Thought I remembered you - what did you RP? Was it PD? Soz my memory is shit 'cause I'm an old bastard now. Greetings to you, and welcome.
  2. Welcome back. Your name rings bells (I tend to remember most folks who had a blue name). Good to have more old players coming back

O.G. to the tilted fedora. Characters: Allegra Nixon Several randoms Random Facts: 30 years young Male British. Northerner. Favourite show is/was GoT until the last series Favourite music is cheesy pop shite Played LSRP since 2008. Probably known for either A) being the Mayor in 2012 or B) randomly quitting aka 'pulling an Allegra' or C) unironically rocking a tilted fedora Also into FF14, strategy games and world domination Also best scene ever (spoilers GoT):
  6. Yeah I think that's a good idea. Might be the case that staff may run some of the businesses initially just to get off the ground. It'll be important for making sure that folks have a place to go, things to do etc in the first few weeks while many characters won't know each other etc. Having an idea of what the launch plan in general would be awesome really - get a bit of drumroll and hype.
  7. Anybody got VR sets? Been chatting on Disc earlier and am considering getting one. All I have is my old Playstation VR kit and I know things have come a long way since then. The Oculus Quest 2 comes highly recommend particularly as a first purchase, as it's pretty cheap compared to others on the market. With that being said, the main reason I want to get a kit is to play games like Skyrim and Fallout and feel like I'm in the world. Not too bothered about the arcade-style games tbf. So it'd be Steam games primarily. Other options have been the Valve Index and HTC Vive Pro 2 - both much more expensive but higher in resolution. So yeah, do you have VR setups for your computer, or are you considering getting one? Keen to hear more, plus how you get over any motion sickness because I know I got it pretty bad on the PS.
  8. I wonder how it’ll work in terms of taxes. Back in the day, funds for projects had to be requested by admins (requests like this were often rejected though). I guess I’d be interested in knowing more about the economy and where the money sinks will be, what proactive things are in place to limit inflation etc, but that’s not entirely related to the topic at hand here. So yeah, the degree to which gov will have access to city funds, and how much say it has in how such funds are distributed (potentially even going so far as to impact on public service salaries and all that) would be interesting to know too.
  9. Oh awesome, cool. I need to look into these systems more tbf.
  10. "Borrowing" a portaloo with the help of the SD in order to try and catch a corrupt politician using drugs. Playing the Mission Impossible theme in the background as we did it. It's a long story, best not to elaborate.
  11. This actually came up in the stream last night - it doesn't look likely that the "use two characters to combine their skin tones" option is going to be there at launch, but given that it was brought up twice by people watching (ok I was one of them teehee) it's something Mmartin said he'll think about. I suppose the main point on this one is that certain other servers do offer this, and character creation is going to be one of the first thing that potentially migrating players will do. Having less options than what they're used to isn't ideal. However with that being said, I'm no coder and I get that any major changes to features like this could cause problems and delays, which nobody wants. All I know is that Mmartin is listening to people and their ideas (refreshing), and although not everything can be accommodated, he and the team are gonna do what they can to make folks happy.

    Stellaris

I'm basically obsessed with all things Paradox, and although Stellaris has one of the steepest learning curves I've ever seen, it's well worth it once you get into it. They don't get it right all the time and some of the updates seem a bit insane - often majorly changing the gameplay and not always for the better. Even so, this game is so in-depth and addictive. Often I play as a standard fanatic purifier out to destroy everyone else; who has time for diplomacy when you can just purge everyone? The new "become the crisis" option is great fun too.
  13. Anything which gets people together, really. I keep saying this everywhere, but the map is huge and it's gonna be much more difficult to "bump into" people for RP, if that's your thing. Sure we'll have groups who will roleplay together as factions, but there's always going to be a lot of folks who don't belong to a group of friends on here yet, and will need to meet other characters to build their network. So in the early days, even small events like community BBQs, press conferences, races (think fitness races perhaps, or bikes), combined with business openings, should do the trick. I'm not averse to the big disruptive events provided they are few and far between, and obviously that they make sense. No zombie outbreak or anything like that. There was that time when Damian and the other admins roleplayed as Korean terrorists nuking the city while dressed as chickens, for instance.
  14. This one isn't mine, but I found it yesterday when chatting on Disc: Lots of old names in there! Oh and then there was the time that someone roleplayed burgling the estate while I was in it:
  15. A familiar name! Y’ello and welcome back.
  16. Bringing back Allegra Nixon, but not sure what to do with her next. She’s done politics and journalism to death. Maybe save up for a business or something. In the beginning though I’ll just keep her as an average civvy enjoying life in the city, holding some mediocre job somewhere.
  17. Can't go wrong with furniture slots tbf. Maybe more customisation, more outfits to save, that sorta thing.
  18. I think in the early days, the important businesses will be the ones which encourage players to gather together. Sounds obvious I guess, but one of the first problems we'll no doubt face is the fact that the map is huge, and there are less of us now. So creating little hubs for people to RP and meet other characters should be top priority imo. Plenty of great ideas in here from people on how that could look; cafes, bars etc. In the long term, some diversity from the standard nightclubs and bars would be great. Some unique things, maybe like resorts? Getting the golf club going? Tennis clubs? I'm so unoriginal I'm sure there are better ideas out there. Just anything new and different would be great.
  19. GoT before the last... two series? Still looking forward to House of the Dragon.
  20. Yeah I'm gonna be a cheesball and say GTA SA, but mainly for the fact that it led to LSRP. After that... Vice City was major, so was Scarface. Fantasy-wise you can't beat Oblivion though.
  21. Ahh yeah winner, I like Red Mage as DPS because the rotation is pretty simple and the animations are cool. Tried Ninja but the naruto run just... didn't do it for me. Dungeons, gear, overall look-and-feel is just amazing yeah I agree. Here's my character:

    Cities Skylines

I thiiiink I've tried that before - will check. I'm getting the hang of good road layouts now, and understanding better zoning. Public transport seems mostly pointless to me still though, other than metro. Also heard that the new Airport DLC is "mediocre". Looks like just another park life but with planes.
  23. It's been a looooong time since I RP'd with the LSPD on LSRP! I like the idea of the station itself being manned at the front desk, y'know for people to actually call in and report crimes or ask for help etc. Back in t'day the actual PD itself seemed quiet at the front, with most RP going on in interrogation rooms or what-not. Maybe hiring civilian staff for the front desk? Not sure whether civvy positions are something you're considering or already doing. I also remember that, when RPing as a journalist, I was heavily reliant on the PD to be open and share comments etc rather than just "no comment, bugger off and leave us alone" sort of thing. On World they often held press conferences and seemed very open about what was going on - this felt realistic and gave the civ RPers something to go to and do. Otherwise I think that, given this is a fresh start for you all, just try things and see what happens. Looking forward to seeing how things go, best of luck!
