Last night's ride-along had to be cut short because of Rancho situations popping up every 2 minutes. Multiple LSPD officers were shot. Shots were fired at LSSD deputies' vehicles. There was an active war going on last night and this led to different altercations between the gangs and the PD / SD. That area was declared a hot zone and patrols had to adapt and change from solo patrols to partnered up and high alert. Imagine you're rolling 3 deep and you get pulled over for not stopping at an intersection. You're packing and you notice 2 more cruisers park themselves strategically on the opposite street. Now, it's only natural to think they might be after you, frisks are possible so you start to make up scenarios in your head. If you get pulled over around Rancho, there's a big chance those other patrols are there just as extra protection for the traffic officer, nothing else. But it can escalate rather quick when you believe you're being cornered. So in most cases the stopped vehicle will probably take off and start a chase. We know very well that most criminal role-players will jump out and start shooting at the PD / SD when their car gets disabled. When you create this type of environment, all you're doing is getting more and more attention against your area. So while some PD / SD are working on portraying their character in a realistic manner putting their safety first and trying not be on a play-to-win streak, they are being forced into shootouts that could be avoided if the other side also took a more immersive approach. Based on how small the playerbase is right now, I'll guarantee that you'll have a more enjoyable experience with PD / SD if those guns are shot less and you get arrested once in a while.2 points

Amen to that! The whole point of RP is to have fun while creating a dynamic narrative experience for you and others around. Some people makes winning like it's the only thing that matters which is a pity considering we're here to just have fun. Winning in a RP game doesn't mean you're winning IRL...1 point

"Lspd camps south LS" **Proceeds doing shootouts non-stop** Not in LSPD nor a street gang but look at the facts, street gangs are literally bringing the lspd turf camp to themselves1 point

No offense but if typing a small paragraph for a ticket makes you not respond you might want to re-evaluate your faction choice. As stated above no one is talking about writing a freaking essay but just a paragraph to briefly describe the situation. If you're that lazy then maybe a heavy roleplay server isn't your place especially in a legal faction. Point number 2 is only a minority of players will go through the process. Just like real life if you know you're in the wrong you won't contest it. At the end of the day we're talking about more or less writing 1 paragraph to describe what happened...1 point

You already have to write arrest records when you jail someone. What if this same "Narrative" box in-game was required to issue a citation, and those notes followed the citation no matter what? The purpose of doing such a "record" would be so that you don't have to show up to the court hearing, but the issued party also gets a chance to appeal it. In fact, you would be more likely to be summoned to court if no such record exists. It's not just a matter of you not showing up - that would mean the ticket gets dismissed by default. A citation record can be something as simple as: With such a narrative, we are bound by both server rules and the Penal Code to give "full weight" to officer testimony. If the system was completely in-game and streamlined, would it be less of an issue for you to participate?1 point

Nobody is asking for an essay. Those you ticket, just like the ones you arrest, have a right to dispute the charges placed against them. If your char refuses to show up to court time and time again, that's your problem, not the courts or the players you ticket. It's not an essay, it's a brief explanation and any evidence you have to give your case.1 point

With what little time I have to play for a hour a or two on a day off, I don't want to spend those hours RPing traffic court or filling out forms for nothing. I come on to patrol and log. This is more for people who make this server their life. This idea will only last a week until you get flooded with cases because Tom units are issuing tickets left and right. Focus on something better. If I get a forum notification about having to write a whole essay about why I stopped a mallrat and issued a ticket. I ain't responding. Throw it out lol.1 point

Yeah, I figured that would be the main problem with In game court. But maybe have someone represent the officer on their behalf? We're talking traffic infractions anyways, dashcam footage present in most cases? I don't have a definitive solution for you. I shall think about it during this week.1 point

I think the best type of roleplay personally is RP based on light humour, comedy and not taking things too seriously, where both participants or all parties gain an experience from it, a good experience. A lot of RP has a focus transacationally usually with one party taking a loss and another taking a win and there is way too much emphasis on that. Organic genuine RP that both parties walk away having gained a pleasurable and rememberable experience with a bunch of laughter thrown in to the mix.1 point

You're more than likely talking about a mutual aid pursuit between PD and SD. Most, if not all supervisors in PD know having 19 cruisers in a pursuit line is not how that's meant to be done (pursuit lines are called code four, etc). There's plenty of crime and with Davis and Jamestown being a hot spot, it's only natural for there to be a high police presence. We've taken measures to lighten up and ensure the playing field is both fair for criminals and police officers in terms of camping. The high presence is there because of the ridiculous amount of shootings that go on and that's how it goes w/ neighborhoods IRL.1 point
