This game is hilarious and great to play with others. The team is up to a max of four and you basically go into a haunted house to try to figure out what kind of ghost you're dealing with. A few jumpy scares and creepy moments. Hmu also if you're into it and we can team up some time. (There's also Ghost Exile which seems like a total rip from Phas, but it's newer and not as polished)
  3. Yeah, in fairness I hope some thought has gone into 'placemaking' - creating proper hubs for certain types of RP and certain types of characters. Inevitably we'll end up with some kind of Idlewood pizza stack situation (probably that little mall near Mirror Park) but even so, it'd be nice to have properly themed areas. Back to the nightlife point though, I hope for diversity as we've discussed, and I hope that some thought has gone into making them profitable for owners. Otherwise we'll end up in a situation where nightclubs and bars are actually a drain on resources - this obvs shouldn't be the case.
  4. Hello hello and welcome back! I had a little RP with ROUX back in the day.
  5. Dunno where the disconnect happened but yeah, before reading the previous thread I'd have assumed that everyone was actually still fine with having SA as the 51st State. But after reading the arguments on there, and being convinced of them, it's clear that things are different and people do want something different. I think this clear majority should be respected. I'm only approaching this from the perspective of prioritising new player integration; in other words, not making it too difficult for newbies to understand the city they're RPing in, and also from the perspective of policing how the "borders" are interacted with in the game. So long as people aren't gonna be told off for using boats where there's water "because that is actually land" then that's fine. But perhaps the solution, to make that clear, is to update the map slightly to give us a coastline as I mentioned previously. It's a compromise sure, but the best solution as far as I can see. But as ever, I can be convinced otherwise.
  6. Guideline is cool then, so long as there's a degree of flexibility then I have no major issue here. Also with regard to Tseard's point on the map - I get this too. I know there's the 'suspension of disbelief' argument, but (without mentioning any specific names but I know you don't need me to) a certain other server has amalgamated the "we're an island" and the "we're replacing California" map. It looks ugly, but it is workable. I won't post it here because it'd look like we're stealing it, but I'd go down that direction rather than implying we're directly connected to the mainland via actual land. Then new players don't need to be told "you can't take your boat there because that's actually a landmass", but we can still stick with the California replacement. Unpopular opinion probs but hey, I'm full of 'em.
  7. Yeah I'm on board with that, in that case! Also good chat trés good. I have another avenue of discussion for a bit later on but might as well give other people a chance to comment too.
  8. Hmm nah this is the one part that's a hard no for me, I've seen many players roleplay their backstories as being from these locations, and taking away that seems slightly oppressive to me. Completely disallowing singleplayer lore makes everything slightly less accessible to those who don't quite have the same understanding of California as others do - which would then require people to have to read up on things, which just seems over the top to me personally. Especially if I were a new player, I'd want to feel that I at least know something about the city I'm about to RP in, without having to trail through Wiki articles on it. Personal opinion here though of course, as is the rest. Sorry if I've misunderstood - I've just seen your other comment Chuckles - so you'd be okay with using the names of these locations provided they don't use the GTA lore associated with it? I'm not entirely sure of the GTA lore associated with these other cities on this generation tbf so perhaps that's fine then. I'm mainly trying to get across that some people are gonna use singleplayer names for things, and that this should be fine imo.
  9. Great job with this folks, clear to see a hell of a lot of effort and thought has gone into it. My personal perspective is that the overall stance should be: San Andreas does indeed replace California, because it would otherwise be far too similar to its real-life counterpart to make sense, but we need to be mindful of the fact that we don't want people to have to research California itself just to understand how to RP on the server. What I mean by this is, giving a bit more leeway to some of the lore set down by the game itself. I know not everyone would agree with this approach and that's fine, but in my opinion it's a balancing act about making it realistic, without taking away our ability to also make this a unique city. We can't copy like-for-like, but we should take heavy inspiration from LA and California where appropriate to do so. With this in mind, these are the only areas that I would reconsider: - I believe others have already explained some pretty good reasons for this, but again, people are more likely to know the game lore than the real life lore, and a lot of folks have based their characters from here. I say allow flexibility, and don't outright ban the use of their real-world counterparts either. It wouldn't really affect anything I don't think. Linked to my overall opinion on the direction of this, particularly in the case of Cluckin Bell and other actual bricks and mortar businesses, I just think we allow flexibility here. If someone wants to say they visited Cluckin' Bell then so be it - it's in the game after all so educating everyone that "this doesn't actually exist because it doesn't exist in the real world" is a bit much imho. Besides some of the businesses have great names. Also linked to everything I've said... basically, I stand more along the lines of "if it exists in SP then it could exist in LSRP, especially if it's a business that someone's decided to name after the actual on-site location". Same goes for sports teams - if there's an in game equivalent, i'd go for that over its real life equivalent. Just my two penneth and appreciate this isn't quite the same direction you guys went in with your original thinking. Not hills i'd die on either, can be convinced otherwise, just thought I'd try to find a middleground a bit more between total California replacement and San Andreas. Will say again though, great work putting in the time and effort on making this this happen and for facilitating mature debate on this topic. Edit: also just to clarify, totally on board with California not existing, and it's clear to see the vast majority of the community supported this as per the poll on this page:
  10. Hrmmm I'm pretty sure that we're going to have Boiling Broke, the facility in Grand Senora, and that it'll be managed by the SD. Dunno what the plans are in terms of interiors and mapping etc, maybe @jack can shed some light on things?
  11. Eggs. I'm doing keto again on the run up to a likely holiday I'll have in April.

I do the same! But I've never managed to make mass transit even remotely profitable or close to breaking even. Trains in particular seem mega expensive, and not used nearly as much as metro.
  13. Thanks! And yeah actually I've never set it up myself, and not sure how it'll work in-game. It would be great to get player-operated stations a thing though, extra immersion and all that. I know it must take people a fair bit of time and effort to manage though, hence why I think some kind of compensation for their characters would be great. We as Gov could perhaps do standard advertising with them about positions that are open (for PD SD FD and GOV) as well as big policy changes, event ads etc. Eventually those sort of ads would ideally come from businesses themselves, but Gov could be the jumpstart in the beginning.
  14. Hey folks. When the server launches my character's gonna be running the Gov's Cultural Affairs department - which basically means we handle things like in-game events, working with religious/cultural groups, supporting artists and musicians, that sort of thing. We have a full 2022 events calendar already, so that's already well under control (and will keep us pretty busy). However I'd really appreciate your thoughts on some of the other things we could be doing. Mainly it's a case of seeing how much appetite there is for this sort of thing, and of course to get some ideas and fresh opinions. So here's what I've been thinking, off the top of my head: - An in-game art museum. A place which has actual paintings on the wall, with perhaps a command that opens a popup showing what the painting looks like. Paintings can be created by player characters, so long as they're original pieces (good for those who enjoy drawing or digital painting). This idea came from Maxim and I'm mad keen on it, but obviously it depends on how many people would want to RP an artist either professionally or as a hobby. Plus script limitations but I don't know much about that. - Support for in-game radio stations. I'm not sure how the setup will be in terms of player XM stations like it was on SAMP, but I like the idea of us providing some support (perhaps financially in the most basic instance) for players who put in the time to DJ, host shows etc. - Support for in-game news and media coverage. I know there aren't any in-game news reporting commands at launch, but that's promised for later down the line. The simplest form of support is again financial, perhaps subsidising it to some extent. Perhaps we could provide offices for them and other similar businesses, help them get advertisers and become profitable. - Support for music artists. I remember there used to be a lot of interest in this back in the day, but we'd need to consider what we'd allow player characters to claim as their own (ideally, I guess it would just be things that they create themselves, thus requiring the player to be willing to produce their own stuff). In terms of how to support, on top of financial aid, things like music festivals and maybe something we can do with in-game charts, music awards, etc. Open to thoughts! - Supporting 'tourism'. I'm getting into video editing a bit more so would love to create 'trailers' for the city, which can also then serve as trailers for the server itself to attract new players. So whether this is presented as generic tourism, or like encouraging immigration, or encouraging businesses to set up here... basically all of the above. I'd actually definitely like to do this one, just will require me getting better at video editing or relying on some helpful soul to provide assistance. All very open to suggestions so thanks in advance 😉 Edit: Oh also, if you're planning to do any of the above roleplay please hit me up or mention it here, as it'd be great to know how many people are likely to get involved in this sort of RP in the beginning.
  15. I agree with all points yeah, particularly the eyebrow colour separation! Bleached blonde hair looks odd when the eyebrows match since they're barely visible on paler skin tones.
  16. Yassss Scottish queen. Tell us what the topic will be xox
  17. Mostly seems like everyone's in favour of the Quest 2. Roll on payday and I'll give it a go.
  18. Well-written guide on an interesting topic, nice work!!
  19. Welcome! Also I like the idea of a club entertainment character. Good luck 🙂
  20. This I do agree with, fully. Smart people learn from their mistakes, really smart people learn from the mistakes of others. There's an opportunity here to do both. And yes, plenty of old returning players who've had enough experience to provide valuable insight, and who are mature enough to present it from a place of genuinely wanting the server succeed, without expecting anything in return. Though the issue is that I'm sure the leadership team will be swamped with people who have their own hidden agendas, as there always has been, so it's not always that easy to differentiate. Keeping the door open for suggestions and insight from folks in general is harmless however, and a huge step up from where we were a couple of years ago.
  21. I'm afraid this is as I stated on the previous thread; I basically don't see any demand for this right now, nor in the foreseeable future. It's best to consider ideas for which there are demand, such as security companies, media companies and so on.
  22. Yeah having read through everything here I'll throw my lot in with the "SA = California" view. Hopefully the results of the poll will be taken into consideration. Also I took a look at "another community" which has an entire section dedicated to continuity/lore, and an individual who is basically responsible for maintaining and updating it. There's also a very open Q/A thread, and suggestions seem to be taken into account, so this sort of thing would be nice to implement here. Think someone else made a fair point earlier regarding the fact that this is the sort of stuff we can proactively sort out before the server launches. I wonder what else could go on the list...
  23. I tried to learn Spanish over 2020 lockdown. Failed. Would definitely be useful for holidayz though.
  24. I respect that time and effort and thinking has gone into this idea, I really do. And it is different, of course. The thing is though that we're so far down the line with the jurisdictions and responsibilities of the PD/SD, that I do fall into the "Nice idea but not really needed right now" camp. Things that will probably be needed are things like actual private security companies - they were always popular and I've not really come across any of those yet. Some Governments do contract security work out as well, for events and so on, so it's not outside the realms of being similar to your proposition in that way. I think it best to take the approach of asking where there's a gap in supply for the demand of a certain type of RP, or IC service. For instance we don't have any media companies from what I've seen - so there'd be demand for that. Security, as I've said. There's no doubt more! Respect for the time put in but yeah, I think best to consider going back to the drawing board of ideas on this occasion.
