Happy spooky season to all my spooky fellows! This staff update isn't going to be big as we're currently testing a game update and I don't want to take away from the big update post that we're going to be doing for the game update! I do have some cool news for this update though to share with you Illegal Faction Team updates I am happy to say that @Flip has been added to the Illegal Faction Team Council! Flip has been with LS-RP for a long long time and it's honestly a big development for IFT and the Council that he has been added to the team. I'm excited to see what Flip can bring to Illegal Faction Team. Further, if you haven't seen it, it was universally understood by the factions of yesteryear that IFT are the best authority to go to for knowledge on factions. Somewhere along the line this changed and so we have updated our server rules to bring IFT back into the loop on all things faction! When requesting permission to attack a faction property (house, complex, business, and more) then you will now need the pre-approval of the Illegal Faction Team Council - reporting ingame will no longer be enough to fulfil such a request. And without further ado, congratulations to our newly promoted staff members ... Game Admin Flip Trainee Admin Maxolino - kaibr - unlawfulact - Proxy And welcome back to our recently returned staff members ... Game Admin Spanion Tester FuLL10 points

“The Court has reviewed the filings from both parties regarding the timing of the Defense’s Reply Brief and the Plaintiff’s subsequent motion for default judgment. I) It is noted that the Defense filed its reply brief after the deadline of September 30th, 2024, as ordered by the Court. While the Defense’s response was indeed filed late, the delay appears to have been a matter of a few hours and not a significant or willful disregard for the Court’s deadline. Given that this is not a case of prolonged delay or bad faith on the part of the Defense, the Court finds that default judgment under Rule 55 is not warranted in this instance. The lateness of the filing does not, in itself, result in undue prejudice to the Plaintiff or significantly impact the progression of the case. Therefore, the Plaintiff’s motion for default judgment is denied. II) The Defense has requested summary judgment based on the arguments presented in their reply brief. While the Court acknowledges the Defense’s position, fairness requires that the Plaintiff be given the opportunity to respond to the Defense’s motion for summary judgment. The issues at hand—particularly involving questions of probable cause, First and Fourth Amendment rights, and contributory negligence—are significant and require thorough examination of both parties’ arguments. Therefore, the Court grants the Plaintiff the opportunity to file a response to the Defense’s motion for summary judgment. The Plaintiff is given three (3) days from the date of this ruling to submit their response, after which the Court will evaluate both the Defense’s motion and the Plaintiff’s counterarguments before rendering a decision on summary judgment. The Court seeks to ensure that the case is resolved based on a full consideration of the facts and arguments from both sides, without resorting to procedural shortcuts. As such, the request for default judgment is denied, but the Plaintiff’s right to respond is upheld to maintain fairness in these proceedings.” Signed, Judge Hockenbeyer1 point

600 people would be nice during peak hours, would be sick to see that again.... but as a northern european, it hurts my soul when I log on from 15:00 to 21:00 at night I see maybe 50 players online to maybe 120 people at most, which is super sad. ( It's like the player count when the server shut down 4 years ago) The server is very active on the american side, I often see 200+ so i'm feeling alot of the european players have vanished and for some reason not returning like the americans do? dunno. I can only speak for myself, but i'm often about to log in, but see 50 players online, and it'll choose to wait until maybe 22:00 ( in a weekend only ) to log on, so I know there's more people to interact with and the city doesn't feel unusually dead and empty.1 point

IMO sounds like just another convulted rule that limits RP and fun. Back in the day people used to wait in the fish selling point to rob you and no one complained. There's too much nuance to learn in the rules that it's nearly impossible to follow for the average player. IC matters should be dealt with IC.1 point

Just eliminate the player limit altogether. I've seen plenty of videos of large mobs of men running a guy's pockets. There's no 'realistic limit' for an amount of people to rob a guy — a victim is a victim and will be treated as such in the hood. Keep the rest of the rule change if you like. My logic is that there's no reason to create an arbitrary restriction that opens players up for punishment and wastes admin time when the typical reward for a robbery is so pitifully low anyhow. Long gone are the days when you'd pocket $5,000 from hitting a lick. Now you either know beforehand that they have guns or drugs, or you get a pittance. Why wrap that up in more red tape? Not true, of course. Countless number of scenarios that would call for a robbery by more than 2 people lol. This is just throwing the baby out with the bathwater, totally arbitrary rule. I'd wager that, these phantom 'robbery squads' aside, the people affected by this rule change will be players committing a robbery in a SMALL GROUP of more than two people finding their roleplay put on pause by an admin telling them it's unreasonable to roleplay a robbery with X amount of players. Even Bonnie and Clyde had backup. Who had the bright idea that this was a good change?1 point
