  3. Foreword There are 2 ways to play blackjack. The first is with /dice and the second is with /rnumber 13. I think everyone knows ”/dice blackjack” which is using /dice that rolls 1-6, you play up to 21 and the player goes first. Now, dice blackjack originated from Habbo casinos in the early 2000s using a piece of furniture called HoloDice where you could roll between the numbers 1-6 similar to /dice. Another similar game was 13 based on the exact same rules. However, /rnumber was introduced in LSRP SAMP in the early 2010s, and /rnumber 13 became the most optimal way to play real blackjack. The general player base never changed from /dice to /rnumber, and since /dice blackjack wasn't prohibited and casino owners weren't encouraged to use /rnumber only a handful of players (mostly in organized crime circles) adopted the optimal way to play. It's been some 20 years since Habbo so it's time realistic blackjack with /rnumber 13 was played across the board, and /dice blackjack died its death. It's an ancient relic of the early RPG era of SAMP and not a good standard of roleplay. That's only my opinion but no owner or manager of a legal gambling establishment should be allowed to deal /dice blackjack in 2023. Guide The way realistic blackjack with /rnumber 13 works is very easy. The values are as follows: 1 is Ace (1/11) 2 is 2 3 is 3 4 is 4 5 is 5 6 is 6 7 is 7 8 is 8 9 is 9 10 is 10 11 is Jack (10) 12 is Queen (10) 13 is King (10) Based on probabilities, that's the most accurate system. To play, the dealer deals themselves the first card face-up then the player hits until they stand, and the dealer completes the hand. That's the easiest and most optimal way to play bar none. Advanced players can implement double downs, splits, surrenders, rule variations, etc. which I need not explain.

  4. Hello, Today we're releasing our first Major Update 1.1. Let me share some thoughts on the features that are implemented, how the development process will change going forward, and what our immediate next plans are. We've listened to your feedback on forums, Discord, game, and basically anywhere you were willing to share it. I now understand just how important customization and the access to roleplay opportunities is important to our community and the updates from here on will reflect that. The full changelog is: - Added Tattoos - Added Makeup - Added business entrance rewards - Added loan extra payments & option to repay loan - Added another motorcycle and bicycle dealership with more showroom slots - Added ~1500 new furniture items - Added ~250 new hair styles - Added /confiscate for pd sd - Added LSFD siren, pager - Added auto cancelling inactive missions - Added Social Security payments even after level 3 (every 2.5 hrs instead of every 1 hour) - Added LSSD West Vinewood Station - Changes to the LSPD Traffic Station - Changes to the LSFD Faction Vehicles & Stations - Enabled weapon stores [setup may be pending] - Re-enabled reset appearance on UCP - Fixed dealership showroom vehicles not respawning - Fixed /localtime 0 - Disabled /extras for non-admin Tattoos Perhaps one of the most important missing pieces of character customization were tattoos. We decided to split the tattoo feature into three releases, with the base script starting today. You can find several tattoo shops around the map and use /tattoo to configure your appearance. The system allows you to specify 6 levels of opacity for each tattoo, it can be as transparent or as opaque as you want it to be. As with many things in the gamemode, we aim to create consequences for your character's actions. To remove a tattoo, you need to attend a laser removal session to decrease the opacity of the tattoo until it's completely gone. The lower the initial opacity, the faster it is to remove. This baseline tattoo script is released with the native tattoo set. We've reached out to Factions and are compiling a pack for faction-oriented tattoo, to give every type of a faction enough variation to represent their character accurately. If you'd like to be a part of this, please reach out to DDaniels. Custom tattoos are currently very high on our priority list and we already started working on them. In the third phase of the tattoo system roll out, we want to add faction/company specific tattoos and allow players to create their own tattoo parlors, to give unique tattoos to other players. Other Customization Besides tattoo, we've also added over 250 new hairstyles and over 1500 new furniture items. We've finally populated and enabled our makeup script - you can find a few beauty stores around the map marked by a blip of lips. The initiative of course doesn't end here and we're looking at adding more clothing items and accessories next. Economy We put a lot of thought and effort into our current economy system. We got some things right, but clearly we've missed the mark in some places. Here are some of the changes we've made in 1.1 to stimulate the economy: Social Security is extended past level 3. You will receive payments like before, except every 2 hours 30 minutes instead of every 1 hour of play time. Entrance Rewards for businesses. Your business can now be configured by Company Team to receive a cash reward for every unique visitor over a period of time. It's hard to extract the same profit from characters in-game as you can IRL, this system is meant to reflect realistic earnings a business would have. Our goal here is to promote RP and encourage players to set up businesses that are frequented by players. You can now make exceptional payments, or pay off any loans early with zero interest. All furniture items are temporarily free. The list does not end there. We're currently revisiting overall earnings once again, and will be increasing them in the near future. We won't be changing the economy model as a whole, but rather shortening the earnings cycle to allow everyone, regardless of their available time to earn more money. Release Cycle From here on, we'll focus on a more dynamic release cycle. We chose to bundle several highly requested features together for 1.1 and we won't be doing this for updates going forward. Instead of working on a single update for 2-3 weeks, we'll instead release features as they're ready. This will allow us to test faster and deploy more frequently. Player Retention The server roll out is currently going according to our predictions. After initial spike of interest, the numbers are starting to settle down and we're approaching a baseline for our community from where we can freely grow upwards. We do however understand that we could be doing much more for player retention. We've identified a few steps to take within the staff team and will be implementing them, if we haven't already, shortly. Thank you for all your extensive feedback. We value it and learn from it as we enter the new space that is GTA V.

  6. I understand fully that this was a decision done by management and I appreciate the efforts done by Roze to create a realistic model. It was clearly a success and really feels like IRL, this struggle for high car payments + rent (or mortgage) feels like my current situation IRL. But this is not what a RP server should stride towards and let me explain. The current system forces you to grind to afford very basic needs (vehicle+rent) and limits role-play instead of promoting it. Let's say your rent is 200$ a week and your car payment after a 15% down is 500$. It means you have to net a clear income of 700$ minimum weekly to survive. Doesn't sound so bad on paper, but in the current state of the server this means you have to focus work for at least 3-5 hours a week. Which is terrible, especially if your character cannot truck, mow lawn, fish or pick garbage since it might not be realistic for the said character. And sure I know what the reply is; just wait for businesses to hire people and work at a business. Firstly, there's a lack of cash-flow on the server and the cash-flow will always be an issue with this model. No cash-flow, low income, high weekly cost to survive equals less money to spend on said businesses. If you don't have much spare income how are you supposed to go spending if you barely have extra. What if you want to spend 3-4 hours role-playing something that isn't money related? You are screwed! Please revamp the whole system, it's broken and it steers players towards asset over role-play. Currently LS-RP is trucking simulator , fishing sim and lawn mower sim in GTA V. All you see is people grinding since they want to afford a down payment on a vehicle they want. I'm not pointing fingers, I just ponder why it was chosen. Also if you are going with a low income system, furniture should be 100% free with these prices makes no sense to have to pay to furnish an interior. And while I didn't touch the illegal side of income (Which will arrive eventually). No cash-flow issue arises once more and your char might not have money to afford drugs or illegal goods. So I skipped this part for that reason. Fun vs realism is the debate here and I feel like we're too far over realism. I would highly advise a poll or something to have a feel for what players want. It's not too late to fix the system, but I know for a fact it already drove people away. The current realistic system drives away the fun, but who really asked for realism? And while it's done to avoid over inflation, said inflation is going to happen anyways at a very very reduced pace since of the cash-flow issue. But it'll happen regardless once the server runs out of the most valuable thing which is property (excluding apartments). TLDR: Current system forces grinding to afford basic needs and reduces role-play instead of promoting it, even if inflation is inevitable in the end.

  8. The economy is a lot more forgiving than people think it is. Yes cars are $20,000 but you're splitting that into 40 weekly payments. That's $500 a week and you get $285 paychecks an hour. I fail to see how this means a daily grind. You can't dedicate 2 hours a week? And when it comes to drugs and guns, this server is actually far more accessible price wise. You're not paying 20-30k for a pistol and 100k+ for a rifle, not even in the context of this server's economy. I just think people don't get the financing system, which granted could use some more work.

  9. I remember how that worked in SAMP. When people roleplayed something and failed, they went to their OOC piggy bank and refinanced instead of learning from failures and being smart about making their operations profitable. Personally, I don't see how someone who has money and wants to roleplay a bookmaker but doesn't know how bookmaking works and operates at a constant loss, is more authentic roleplay than someone who starts from scratch, learns how bookmaking works, makes a profit, and separates themselves from the rest. The exact same fundamental concept applies to practically everything. People bet money because they didn't care if they won or lost. Since they didn't care if they won or lost they did less or no research. The bookmakers running betting shops didn't know how to balance the books or use margins and make odds but you know what? They didn't care learning because they didn't care if they won or lost. Why go through the hassle of learning about bookmaking? Why put time and effort into balancing the books? Why make a 7-8% margin on a $20,000 book or why risk loan sharking if someone can go bartend for an hour and make the same amount of money. That's exactly what breaks immersion and makes the environment completely unrealistic. You can have a different opinion without being an immature hater. Refrain from name calling and personal attacks, and focus on discussion points. If you fuck that up we ain't got nothing to talk about. It's the 4th day I'm waiting for a response to my business lease application. Am I complaining? No. I go out and roleplay in the meanwhile. If I get denied it's because I need to put more time and effort into it. Think it through. Make sure I can operate it actively and profitably. The property team doesn't owe me shit and I'm entitled to nothing. My output depends on my input. Period. I wasn't going to respond to that but I'll tell you what creativity is. Creativity is when you're a low-level Mafia associate who's in debt (and when I say in debt I mean really in debt not your imaginary little roleplay scenario you painted with your friend for screenshots ”to grow your character.”) and you got until the end of the week to come up with an envelope otherwise your character will be killed off permanently. You can't go to your OOC piggy bank. You can't keep roleplaying a gangster because you want to. No. You have to go out there and figure out how to make money. That's creativity. That's authenticity. Because it's real. Not ”let me have a business and endless trunks of money so I can make pretend I'm a gangster, and everyone should respect me because that's what I choose to roleplay.”

  11. I thought the plan was to delay the server until it was feature rich so you had a comparative advantage against your major competitor? 1.5 years later and you release a barebones server anyway, that looks like it needs another 1.5 years of dev. Frankly, I think you guys severely underestimated the market for text-based GTA 5 RP. Some of you probably still think there are hundreds of players out there waiting to discover or move over to LSRP. There isn't. It's a limited subset of a community that's largely focused on voice RP, and the market isn't growing. It also doesn't help that there's now a 3rd player entering the market soon that will likely take a chunk out of your share of the pie too... This is a masterclass on how to fuck up a server launch. Your best bet was to offer something different from everyone else; instead, you open a server with a meta that came straight out of 2013 SAMP. No one wants to grind 40 hours of fishing just so they can RP what they actually want. You guys have done nothing innovative or interesting with this concept despite some of you having more than a decade of experience in GTA RP, and it's really disappointing. It's like you were banking on riding the wave of SAMP nostalgia and GTA W hate to establish your community. Now you're stuck trying to make a PB of 150 W rejects and ban evaders somehow "work". Judging from mmartin's sarcastic responses and constant deflection, it doesn't sound like you guys are smart enough to take the criticism to heart. Good luck.

  12. Just bring back old system. You guys are forgetting, we are LS:RP. How many people over here had millions sitting in banks and we used the funds to create RP, using cash to purchase properties, furniture them for sick ass vibes and all that. We don't care about money, we just use that shit to create more possibilities. When I was running Russian scene on SAMP, I'd have my crew scout some cars and snap pictures of them. Pass it over to me and I'd forward to other organized crimes that were my business associates. They'd get back with me with the car they liked and my crew would jack that ride, we'd RP the entire process of document, VIN swap and all that and after couple days of RPing in garage doing all that, I'd buy the car from DS and sell it half-price to the OC affiliate. So if its elegant that was 120k, I'd sell them that for 60k, but I'd just raise up prices of gun/drugs for a little while until 60k would be paid off, but that would take even up-to 2-3 month for them to slowly pay it back to balance it out, but core point is...we used money to create sick RP instead of grinding/waiting for cash for months to create more RP. Don't forget the important factor that, lots of us are older these days. This ain't 08-2016 where we were young and had plenty of time on our hands, majority of players are probably mid 20's right now and when you wanna come IG to be able to do epic shit that you been doing on here since 07-09 and etc... grinding for cash from beginning is pretty harsh. If not, at least give us good cash boosts. Let people get back on their feet , get some vehicle, property and such. Because expecting everyone to follow "realistic" economy is harsh, because end of the day. Economy will still get fucked up, it's just matter of time. Multiple servers across all platforms tried it, but end of the day. It's a game and nobody wants to grind. On LSRP we got standards, there's special thing about us and nobody gave a shit that you had couple hundred grand sitting in the bank. 80 percent of people RP'ed broke or fitting their characters-RP developing assets, nobody proper RP'ed having mils in their bank. How many gang members out here had millions, but RP'ed broke as shit, but used the funds to purchase vehicles, get properties mapped out so it feels enjoyable to RP around whole hood scene...

  14. I think we've gathered enough feedback in regards to people's first impressions of the server. The thread has been derailed for a bit; please refer to a separate general discussion thread to discuss individual concepts, or suggestions board to discuss features. We've learned a lot and will continue to learn as we implement highly sought after features in the upcoming days and weeks. I hope we can show you that through consistent development and updates.
