  1. That's a bad excuse. LS:RP is a business and it should start acting like one. Real life obligations are and always will be there, but it is his responsibility to put them aside in order to grow his business. If you are seeking to create something good/innovative/unique, you need to make sacrifices. Yeah he took unpaid time off... Am I supposed to praise him for that? Should I applaud the fact that he took unpaid time off to build his own business that makes him money? He's not running a charity, there's nothing for me to "respect". There's a patreon up that generates almost a grand a month, that's the whole point behind that, to fund the endeavor and ensure that if he needs to take some unpaid time off, he can without starving or being homeless. Here's a question for you. Since you guys are admittedly getting hit by real life responsibilities (which like I said is not an excuse when you run your own business but anyway) and an increasingly large volume of tickets, why don't you try to make part of the work opensource so that community devs contribute to it or on-board more volunteer developers? You don't need to give them access to everything if you're afraid of leaks, hell don't even give them anything. I dev for multiple FiveM servers and I don't have access to any of their core frameworks. I make them minimum viable products and then they trim them to their needs. My two cents.

  4. Hey everyone, We've decided to once again move our release date. First and foremost, please accept our apologies. I understand the frustration everyone must be feeling, and you aren't alone. Our biggest challenge is time. Every release date we've set, whether February 24st or week of March 21st, has been calculated based on current development team availability which has proven to change unexpectedly more often than not, leading us to continue to undercalculate our progress and release timeframes. Nonetheless, I won't give you any excuses. We gave out a date and we should be expected to meet it, that is on us. Once again, we're sorry for the continued false promises. With that being said, the work hasn't stopped. We're very close to launching and I'm prepared to show you a sheet of outstanding features. You can see that list here: Features list The features listed are the current prerequisites to us launching. It's been a busy month for all of us in the development team but I'm still able to assure you that development is not going to and has never stopped. We're working hard to get this out. I hope everyone understands that we have never delayed because we want to but because we had to. At this time I am not prepared to give you another release date. I'll post another announcement as soon as I have that information. We'll continue to regularly post development snippets and update you as we make progress. Once again, please accept our most humble apologies and thank you for your understanding & your continued support. Thank you, Kane Lead Developer

  5. This entire post can be summarized as giving people limited PK lives and if they reach the end they are CK'd. I agree and would even go as far as to say all IC deaths should be CK's. People have to value their characters for realistic decision making. I don't think it'd detract at all from the fun or video game aspect of LS-RP. I think it'd add more value to accomplishments and decisions.

  8. I'm sorry to hear some players couldn't imagine that. Before that ULSA faction started up, everyone I knew RPing university students on GTAW were also involved in illegal RP. People are more complicated than 100% legal or 100% illegal, and many underworld types (especially women from what I've read) are expected to have a legal side. I think interesting characters exist in multiple worlds, they show different sides of themselves to different groups, like friends or family or work. School can be a big focus in any storyline where a character is trying to get out of the game and find a better life. I enjoy the tension of two worlds pulling on a character, like their home life against their school goals. Also there are legit real University of California professors (ULSA IRL) who used to be involved in gangs and drug dealing. It's like the gang capital of the world no? And of course, some professors and grad students actually participate in street crimes while studying street gangs. Street gang characters might be less common but it's possible to be involved in gang life or on the edge of gang life and still working a legal job or attending some classes. But I'd definitely expect there to be students who were children of oligarchs, children of Asian autocratic elites, and children of mob style crime bosses. Like do people think these kids are getting schooled in an evil castle in the mountains? The whole idea of the underworld is that it literally exists under the world, everywhere we look there is some crime under the surface. But like people here are saying, I don't think the classes/lectures are really the most important thing for us. I think a super helpful thing about RPing a school experience is the structure it brings to RP. Like we don't even need a faction for all types of students. Like if a character lives off campus and is always traveling back and forth between classes, that creates opportunities to encounter RP and also for a character to experience different vibes. If a character is mostly experiencing just one neighbourhood, I think being in a new environment can help open up lots of ideas. But of course the experience of living in dorms or just going to a big city university can change a character. I was super sheltered and ignorant about so many things before university. It'll be fun to see characters from Blaine County attending ULSA and experiencing some culture shock. I know people who had never left their home county before moving into the dorms before they came to university. These students legit never seen a skyscraper before.

  9. As I've said before and to many people: the delays themselves don't bother me. The management around the delays is what's bothered me. Thank you Kane for sharing this list of what remains - as it feels like the only time where we've really had any idea of where we're up to and what remains. With that being said, we've had weeks of uncertainty and I'm not afraid to say that I feel like more could and should have been done to keep everyone up to date on where things have been at. There have also been opportunities to keep interest piqued which have been missed; I sent some of these ideas to Ben, but they were ignored. And frankly, to hear on the most recent meeting (which was still over a week ago, maybe two?) "I'm really excited about the launch and I hope you are too" just felt like a slap in the face. I have been one of the people who's vehemently defended the staff team, Mmartin and the delays that have happened. I understand, fully and wholeheartedly, that you're doing this in your spare time and that everyone has jobs and lives besides this. You, as an individual, along with the other developers that have picked things up in Mmartin's stead, are very good in my eyes and I feel sorry for you having to deal with such fallout when you've done everything you can. The snippets, for instance, have been one of the few things keeping people informed of where things are at. The sad fact here though is that in my eyes, the script and the physical release of the server has only been part of the problem. Keeping people fully informed has been one major issue, and I believe that there must surely be other things that could have occupied everyone's time and attention in the meantime. For instance, talk about the discussions that have been had regarding SA lore. Talk about the updates to laws. Show that the lead team has been listening to suggestions and so on. Show people that fucks are still being given. This again is not directed at you. I'm directing it more at anyone who claims to manage this community as a whole. Opportunities have been missed, the communication failures have been nigh on endless, and faith is being lost on a daily basis as a result. I'm not even sure if, at this point, anything that is said or done could convince me that this is still worth keeping an eye on. The manner it's been managed leaves much to be desired, and makes me worry for any time in the future in which difficult situations might arise again

  10. We all work full time jobs outside of ls-rp and Martin's been taking unpaid leave from his to dedicate more time to getting ls-rp out but I suppose you may have a point about us being lazy. Schedules change, life happens and slows us down. I can't help you if you can't understand that.

  12. You shouldn't need to be able to DJ to be RP as a DJ. Much like you shouldn't need to be a cop, lawyer, doctor or gangster to play as such. Potential security risks and abuse is fair, but gatekeeping because a small group of people want to OOC DJ isn't cool.

  13. i know everybody got priorities irl but sorry dude, apparently nothing changed with LSRP, same old habits, yall cant keep ur word on a release date and this aint a good sign.. same old staff typical behavior from lsrp, unfortunately, before the server even launches lol, some of us grew up with LS and are old farts now and would like to see this shit thrive but yall killed it with these moves and i'll be the one to say it for everybody here (at least people who think like me) not sure what's going on here i hope u realize u just killed the hype with this, don't make promises u cant keep, if its gonna take 1 year to release it, tell the people its gonna take 1 year, dont tell them its gonna take 2 months then come back and say someone broke into ur house or whatever then come back and move it again, the server was supposed to release like 9 or 8 months ago, how did you even come up with that if u knew there's still alot to do?

  14. In-Game items sound ideal, doesn't have to be anything complicated at the start like you said, but it could eventually work with GUI-s. Players themselves could see their car's status from a GUI like this, shows when the battery needs changing and etc like it does IRL: Something like this could be implemented into the inventory system for changing the parts with in-game items. It could have two different versions, one being accessible by mechanics at the workshop and that shows all the parts. The other one being accessible everywhere else and only shows easily changeable parts like the battery. (Crude example for the picture but the best that I could remember from some game):

  18. Hi Everyone, This thread will be merely informative. Hopefully, this will help those who wish to roleplay around these drugs and have no knowledge or are lazy enough to look it up on the internet. Roadmap Amphetamines Benzodiazepines Cannabis Cocaine Crack Ecstasy Heroin Solvents Mephedrone NRG-1 Amphetamines This is a synthetic stimulant and it comes in the form of powder. There are variants and the powder could be white, yellowish, gray or even pink. It is snorted or ingested and it takes somewhere around thirty minutes before it takes effect. The effects that come along with consuming this drug are: Feelings of wakefulness; Alertness; Increased confidence; physical or mental activity; sociability; As the body's energy levels reduce the user is prone to feelings of anxiety, irritability, restlesness and also dizziness. With the constant usage of this drug, the user can develop tolerance, withdrawal is mostly emotional but there could be some feelings of depression, lethargy and extreme hunger. Benzodiazepines This is a prescription drug and they can be bought illegally on the black market. They are usually prescribed for short term treatment of anxiety and sleep problems. When this drug is taken at low doses, tolerance doesn't develop, however, if otherwise, their tolerance will develop quite quickly. The withdrawal symptoms include: Anxiety; Insomnia; Panic; Hallucinations; Depersonalization; Heightened sensory awareness; Depression; Risk of seizures with abrupt withdrawal; Cannabis Usually this drug is smoked along with tobacco but not necessarily. It's available in the form of resin, dried and chopped leaves, being oil the less common one. The effects of this drug may vary from person to person and also depending on which kind of environment they find themselves in and the ammount. Euphoria; Laughter; Vivid sensations; Imagery and hallucinations; Persistent ideas; Paranoia; Cocaine This drug is most commonly found as a white crystalline powder, and is usually snorted but is occasionally made into a solution and injected. The effects of cocaine are similar to amphetamines and crack in that they create physical and mental arousal. When cocaine is snorted the effect is almost immediate and then peaks and fades within 15 - 30 minutes. This often results in users repeating their use almost every 20 minutes or so in order to maintain the desired effect. The snorting of cocaine can lead to mucosal constriction and eventually perforation of the nasal septum. Crack This is similar to cocaine although the effects are even more extreme. They take effect immediately and last for about 10 minutes. Crack is usually smoked and this can produce particularly aggressive and paranoid behaviours. Crack is highly addictive, although reports that crack is instantly addictive are false. Effects for this one would be: Wellbeing; Exhilaration; Increased confidence; Loss of appetite; Indifference to pain and fatigue; Hallucinations; Paranoia; In rare cases users have died from overdose. Heavy and regular use can cause feelings of nausea, restlessness, insomnia, over-excitability and weight loss. Ecstasy Ecstasy mainly comes in tablet form but can come in capsules or powder. The tablets can come in a number of different colours and often display a logo. It is usually swallowed but is sometimes snorted; its effects are experienced after 20 - 60 minutes and can last for 3 - 6 hours. The chemical name for pure ecstasy is MDMA. Effects are as follow: Dilated pupils; The jaw tightens and there is often brief nausea; Sweating; Dry mouth and throat; Blood pressure and heart rate increases; Mild euphoric and hallucinogenic effect; Moss of anger; Empathy with other people and an enhanced sense of communication; Ecstasy affects the body's temperature regulation, with excessive dancing this can lead to overheating and dehydration - and in some cases death. It is recommended that users take small, regular sips of water but no more than a pint of water an hour as deaths have also been related to users taking in too much water, which is very dangerous to the body. Heroin Heroin is one of a group of drugs called opiates that are derived from the opium poppy. It usually comes as an off white or brown powder. A number of synthetic opiates are also manufactured for medical use and are open to abuse due to their similar effects to heroin, these include: Dihydrocodeine (Df118); Codeine; Tramadol; Pethedine; Diconal; Methadone and Subutex are prescribed as substitute drugs in the treatment of heroin addiction. Heroin is usually smoked ('chasing the dragon'), snorted or prepared for injection. Heroin is a powerful pain killer and has euphoric qualities. The combined effects make heroin a very effective escapist drug. Effects include: Sense of wellbeing; Feeling warm and content; Drowsy and untroubled; Sense of calm; Feeling of pleasure; Absence of worry, anxiety or pain; At higher doses, the user may become heavily sedated, be sleepy, unable to talk, and appear to fall asleep for a few minutes at a time. This is referred to as 'gauching' or 'nodding.' There is an unpleasant period of withdrawal (often called “cold turkey”). These symptoms may begin within 6 to 24 hours of discontinuation and last for weeks, or even months after. Symptoms include: Sweating; Malaise; Anxiety; Depression; General feeling of heaviness; Excessive yawning or sneezing; Insomnia; Cold sweats; Chills; Severe muscle and bone aches; Nausea and vomiting; Diarrhoea; Cramps; Fever; Solvents Solvents are rapidly absorbed through the lungs into the bloodstream and quickly distributed to the brain and other organs. Within minutes users experience intoxication, with symptoms similar to those produced by drinking alcohol. Intoxication lasts only a few minutes, so some users prolong the “high” by continuing to inhale repeatedly. The users initially feel slightly stimulated and after successive inhalations feel less inhibited and less in control. Hallucinations may occur and loss of consciousness. Sudden death syndrome is a risk, although rare it more commonly occurs amongst young people when using air conditioning coolants, butane, propane and some aerosols. These cause the heart to beat rapidly and erratically resulting in cardiac arrest. Long term users can suffer from: Weight loss; Muscle weakness; Disorientation; In-attentiveness; Lack of coordination; Irritability; Depression; Regular abuse of them can result in serious harm to vital organs. Serious, but potentially reversible effects include liver and kidney damage. Harmful irreversible effects include: hearing loss, limb spasms, bone marrow and central nervous system (including brain) damage. Mephedrone Mephedrone is a stimulant drug similar to ecstasy or speed. It comes in capsules, tablets or more commonly in powder form. The capsules or tablets are swallowed whilst the powder is usually snorted. Users report a feeling of 'coming up' or of rushes as the drug takes effect. The main effects include: Feeling alert; Sense of calm wellbeing; Excitement; Stimulation; Elevated mood; Chattiness; Dry mouth; Loss of appetite; Poor concentration; Increased heart rate; Raised body temperature; Racing heart; Panic; Sweating; Distinct fishy smell coming from sweat; The effects occurs within 10 to 20 minutes and on average last for 40 to 60 minutes. According to users there is a highly addictive quality to the substance. NRG-1 Naphyrone (NRG-1; Energy1) is a stimulant drug that is closely related to mephedrone with similar effects to amphetamines, cocaine and ecstasy. It is considered 5-10 times more potent than mephedrone or ecstasy. Naphyrone usually comes in the form of a white crystalline powder and is normally snorted or swallowed in wraps of paper. As with other stimulant drugs, harmful effects include: Adverse effects on the heart and blood vessels; Hyperthermia (overheating of body temperature); Increased body temperature; Likelihood to become dependent; Psychiatric effects including psychosis and anxiety; In extreme cases, amphetamine-like drugs like NRG1 can cause death due to cardiovascular collapse or heart shock. https://www.gov.je/Health/AlcoholDrugs/pages/drugseffects.aspx

  19. The university idea would work better in GTA V. However, it needs to be ran a certain type of way so it doesn't result in it becoming a cult of e-roleplay with no actual role play inside it. The main aesthetic of the university is the college-dorm life and teens being teens, not the learning. No one willingly will sit in a class room for ages and learn something nobody knows anything about. Put emphasis on group-orientated role play and group chats, college dorms, dramas, feuds, fights and drug selling/buying, BMX'ing, skating — it'll work well and can actually be very enjoyable.
