+1

this could actually help even more in bringing the players on SAMP because everything is mostly set on old forums and people can see all the old factions and also if some people want to bring them factions back it's easier for them to do it on the old forums

+2.

I also think these forums should be separate.

A lot of work has going into moving the old boards into what they are now — and in order to keep everything tidy, we’ve decided to create a SA-MP Category on these boards, which will soon be accessible to the community.

I understand the motivation behind wanting the old boards for SA-MP, but unfortunately we won’t be moving them out of their current state.

Strawman applications going to open? And if so, can Ex strawmen get instantly reinstated or do they have to go through the application process again?

Yet to be confirmed when they’ll open, @Spanion may be able to shed more light. Previous holders will need to re-apply.

Are you gonna add a screenshot & videos section to the SAMP area like there is on the old forums?

We're discussing SAMP areas internally so expect to see some changes to the forum structure (including the possibility of screenshots / modding section / more)

Strawmans applications are going to be now solo schemes, and will be opened two to four weeks after SAMPs official launch. Ex scheme holders WILL have to re apply since it is a new IFTC and IFT staff. Same goes for factions that are coming back that are wondering if they can get their old schemes back. You'll need to re apply when it's opened.

Just to clarify why we aren't using the legacy forums for SA-MP:

- The legacy forums run on, as the name suggests, legacy code which is vulnerable and very unstable. We had to spend hours every week if not more just to keep the forums up and fix them anytime we've made changes in the admin panel because something random broke. It eats a lot into the time we could spend doing something more productive.

- It'd be twice the amount of accounts to have and maintain for a lot of people. Twice the forums to oversee and moderate.

I 100% understand the sentimental value of the legacy forums and that's why we agreed to put them back up, even though it's an additional cost both infrastructure wise (running an old phpbb version with almost 9 million posts indexed isn't cheap) and time wise (we still need to maintain them somewhat, because they've sporadic issues). Having them in an archived, read-only mode is a compromise we've made where they're still available for everyone to browse, but won't cost us an arm and a leg in time and hosting costs as if they were fully operational.

We are working on making this community forum more enjoyable for everyone to make players used to the SA-MP forum feel more at home, but it's out of the question to return the legacy forum to an operating state. I'm here for the nostalgia, but we need to collectively embrace some level of change.

What will happen to the old government faction forums? (sd.lsgov, pd.lsgov etc.) Will the previous faction members be allowed to access them anytime soon?

As far as I'm currently aware, the Government Agencies are using their new forums for SA-MP activity, not the old ones. Therefore anything to do with SA-MP, should have a new section in the new forums as appropriate.

will we still keep our properties? for example if we owned a house, do we keep it or will they get wiped because of inactivity?

Yes! Old properties and basically anything you had when the server shut down, will still be there. But everything will be subject to the usual activity requirements when the server does open.

Hope this answers your questionz.

Put the SAMP forums at the very bottom of the forum, easier to navigate then. Everything above it can be GTA V related.

Will we see any script updates or any devs dedicated to SAMP?

Yes they will continue to update the script of the server from time to time, according to what was said in the last community meeting.
