average range for your breath rate is 12bpm-18bpm and would be expected for someone in a health position and considered 'stable'. Temperature - Using a thermometer to check a person's temperature. This should be as close to 98.6°F (37°C) to be considered 'stable'. Blood Pressure - This is how hard your heart is pumping and can decrease drastically if you're bleeding. This reading should be as close to 120/80 and will be taken using a special cuff that wraps around your arm. Bleeding. Most of your injuries will be gun shot wounds, after the firefighter checks your vitals they will assess your wounds and use a variety of bandages that can soak up the blood and with a lot of pressure eventually stop the bleeding. Please be descript with your injuries, the rate of blood loss and if it's a single wound or multiple wounds (like a shotgun) and if you were hit head, grazed, the impact size might be different if the gunman was directly next to you. If you're losing large amount of blood, please think about how your vitals might change, will your heart be pumping faster to make up for the loss? Will your blood pressure decrease, like a balloon with a hole? Pain. Don't forget that your character might be in pain, if they've been beaten or shot they will struggle to do a large amount of tasks which is why the Fire Department have a gurney(stretcher) that has it's own set of wheels that can help your character move about. Struggling to move, screaming in pain, blacking out, these are all common signs of pain that can increase to the scene and enable the Fire Department to give pain relief and even prescriptions later on at the medical center. Communication Don't forget to talk! When you're in the downed script you can still use /low, if your character is not unconscious then a dialog will be opened by the firefighter, asking questions that might be relevant to the scenario and medical history and allergies which are common questions in a real setting. Remember your character might need reassurance whilst on a cold floor with a bullet wound and panic unless spoken to. With good communication comes roleplay that is not often seen. Further Learning If you have any interest in learning more about the roles of a firefighter or medical knowledge I would recommend watching some of the media available, documentaries or more scripted shows like Station 19 or Chicago Fire can help you understand the role of a firefighter and a broad sense of what they are based off. The LSFD does allow for ride-along, whilst there is no way to apply on the forums you can ask any firefighter you see in the server if they are free for a ride along and go from there. If you have any interest in firefighter roleplay then it could be in your interest to apply for the faction and join a team of dedicate players who enjoy what the faction has to offer and promote realism and providing the server with quality EMS and Firefighting engagement and roleplay.

  4. A quartered shield bearing the stars and stripes, a five cornered star and a grizzly bear - a tribute to the short-lived San Andreas Republic. A golden eagle like the kind depicted on the 19th century Mexican Coat of Arms, standing on a cactus while holding a rattlesnake in its beak, the old Alta City Hall and a lion rampant. The Los Santos City Government is one of the largest municipal organizations within the United States, and the largest in San Andreas, providing services to over three million constituents who reside both in the City of Los Santos and the County of Los Santos following a decision in 1992 to consolidate both the City and County of Los Santos into one large entity. The municipal organization is led by a City-County Mayor, who oversees all operations of the government and is responsible for the delivery and accessibility of services. Los Santos is home to people from all walks of life, of all cultures and backgrounds, located on the southern part of San Andreas. What started as a colonial settlement in 1781 under the Spanish Empire, saw rapid expansion ever since its establishment and quickly turned into a major colonial hub. While not much is known about the city during the Spanish rule, it is known that the territory was later on taken over by Mexico in the 1800s, and then rebelled under the short-lived San Andreas Republic in 1846 over land-purchasing rights. At the beginning of the revolt, flags bearing a five cornered star and a grizzly bear were raised by the mutineer soldiers, replacing the Mexican ones. On July 5, 1846 - the United States flag was raised throughout government buildings and militia bases, marking the end of the Republic and the annexation of the land by the United States. --------------------------------------------------------------- TIMOTHY KNIGHT MAYOR Welcome to Los Santos, It is my pleasure to present you with a warm welcome to Los Santos, our little pearl in the West Coast. Los Santos is home to innovation, progress and discovery - where people come from everywhere and everyone are welcome. A sprawling metropolis, Los Santos is one of the busiest regions in all of San Andreas and even the United States, with an active nightlife scene, products and stores from all over the world, there's always something to see in our city. I invite you to tour the city, visit the landmarks and most importantly - enjoy your stay. Welcome once again, Timothy Knight Mayor of Los Santos --------------------------------------------------------------- The Office of Finance is responsible for the financial health of Los Santos, providing business owners, entrepreneurs and visionaries with the tools needed to thrive. It is responsible for the collection of all money deposited in the City Treasury, from taxes to certain city-imposed fees. The Department of Health works to protect the health and well-being of the residents of the city of Los Santos and surrounding incorporated areas, it's main objective is to push public health initiatives and policies in accordance with current state law, support the growing health infrastructure of the city of Los Santos both public and private. The Bureau of Licensing is responsible for the processing of liquor and entertainment licensing and continuous review of those licensed premises across Los Santos. The Los Santos Department of Public Works and Transportation is what keeps the city moving, the workers who keep the city dynamic and ever-changing. The Department is separated into several sections, each having their own responsibilities - the Department of Public Works handles public infrastructure development and maintenance, as well as power and water grids. The Department of Transportation is responsible for making sure the city stays mobile by providing public transit services with the highest quality standards. The Bureau of Parking Management makes sure that appropriate parking etiquette and laws are followed, as well as assists with traffic control where needed. The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) serves thousands of vulnerable people each year, improving their quality of life via the administration of local welfare programs. Such programs aim to assist and empower disadvantaged individuals and families within the greater Los Santos area to achieve their maximum potential; housing, employment, and financial assistance, to name a few. The Department consistently works towards the economic and social development of all, operating under the values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of a person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. The Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner (DMEC) is responsible for conducting inquiry into the circumstances, manner, and cause of deaths which fall within its jurisdiction. These inquiries predominantly surround deaths which appear homicidal, suicidal, violent, or accidental; this remit also includes deaths where an appropriate physician is not available to certify death. Inquiries make use of state of the art technology and methods, along with examination of their medical records, behavior, and much more. The DMEC also plays a role by, on request of the Public Health Department, examining deaths which may be related to wider public health risks. The Port of Los Santos is the nation's leading gateway for international trade and has ranked the number one container port in the United States. It is a self-supporting department of the City of Los Santos, also known as the Los Santos Harbor Commission, and is governed by the Los Santos Board of Harbor Commission, a panel appointed by the Mayor of Los Santos. The Port of Los Santos is committed to proper oversight and management of all port activities, with an outstanding team of executives appointed to propel the organization's vision and strategy forward. 5. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate 'Los Santos Day 2023' with us earlier this evening - we hope you had a good time! For those who missed it, we took over Sisyphus Theater for a night of singing, speeches, music and fireworks. Kicking off festivities was Allegra Nixon singing the anthem of Los Santos: Following this patriotic tribute to our great city, Mayor Timothy Knight gave a speech. Here's a short excerpt from it: "Today, we are not just celebrating a date in history. We are commemorating the spirit of Los Santos, a spirit nurtured by its rich culture, its diverse people, and its unique heritage. A spirit that dares us to dream, and then gives us the tools to realize those dreams. In the face of any challenge, let us remember, we are Los Santos. We are the dreamers and the doers. We are the heart and the soul of this city. And together, we will build a future that our forebears would be proud of and that our children will thank us for." Finally we finished with a set from DJ Sádico and a fireworks display, accompanied by some questionable dancing from citizens and Government officials alike. Thank you for coming everyone, and Happy Los Santos Day! (Thank you to @Mouse and partner for helping with screenshots, more to follow)

  7. I've been rambling abot a boatload of things in Discord for a while, so I figured I'll finally make a more organized post with the hope that the community as a whole can share their two cents and even more importantly so the staff could see things like the ones that I'm going to mention (and hopefully others that others will add) as a bigger priority. I'm just going to touch down on certain aspects of the server, why they aren't ideal and potentially how they could be improved. I'm a text-wall guy, but I'll try to be as straight to the point as I can. With nothing further to do, let's dive into a couple of points: 1. Gatekeeping the Money PS: DDaniels has already mentioned in Discord that what I'm addressing is something on the staff's mind and that is going to happen. I'm just going to share it so the community can add their opinion on it and perhaps suggest cool stuff in regards to it. Most of the money-making mechanisms that aren't related to grinding the five scriptwise jobs that we have (that do little, if anything, to contribute to generating roleplay and in character behavior) are red taped and railroading you towards factions and groups. Don't get me wrong. Factions are great, necessary and the backbone of any roleplaying community, but: - For hourly paychecks, you need to be in a government, official/legal faction. - For a business, you need a "starting roster" to begin with and they are hardly profiteable anyway besides all the OOC headache and effort. (I'll touch on that more in 2.) - For schemes, contraband and the likes, you need to be in a faction, and the unwritten rule is that as if the faction red tape isn't enough, you have to realize that most faction leaderships decide themselves on which member they allow to apply/run whatever scheme for the faction, so there is even more red tape on that than the information topics suggest. This is all cool and cool things to have, but you have to understand that not everyone, for whatever reason (whether IC or OOC, or both), wants to commit to a faction (regardless of the kind of faction) but rather be more "laid back and do their own thing" if this makes sense. If you want to stop the senseless trucking and fishing at the pier, you need to do something to incentivize these people to stop grinding and role-play. Not to critique without suggesting - but making schemes available for NON-FACTION characters (solo/individuals) would be a great start. Unfortunately, schemes are still rather exclusive as a whole and I think simply doing that would not be enough. There has to be something else. Tapered paychecks are cool, because they essentially force you to go out and roleplay, rather than just grind, but clearly not enough. At some point we have to consider free hourly money for everyone (like $100 a hour) or whatever. Just so people can spend hours roleplaying and know that they will be able to pay their rent without having to spend more time on the fishing pier. This isn't ideal, it's just a whatever suggestion to make a point. 2. Business Income (especially smaller businesses) The economy, especially when it relates to businesses, needs serious work. Businesses are critical to generating role play, and the whole "public/social" aspect of role play and generally making the server feel more a-live. They are also crucial to connecting people. A.k.a. they meet up in some business and carry on role playing outside it from that point on. Right now, a lot of businesses are essentially doomed, what do I mean by that? Imagine you want to open a small bar, or a restaurant. You know, something with the idea to promote social role play and character interaction, not just /dance at a night club with entry fees. So what do you do is: - You spend hours/days working on a business thread, more than likely gfx for it, a business application, then a business interior/furniture, then hiring, filtering out, interviewing staff for your business, then training your staff. Then figuring out and micro & macro managing your opening times. But what happens after is: - You realize (for example for a bar) that your only source of income is selling beer (and beverages), and beer goes for aproximately $5 a bottle. - That your aproximate hourly source of income, regardless of how well visited your bar ends up being, is comperable to that of a fisherman. Except that fisherman did fuck-all but /fish and /ame checks the time every 3 minutes for a hour, while you put in all the effort and time described above. ^ And this is only thanks to the fact that you are being reimbursed for your staff pay and advertisement costs by the staff. Otherwise, you would be operating at hell of a loss every single time and probably either be bankrupt in two tries, or have to fish/truck your life away just so that you can afford keeping your business a-float. Not ideal at all. People should be incentivized to open and maintain businesses, and what I described isn't that nice of an incentive, IMO. Once again, not to critique without suggesting: The reimbursement system is nice, but it's also an OOC hassle of paperwork for everyone involved. Take screenshots, fill forum forms and all that. And you still don't profit shit, all that - just not to be at a loss. Now, GTA:W tackled this issue somehow well by "paying" X money for every unique /enter in the business to a cap of max money per 24 hours. For example your business there got $1000 per unique /enter up to 25 people. That way, you could still sell $5 beer but also actually profit and make it worth your while. I'm not saying that this system is ideal and that we should copy it, and everything leaves room for exploitating when we discuss such things, I'm once again - making a point that something needs to be done. Saying that a beer shouldn't cost $5 and just make it $200 as an easy solution does not work, because nobody would pay $200 for a beer in this current economy given their bank accounts. Or at least not nearly enough people anyhow for the business to be suceseful. 3. Free Business Furniture This is going to be relatively shorter and more-so a question, because I'm unsure of how that will work, BUT - to the best of my knoweledge, currently the furniture that you do in your business interior is essentially free. Is this going to be the case forever? Will people be able to furnish their business venues for free, or will we eventually re-enable furniture item prices? And if we do - how is that going to be fair to the future LS:RP player and business owner? When someone got their gigantic complex luxoriously furnitured entirely free of charge and you have to break the bank for your little coffee shop? What's the plan here? 4. Improving scriptwise jobs regardless. Scriptwise jobs are going to be used/worked on regardless of whatever we say and do, so let's make them better with the hope they can generate at least some role play. Take fishing for example: "Please support this giga suggestion so business owners and hood rats don't all have to meet at the pier daily to fish. I cannot stress this enough." To add on to this, understand how important of a first impression this is. Think about how many people will join the server, go to the fishing pier and see business CEO's in suits and hood rats fishing together with little to no role play, let alone sense. Think about what they will think of the server and what we want to do with it. 5. Character Customization I don't know where this is on the dev priority list, but IMO it should be up there. More clothes, make-up tattoos, accessories, all that cool stuff. Simple as - the more of that and sooner - the better. I'd even add more cars being buy-able to that as well. I think that's the general gist of my rambling, but I would be hella curious to see what the communtiy thinks, has to add on, and what other issues they want to tackle on. There's some other more-obvious and straightforward issues like a JETSKI COSTING 70K but I don't think this is some in-depth subject needing a general discussion debate. EDIT: Just to clarify, I love LS:RP and I think it did many things well already. I'm not here to bitch, whine and call the place shit. I'm here to provide feedback and suggest stuff that I believe will improve the place for everyone's sake.

  9. I just want to mention, since OP made a point a couple replies back. Regarding the red tape, whatever it's for, it's not quality. Please peruse at your own leasure the screenshots showcasing the roleplay around the distribution of these firearms, posted by the factions w these assets. Surely they were given these assets based on relations status and not merit of roleplay? :S Just to mention, by just glancing through the forums for less than 2h total it's clear to see that you have a very talented base of players ready to dedicate their time and efforts in building something, we, as like-minded roleplayers, would all very much enjoy. This server has the potential to be one of the greatest, I just hope the management listens to the very based (not necessarily mine) opinions of its supporters.

  10. For one, there is a force investigation squad for officer involved shootings in BOTH factions and there are several open investigations into several members of the faction. Not just for shootings but for other things. Second, on a roleplay server you're expected to roleplay your character and face the repercussions for your actions, whether you think it's just a game or not. If you do any of the things most criminals on this server do, you sit in jail for 3 days minimum IRL time which is not a thing here. This isn't a light roleplay server. Most people actually get away with murder which is fine but when you're caught why is it an issue to serve jail time?

  13. Oh, hello there, [Player's Name], We are just over the moon thrilled to read your oh-so-constructive criticism of our roleplay server. The level of sarcasm you've sprinkled throughout your post is simply astonishing. But fear not, dear player, we are more than ready to respond in kind. You see, we are absolutely delighted that transitioning to a realistic and immersive economy has left you feelin' all warm and fuzzy inside. We apologize profusely for creating a system that challenges your desire for instant gratification. Who needs meaningful progression anyway, right? We'll definitely take note and revise our entire approach to cater exclusively to your whims. Ah, the favoritism accusation. That's a real gem right there. We are thrilled to inform you that our team members have been secretly organizing favoritism parties, where we hand out all the goodies to our dearest friends while you, my friend, are left toiling away for minimum wage. It's like a modern-day fairy tale, where only the chosen ones receive the treasures of the land. We are truly grateful for your suggestion to abandon any sense of realism and hand out duffel bags filled with virtual goodies without any justification whatsoever. Who needs immersive roleplay when we can just throw random items at players without rhyme or reason? It's the recipe for unparalleled excitement, isn't it? But fret not, because we have been diligently working on our ego-stroking skills. Nothing brings us more pleasure than making everyone dance to our arbitrary rules while we sit back and bask in our supreme authority. You are absolutely correct in assuming that none of our admins will ever experience the agony of spending hours on end fishing at Del Pierro pier. We just sip martinis and laugh maniacally as you grind away, my friend. In conclusion, we are truly humbled by your incredible insight and wisdom. Your suggestions will undoubtedly guide us on the path to becoming the greatest server of all time. We hope you continue to bless us with your delightful presence and your invaluable feedback. Sarcastically yours, [Your Team Name]
