Greetings LS-RP! Over the past few days, I have been working to make LS-RP a better place for both staff and players. Firstly, I want to address some issues within the staff team, as they have been mentioned multiple times by both community members and staff. We have started to remove inactive members from the team. By the end of the month, all of our current "dead weight" will be removed. After receiving suggestions here and internally within the staff team, I’ve revised some of our policies. One of the revisions concerns the rule that admins can’t handle their own situations. While the policy wasn’t explicitly worded this way, it was intended to prevent conflicts of interest or bias when admins were involved in situations. Admins could handle these situations if no other admin was available, but this was often misunderstood and didn’t happen in practice. For the sake of both players and the admin team, this rule has been removed. The admin team is now expected to use common sense, along with the training they received during their Trainee Admin phase. Regarding policies, we’ve clarified our stance on "education over punishment." I believe this stance was misunderstood and taken too literally. Since the rule was introduced, there has been excessive leniency within the staff team when it comes to punishments. For example, you might have seen a level 30 player breaking basic rules and receiving multiple warnings instead of being properly punished. Our Admin Team has now been instructed on how to handle these situations, and you will see us becoming stricter with those who have previously abused this leniency. In the past week or so, we’ve also increased the number of active mappers and modders on the team. You may have seen some of their work on our Discord. For those who haven’t, I’ll display some examples below that will be included in our next update. The following is a WIP / Example of what the mapping team is up to, this is to do some long awaited map updates (THIS IS NOT FINAL AND CAN CHANGE) : Along with this, I’ve worked with IFT/IFTC to establish a direct line of communication between our teams. This is aimed at improving wait times, communication, and addressing the various concerns that have been brought up in this thread. A special shout-out to anyone who has previously had issues with requesting maps or receiving responses from the modding or mapping teams. If you have maps ready and just need them added, feel free to send them over to me, and we’ll verify and add them. One key point that has been raised is the new player experience. As @ROZE is our Head of Player Experience for SA-MP, I’ve asked him to investigate how leadership and development can improve this experience from the very beginning. We’ll have more insight and information on this soon. If you have any clear examples, please direct them to @ROZE. I know there are many more points in this thread, but I hope this provides the transparency the community has been seeking. I will be working through the thread and taking everything into consideration, addressing quick wins where possible. Larger and more complex issues may take time to resolve, but I appreciate that the time to act is now, and we are doing just that. I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas festivities and spending time with loved ones. That’s all from me for now. Peace & Love, Jack9 points

I've been trying to get some mapping added around Jefferson since (checks logs) 2019. Since the re-opening I've been PMing back and forth with Caledonite and all I got was fuck all. Even got somebody to help us out, did parts of the mapping and when we needed help with a few things, nobody could be assed to give us a hand. And then, my ideas got shut down because they don't fit with the LS theme. Thank fuck the DayZ mapping fits. And its conveniently outside of our turf, great. After seeing the 656th precinct added and mapping done in bum fuck no where near the prison, I gave up hope. God forbid one of the largest faction on the server (that struggles with retaining players btw) and is still active gets some features added in to motivate people to play even more and just add something new to the scene. Or at least checking in with us "hey guys, check out his DayZ corner yall can do shoot outs in, ya like?". Had to see the abomination through leaked staff chats. Smh. Anyway I lost all hope atp. Edit: 38St has the same issues as well. And from what I can see, the mapping that 38St did themselves and asked to get added to the server, and the shit I just seen above, doesn't fucking match at all. But I guess communication is hard in 2024. Edit 2: On second glance, thank fuck for the hobo-land corner on east LS. I bet it will get the spot jumping. Why is the mapping team hell bent on creating mapping that benefits nobody and doesn't bother checking in with ACTIVE FACTIONS ON THE SERVER? Where RP is actually being done? Where the mapping can be used most? Fking hell.3 points

Hiding it so public opinion doesn't cloud judgement on a staff report, while I'm all for transparency the case with Iudex was black and white hacking. This one is a little more complex with it surrounding LFM Rules, investigation into the situation, and so forth. Last thing we need is for public opinion to go right out the window and demand action when the clip is severely out of context! The report has been forwarded for investigation regardless. Along with that, if you look at the recommended post on this topic, it offers nothing constructive from a brand new burner account. This topic is not the place to do it, you get transparency when we are certain of actions and conclusions.2 points

I'm back for SA-MP. I am living proof you can't teach old dogs new tricks, looking forward to catching up with old faces and playing with the OG's of this community.1 point

Of course when a certain team tries to implement some kind of change and do something for the server, there's that one person who just has negative things to say and isn't being helpful at all. Instead of giving a proper suggestion as to what can be done, you lot decide to shit talk when there's some kind of progress, which then further demotivates a team who's dedicated and eager to bring something new to the table.1 point

In their critique of the server, these two posts might seem at odds, but they actually complement each other and highlight an issue that's been plaguing LS-RP long before its 2021 shutdown. It could be argued, in fact, that it was specifically this issue that caused the shutdown itself, as at the time RAGE was nothing out of the ordinary and other communities were (and still are) a mere copycat of LS-RP at its finest. The issue is that LS-RP stopped innovating years ago. Ever since its opening, LS-RP had always been at the forefront of innovation when it came to both scripts and roleplay ideas. Systems like DamianC's vehicle scripts or Mmartin's garages and commissary were unheard of, and something so far ahead other communities could never hope to catch up. Likewise, on the creative side, you had absolute novelties in terms of roleplay, things that no other server had ever tried or even considered, factions that players themselves had ideated organically (often after lengthy fights against conservative staff members who only wanted to conserve their power) and dramatically helped move the narrative away from just cops and robbers into more cinematic territory, such as SADOC or Meadows DTO. People wanted to be part of LS-RP because some things were simply impossible to roleplay anywhere else. LS-RP was the only server among English-speaking ones to have a vibrant prison scene, boasting three prison gangs at most times and a correctional faction, just because a bunch of players figured they could try to make it work. Long before the trucking scene was taken over by these ridiculous poorly portrayed business conglomerates, players self-organized into Reg's Trucker Association, which was the only representation of an union you could find anywhere. With nothing but resolve and the belief that going back-and-forth on the forums could be as fun as shootouts and pursuits, a small band of people managed to convince LFM to let them organize a State Legislature and brought a completely new kind of roleplay to light (at least until LFM decided to tear it down with dynamite). Starting from a barebones taxi script that charged laughable rates, people set up Unity Taxi, which was so successful and provided so much roleplay to the civilian scene it broke the longstanding assumption that no business faction that wasn't illegal would ever be given official. When some players decided to found an Armenian gang, they were laughed at, as gangs had to mandatorily be black or latinos, until those Armenians proved through their roleplay that idea wasn't far-fetched at all and eventually earned official status, after which nobody laughed anymore. And although some other communities might want you to think they're the first to have ever thought of turning the docks into a source of roleplay, LS-RP had a working Port of Los Santos in 2015 already, and its security was far less obnoxious than any of the subsequent iterations. There was a constant, deeply ingrained sense of moving forward, not necessarily towards better roleplay or more popular ideas, but forward nonetheless. People weren't scared of exploring new avenues to create roleplay, dismantling things that didn't work anymore (and in some cases even those that worked but could be organized differently), making mistakes and going back to the drawing board for another round of thinking if need be. There's nothing like that now. The server is at a standstill. Aside from a few long-running remarkable concepts like Valenti, there's very little that sets LS-RP apart from other communities. And there's zero interest in changing this, because there's an almost pathological fear that trying something new is going to doom the server combined with a deep denial of the actual state of things. It became preferable to lose players dissatisfied by how things are going by the dozen and running the server into the ground than take a leap of faith and touch a status quo that has been the same for almost a decade at this point. Look no further than this very topic, where the Head of Legal Factions tells people with a straight face that "all legal factions are running optimally" despite the LSSD, again as this thread proves, barely shows face in game, is torn apart by internal strife and crippled by a structure that should've been reformed months ago but wasn't because "you're meant to portray LASD", "this is just SoCal" and other assorted platitudes. LS-RP didn't scare so easy. That's what made it great. The only way to bring back the old playerbase, other than a time machine, is to bring back what brought the old playerbase here in the first place: creativity and boldness and perhaps add into the mix a staff that works with the players instead of for or against them to create something unique. If you keep doing what you've been doing so far, you'll mostly get the same results. And while you can ignore reality, the current numbers prove very well that you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.1 point

Paid & Laid INC. is a modernized twist on Black Organized Crime Roleplay. This concept aims to be ever-evolving and never stop in the comfort zones that other factions on the server have embraced, i.e. spamming the same screenshots of drug sales & posting up on a corner everyday. This group is an off-shoot of the Blanco—Longoria DTO and a part of an in-character Organized Crime Syndicate that has formed around Blanco—Longoria's operations, it's also one of the direct ways to get involved with the faction. Seeking us out ICly is the preferred method of joining, but due to timezones and other activity restrictions we encourage newcomers to give a heads-up through a forum PM to @Marco Polo.1 point

SAN ANDREAS PAUL GRUMO, ALLEGED BOSS OF LOS SANTOS CRIME FAMILY, DIES AT 63 Booking photo of Paul Grumo following his arrest in 2021. (Los Santos Police Department) BY HAROLD DALEY Dec. 10 Updated 9:01AM PT LOS SANTOS — Paul Grumo, the alleged boss of the Los Santos crime family, was found dead in his Palomino Creek home Sunday morning. The 63-year-old died suddenly in his sleep, and authorities stated it is too early to comment on whether or not foul play factored into the death. Born and raised in Tampa, Grumo is believed to have got his start in organized crime working for the Valenti crime family’s long-time Florida-based caporegime Frank D’Armi as a bookmaker in the late 1980s. Grumo moved to Los Santos in 2013 when the Valenti family was in a state of turmoil with much of its upper echelon behind bars or on trial and deadly power struggles decimating the family further. Grumo has been linked to notorious Mafia bigwigs from Santino “The Butcher” Valenti’s inner circle such as the now-imprisoned Samuel “The Beak” Beccarini and Donald Rigazzi, who currently resides in Tampa. Grumo was released from prison in 2009 after serving a 5 year sentence for aggravated assault, but otherwise managed to stay under the radar of law-enforcement and out of the public eye for much of his criminal career, until rising to the top of the Valenti crime family in recent years. Grumo faced a lengthy trial before eventually being acquitted of money laundering charges last year. In stark contrast to Sonny Valenti—who through his bloody rise and high-profile trials became a celebrity and embraced a life of luxury, often seen wearing expensive suits, driving flashy sports cars, and lived in a Richman Hills mansion—Grumo largely managed to avoid headlines and exhibited a more humble lifestyle. Mafia pundits point to Grumo as being a key figure in the rebuilding of the Valenti crime family, ushering in an era of stability for an organization that had been in constant turmoil since the 2011 conviction of its original boss Sonny Valenti. The Valenti family, once thought to be completely defunct, began making significant inroads and a resurgence in the Los Santos underworld in 2018 and beyond, which came to the surface with their bloody feud with the renegade Bellantonio crime family in 2019 and 2020. Since then, there has been no violence linked to the Valenti family. Authorities believe that the rival organizations negotiated a peace treaty and cut all business ties, through the help of mediation from Bonanno family bigwig Joseph “The Barber” Uttaro. The impact Grumo’s death may have on the landscape of the Valenti family and Los Santos underworld remains to be seen. Some believe that Sonny Valenti still holds the top seat in the family from behind bars, but his level of influence in the family’s modern state of affairs is largely unknown. The Butcher’s earliest possible release date is 2036.1 point
