  1. I used to run the Carson community back on LS:RP(inherited from Duke, and other players that first got it back in '14 I think) - it was very fun but GTA SA was very limited when it came to role-playing in small communities in the country-side. On the other hand, GTA 5 has a lot of potential in terms of country-rp, the only problem is that a lot of people will try to role-play 'rednecks' and 99% of their time will troll - these are the hardest people to get rid off when you're trying to run a fair community. Carson was sort of a faction, but without any designated mission: we all gathered and role-play, everyone had their thing, some people were flat earthers, others were old fashioned philosophers - but in the end we all gathered and role-played, sometimes we threw BBQs and invited the whole town..it was very friendly and open as a community( we basically had no rule when people tried to join is, since we wanted to be diverse). The only downside was that people weren't that interested in role-playing in such a small town like Carson, but GTA 5 can offer very nice and pittoresque places to enjoy. I remember I even got the job as the Governor for Bone County, and I always tried to make the life of our citizens a little bit better. Unfortunately we never had the support to have more houses placed(at the time, everything in Carson was bought and prices were very high for a group of people with little to no income). We wanted some things modded here and there, like a barbeque and some couches, and the only one that helped us was @Birdman - huge thank you for helping us out that much at the time :). Anyways, I'd be very nice to have a country side group of people to role-play, from farmers to metheads and moonshiners - hopefully the trolls will stay away because they always find a way to ruin any country-side role-play.

  2. It depends on what your categorization of 'fun' actually is and where you'd put it between light and heavy roleplay. In your description of 'old LSRP', I'd very much consider it light roleplay. There was no real standard effectuated until probably 2017-2018. This is the timeframe many of us would consider the 'golden age' of LSRP. What nostalgia does is bring you back in time-- to a time where 'roleplay' was a glorified game of cops and robbers. Everything was mediocre pre-2016/2017, the characters, the factions, and the staff. There has been huge growth in the years since and everything else is years gone by. I remember the days you explained like they were yesterday and if we were to go back in time, it'd be good for a few days until the novelty wore off. The sentimentality of the memories is the only reason they're being ennobled and I can guarantee what was 'fun' back then would be much worse than what they claim GTAw is now. At one point in time, LSRP was also in this position and it's to my understanding that they just haven't caught up to what was our 2017-2018 breakthrough point but that day will come and if we don't make our stance on heavy roleplay clear then the window of opportunity will close. Let me break down your last example for emphasis. This isn't realistic. This is someone's interpretation of 'fun' and this is what would plague the server if we didn't enforce a 'realistic' atmosphere. People have different definitions of fun because it's supposed to be something that you enjoy doing. These people obviously enjoy doing this, which is why it's so ruinous. They don't roleplay for 'realism' they roleplay for a release and if you enforce this 'standard' then this is the type of players you will attract by default. So on one hand, you're saying "That server is full of people RPing who they wish they could be" (which falls under the definition of 'fun' but on the other, you're saying "Everyone knows how to RP by now, lets have fun" (which also falls under the definition of 'fun') and what that is, is a double standard. If a server advertises itself as a 'heavy roleplay server' then it can't leave it open to interpretation. People can have 'fun' without being unrealistic. People can have 'fun' while being realistic. It all depends on the enforcement of this. I've been around since 2007 and I've played in every era of the server and going back to the 'old days' would be a step backward. Everyone and everything has evolved since then and it'd go against the grain to go back to a day and age where nobody had a real understanding of what 'heavy rp' actually was. I wouldn't by any means classify the competition as 'super realistic,' in fact, I consider them to be the opposite of that and if I were to categorize, I'd label them a light roleplay server. In terms of 'ultra realism,' I'd say we've always had a good balance. Factions and players have the creative freedom to do what they want as long as they can justify their actions or plans with logic. This is something I have been pushing for since I've returned and will continue to push for. What we need (more than anything) is clarity on where we 'stand' on these subjects from the administration. I think we all know where we'd like to stand, we'd just like reassurance.

  3. Planning to go back to the country side and role-play a civilian - nothing in particular, but a guy with previous mental problems who have killed 20 people in Poland, and was considered a serial killer but it was considered insanity and in the meantime he healed and moved to the states to have 'a new life'(the usual crap) - most likely will be very socially awkward and in 10 mins he'll be very friendly and charismatic - talking to himself, killing small animals...stuff like that - I'm trying to develop this very sick character that has almost to no good traits - from a drinking problem that messes up with his schizophrenia - but he has better periods, when he takes his medicine and acts normally - gets a job, and thinks his life will get better, only to get worse: it'll be a cycle like this, eventually dying in a very weird way or commiting suicide. but this is just an idea.

  4. I feel like the 'downfall' of LS-RP was because most of the 'elitists' (I say this loosely) left. This became evident by the state of the server pre-closure where the standards fell to an all-time low. There were factions in positions they'd never have been in without the decline and people in influential positions who were there to 'gatekeep'. I feel like we've missed the most quintessential part of a community for quite some time; an engaging community manager who picks up the slack for the developers (who are probably overwhelmed with work) and is articulate and knowledgeable enough to know the brand they represent. There's no real 'bridge' or liaison between the brand and the community right now to engage in these issues of 'transparency' or to create new or build on current relationships.

  6. Nightlife roleplay (bars, clubs, strip clubs etc.) play huge parts in both legal and illegal roleplay, even being the main income for certain companies/characters back on SAMP and surely will be the same here once the server launches. This topic is purely made to get suggestions and feedback on how the nightlife was handled back on SAMP and what would be the perfect way to handle this on LSRP:V. I personally would like to see nightlife to be handled like we had back on SAMP but more in-depth and expanded upon. Actually having to get scripted stock for your businesses (consumables like food and drinks especially), automated advertisement system (countered by having to pay more per advertisement compares to manual advertisements), and obviously map blips to showcase/advertise open businesses.

  7. Gambling should be made illegal. No more casino's and no poker table furniture for players to place at their house (no donators either). Instead leave gambling as a racket to illegal factions. LS-RP's gambling scene was an abomination. Players ran (if they were not bunnyhopping) to a dealer in a casino, paid them, then said 'hit' or 'stick' and usually bunnyhopped their way out again. Many of us thought things would improve with the release of the poker system. We thought wrong. Most of the poker games either had little to no roleplay at all. Soon players started exploiting the poker script. It was a way for players to sell their LS-RP money for real life funds without getting flagged. Then came a time poker could only be played at casino's, thinking it would improve roleplay and those looking to abuse the poker script to sell their virtual money for real life funds could no longer do it in private. However roleplay did not improve. LS-RP has one of the best illegal faction scenes (that is a fact). Making gambling illegal could be a huge win for the illegal roleplay scene. In addition to the drugs/weapons scheme, illegal factions should be able to qualify for gambling as a scheme. With a simple script, access to poker tables (and perhaps scripted blackjack and/or baccarat in a future update) is given to faction leaders who now have the ability to place the furniture in their businesses. Factions can be held accountable for players who abuse/exploit the system (as long as a faction is aware of what is going on of course). In addition factions can be held accountable for the quality of roleplay at their poker games. Most poker players on LS-RP are mallrats (with all due respect). Making gambling illegal forces them to interact with illegal roleplayers. Perhaps they can learn a thing or two about actual roleplay. Backroom poker games? LSPD/SD raiding those games? Stick ups? Amazing. Pros of making gambling illegal: creates additional roleplay opportunities for the illegal scene; improves the quality of roleplay which involves gambling; factions are now 'product owners' and can be held accountable for players abusing/exploiting. Cons of making gambling illegal: could potentially result in a loss of a small playerbase who only play LS-RP for /poker (good riddance I say); legal characters such as LEO risk more than illegal characters (e.g. getting suspended for getting caught at illegal poker games).

  8. Yea, that sounds like what we had on Carson - even though that type of redneck alabama charles manson shit can be very authentic if someone manages to do it without looking like a total troll. You can count me in, I'll roleplay a mentally ill polish guy somewhere in the country side, not sure where, but I'll be around.

  9. Thanks for the backstory it was very good! People always misunderstands when the subject country roleplay comes up cause people think we are all about redneck alabama charles manson shit. This is not the case, you can roleplay a redneck if you do it proberly. But there is so much more to do than that, a normal citizen living in the countryside, a farmer, a moonshiner, somebody who brews beer locally, the guy who owns the local bar, and the dude that works in the nearby shop, and of course the guy who plants his own weed and sells it for almost no profit to the locals. and the bikers, the people on a dirtbike everybody, and the guy with the tractor. So many roles out there to fill out and so many possibilites, I want trailer parks to be a thing out there, and not for meth RP but because it is a lifestyle for some people, and because it is alot cheaper. We want that kind of RP because it is a minority, and trollers would be dealt with no questions asked.

  12. You should always put yourself in front of the job bro. Im working also in the field of IT and tattoos are accepted. Its rather a society problem, but IT business is usually more open thinking and it shouldn‘t be a problem. (Depending on your country obvs)
