  1. I love this suggestion. It's true that not everyone wants to work for a player owned business, and that's understandable. Instead, we should introduce these jobs as ways for people to passively earn on their own time while still getting rewarded on-time. A lot of these would only encourage player interaction. However, some jobs I don't agree with adding. For example, "Doctor's, nurse, janitor, receptionist(THIS IS NEEDED BAD)." This role is being fulfilled by the FD. You might say that they don't hire receptionists, nurses, or janitors, but these roles don't seem very much interesting to begin with. We also don't want random players playing doctor. Another job I don't particularly agree with is the Construction Worker job. Being on a job site doesn't exactly promote roleplay with the community as these kinds of job-sites would typically be closed to the public. You might argue that the construction workers might want to roleplay with each other, however, I believe there are other jobs listed that are better suited for such a case.
  2. Additional points I'd like to throw out there. Adding a guide for new players when they first join the server. I previously stated in the tapering how some friends of mine quit the server because of how difficult it is to get money. However, another set of friends let me know that the reason they left is because they had no idea what to do. What do I mean by this? Well, they explained to me that once they logged into the server and created their character, there was no guidance whatsoever. They weren't sure where to start, what to do, what were the options to get money, etc. We need to have something implemented in-game that can show players what they can do when they first join. A little guide. We can't treat this server like it's old LS-RP where people know where everything is and how to do it. We need to cater to the new playerbase. Reviewing the Driving Test. The amount of players that have complained about the driving test was pretty big when the server first launched. A lot pf people, including myself, had some difficulty passing the written exam and I think it needs to be revisited and dumbed down. There are some questions that have two right answers but you can only pick one. Despite it being mostly common sense, we still need to cater to the players that get filtered by something like this. One friend of mine has quit because of this alone and even I explained to them how I failed twice before passing it.
  3. Having two areas of focus isn't a bad idea. Personally, I think Mirror Park would be best since there isn't such an association with crime unlike Davis. However, Davis would provide a good location because of how open it is. It can also provide some new players who are interested in gang roleplay to interact with people around the neighborhood.
  4. Here are a couple of points I quickly thought of that I'd love for people to discuss. Some have already been listed. Player Hubs. The server really needs a hub where players can come and meet each other ICly. Mirror Park would be a perfect place for this to happen, in my opinion. It has a lot of buildings for potential businesses to open and would create a sense of community in such a small neighborhood. Tapering. Tapering needs to be reviewed as it can be a little difficult for a player to earn money. Despite us wanting to maintain an economy that seems realistic, giving the player more freedom in the money they earn would make it seem easier for them to get settled. I've had friends who left the server because earning money seemed like a hassle. It might not seem hard with the amount of businesses hiring, but we need to, unfortunately, cater to that minority. Providing a public roadmap for the community. Providing a roadmap to the player base with what the developers are currently working on and their progress would provide more transparency on the development of the server. People right now are looking at the bare-bones script and want to know what's to come instead of waiting weeks for something to be posted in the snippets channel on Discord. Transparency will show that there's "hope," in a sense. Focusing on factions. Factions are such an important and integral part of a servers growth. Graffiti was teased at the beginning of September and this is going to be a great addition for gang roleplay. House Burglary / Pawn Shops < People should also take a look at this post in the Faction Team Public club regarding a future feature that'll provide more roleplay opportunities for players. Drugs need to be worked on as well as they're just used for roleplay without actual benefits which some players are used to. The first two examples are steps in the right direction and I hope the development team continues with the great work. Faction team can step it up as there doesn't seem to be much transparency on their discussions that can potentially impact the server in major ways. Overall, we're moving in a good direction. More features need to be catered around illegal and legal factions so that their growth can continue and provide a stable community within the server.
  5. Anyway, back to the topic. I’ve had friends that had some interest in roleplaying again, but after joining the server they weren’t exactly sure on what to do so they left. There needs to be some sort of hand holding when a new player joins, and I believe this should be a priority. Not only that, new players want to know what upcoming features are being worked on. I want to reiterate my idea from the first page regarding a public roadmap. A public roadmap would provide transparency to the community on what’s actively being worked on by devs, giving players something to look forward to. A google spreadsheet just isn’t enough.
  6. The issues stated in the original post have been fixed since launch, however, there's a noticeable drop of players since launch. Personally, I think that people gave the server a chance and were too impatient to wait for updates to release. With additions to the development team and Imperium as head of game development, I believe this server will thrive in due time. Every server has issues during its infancy, this is nothing new. What I'd like to see, and what other community members would likely like to see as well, is a public roadmap. The Google sheets document was shown to us, however, I think having a log that's updated with who's working on what at any given time would provide transparency that would ultimately benefit the server and boost player morale. Keeping a list updated with what's being worked on and what's going to be worked on next based on priority could only be beneficial, in my opinion.
  7. Personally, I use /me's to convey some messages or emotions that might otherwise not be known. I'm not a screenshot roleplayer, I don't have a thread on this forum to showcase my character development, so I use /me's in my roleplay to show what my character's feeling at the time. The use of /me was definitely made to perform an action, yes, but I also want to feel like I'm telling a story. The subtle movements my character makes when reacting to information, what they feel deep inside at a given moment, all of this I want to showcase to the people I'm roleplaying with. I prefer not to do this in large crowds and mainly use it when in a small group or doing 1 on 1's with someone. That's just what I think about it. Call me a mid-level roleplayer, but I'm here to tell my story my own way.
  8. Training Day, Bronx Tale, The Pianist, Silence of the Lambs, Coach Carter, The Pursuit of Happyness, Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Freedom Writers, American History X… Just to name a few of my favorites.
  9. SAMP was an amazing platform, but its time has definitely passed. GTAV offers so much more, although a little clunky. If the development team follows up with what Mmartin said on his recent post, I believe the server will thrive given the time!
  10. Ripped this from another thread: After skimming through this thread and reading the above response, I can see some of you are really into giving people OOC timeouts as a consequence. While I understand people should be held accountable in some way for their roleplay, especially those who only go around to rob people and don't actively contribute to the roleplay scene, I don't believe locking them out of their character is the way to go. Sure, you can say this will make them make more careful decisions, but it can also disgruntle the player into leaving. Quality over quantity is amazing, but looking at it as someone who plays on GMT-8 where there are 50 plays on by the time I get home, I feel this would lower the playerbase during a critical stage of its life. Over time and as the server grows, I believe my stance would change, however, I don't believe this is something that needs to be implemented right now. Instead, I believe that there should be less leniency toward robbery-focused or deathmatch-focused players. On top of that, I think staff should be more vigilant against these types of players. I also want to mention how easy it is to get a gun on this server. The gun scene is extremely bloated and needs to be looked at again. I know there's been a recent system put in place to limit the amount of guns on the server, but I believe this system is still too easy and there would still be an insane amount of guns floating around. Guns need to be hard to find. They don't provide meaningful roleplay and are only a means to an end. I believe there would be far more meaningful and enjoyable roleplay if, for example, a gang was to have a brawl instead of senselessly killing each other because Tony Soprano sold them guns for one thousand dollars a pop. Adding onto this, I think that Government has done a terrible job in handling PF licenses. The server is now flooded with people who have access to guns legally, and I believe the restrictions are far too easy to meet OOCly. I know the damage has been done, but it's still insanely easy to get one which shouldn't be the case. Don't lock a player out of their character. Be more vigilant against robbery focused or deathmatch focused players. Lastly, please make guns more scarce. They're not candy to be given out like it's Halloween.
