Much like some of our faces still around I'm from the first generation of lsrp, y'all have it too easy, back then we had nothing, but we loved it, because it's a roleplay server and that's what we were expected to do, use our imagination and roleplay. Unfortunately the community only thrives with creators, a lot of you have lost your imagination and creativity, find it. Not disregarding anything else in this thread And kudos to those that do create, because you're an asset to the server.7 points

This is the realest shit I’ve read from an admin. This is exactly what’s wrong, and I don’t think it’s anything to do with the losing the ability to create RP. Personally, I think the new generation never HAD the ability to create such things. I think people have been spoilt with new generation stuff, Ragemp and the millions of features. All the little things that mean fuck all in RP but actually takeaway from the imagination. The already scripted actions when you do a certain command. There’s a feature on GTA world that when you take a drug, you get bombarded with 4 lines of how you’d feel etc. I remember back in the day having to research that shit, I had no clue what certain drugs made you feel. We had to make our own shit up and go from there. I don’t just mean that specific scenario. There’s too many scripts and people expect it from an old generation game, it’s crazy. RP is out of the window. Too many people care about customisation, how their character looks, like it’s fucking sims. They care too much about taking a loss, they don’t care much about development and growth. They want to spawn in somebody that they’ve seen on TV and not have the story behind them to get there. Nobody builds their own story anymore. And screens, what the fuck is all this about screens having to be absolutely perfect? So long as you can showcase it, who the fuck cares really?! The problem we have today is: Original players feel they’re owed this top OG status, because they’ve done their time in LS-RP. New players (SOME, don’t fucking cry) don't have a fucking clue about roleplay and what it takes. It’s meant to be a long road, not just something you can achieve over night. Momentarily, I’d put LSRP under the same category as NGRP when that was in its prime. That is diabolical. This is mainly down to the admin team unfortunately, they’re allowing too much and doing too little. It feels there is no stability, and people are sick to fuck of DM and watching people get away with it. Mass DM should be an instant ban. Poor portrayal should be admin jail. There should be major punishment for those that do not adhere to game rules. Game rules that need changing also. Not that I want to target people, but why is brown pride even still a faction? I’ve never seen such a shit show in one faction in all of my life. I’ll probs get bombarded with “you cant say that, you’re breaking rules, that’s offensive”. Personally, I don’t care, I think it’s what the world needs. Someone to say it exactly how it is. I don’t have a problem with them personally, but every single encounter has been very very questionable. Moving on, because that one topic could last weeks… There is no “vision for the future” if the staff cannot even open their eyes. Especially leading staff, such as Mmartin. If you want a community, and to carry on earning $$$? Start listening to YOUR community and make a change to the majority. Then there will be a future and not 84 players at peak time. When LSRP relaunched, it hit numbers and could still hit numbers. You need to get back to basics, turn LSRP back into a hardcore roleplay server and start listening to those who actually care. Stop thinking quantity, but quality. Then there will be server might actually start rebuilding again. It will only decline if it carries on going the way it is, now is the time to make a change.4 points

It's funny you mention Brown Pride because we had a few of their members trying our trailers every single day to check our /cmdspot for weapons during the early hours when none (or barely any) of us were IG. They've reportedly been back a few times since being killed, which only happened in the first place because I'd rather take things IC and avoid the spastic process of reporting. That is the extent of their capabilities of a faction and in terms of roleplay. I wouldn't worry about the backlash of commenting on factions because really, and I'm not trying to shit talk but rather be honest, half if not more are seriously lacking and could be classed as low budget comedy acts at best; unfortunately, we can't refund our time spent viewing like we could on money spent on tickets, though.3 points

I happen to be one of those people who roleplay lawyers, yeah. The thing about that is, procedures like court hearings take a shitload amount of work in the background rather than just showing up and winging it. Now, in a game, not everyone has the time to do all that and show up in an in-game courtroom at a certain time, especially when our timezones aren't exactly all the same. Again, don't get me wrong. There's nothing I'd love more than being able to do that, but it's virtually impossible for this to be executed in the server at this point in time. And while I agree with you about opening more avenues of roleplay script-wise, it also isn't the most productive idea to have people grinding scriptwise jobs like they're doing now. The difference between, say, being a pizza delivery guy and a drug dealer is that a drug dealer has a buyer to roleplay with. Pizza orders don't really happen, unless a pizza business opens and starts offering it. Otherwise, you just have a guy in a Faggio driving around 24/7, not really interacting with anyone and anything. Driving around in a bus is a better alternative than DMing in Idlestacks, sure. Definitely. But drive around long enough without anyone really needing the service you're offering, and it'll get stale pretty easily. See, this is why I appreciate companies like ROZE Enterprises and LSCG so much. These companies keep newcomers hooked in the server, giving them roleplay opportunities until they become more familiar with the city and start to branch out in their own preferred environments. What we need to do is to equip people to create more of these companies, especially those with ingenious ideas, and build from there. Devs like Cake are already on full throttle working out new features, and what we could help them out with is to point the focus on the most impactful ones first.2 points

The flow of the game is what you get up to at the current moment. No one stops you from RPing a gangster and still involving yourself in day-to-day behaviors like running to the store or walking your dog made out of /clothing accessories. The server has all the legal infrastructure you could currently ask for, it's not an issue with the script or the direction of the community; legal roleplay just isn't very expansive unless it ties into illegal roleplay somehow. (In the form of legal fronts or "Succession"esque businessmen running around, which we have no shortage of at the moment.) Considering the medium we're using to play it should never be the main focus or even receive equal focus as the illegal roleplay scene. It only encourages the existence of civvie ((rpers)) that get caught up roleplaying this perfect version of their irl selves, interacting with friends they wish they had IRL, driving cars they wish they had IRL, engaging in virtual leisure as a means of escapism rather than storytelling. The moment you antagonize one of those people in-characterly on a criminal character (or somehow get siphoned into their weird dollhouse roleplay drama) they either whine their ass off or put you through excruciating play-2-win RP scenarios because they cannot mentally afford to have their illusion broken. It sounds fun if you look at the valentines and think about an episode of the kardashians, but when this behavior is enabled to the degree you seem to want it to be, and a majority of the server consists of rich players hanging around all day treating it as a glorified chatroom, it becomes a problem. TL;DR - The legal roleplayers able to roleplay businessmen, company owners, regular joes, ETC. are already doing it and have all the resources available at the palm of their hand. Feeding the legal roleplay "scene" with a baby bottle isn't gonna help them at all, just encourage more idiots to whip their cheetahs around Idlewood looking for reasons to up a PF gun at someone over the silliest conflict.2 points

The last major thing to happen around factions was the closure of Nakahara-Kai and that wasn't even an effort by IFT/FTC, it was a result of them being told they were under review and a shit faction, which led to 1x1/Ligzonton/Musashi throwing a hissy fit, followed by Joey's 'woe is me' post blaming the same people that had given them second (and third) chances despite constant outcry from the majority of the team. Schemes and FTP have recently been given new heads, which overall means little to nothing and has no effect on the server. Some admins are still showing that they're incapable of simple reading comprehension, a skill that is taught from the age of 6, given that they still cannot follow rules and limits set out by myself and still enforced by Klag. Inactive official factions are being reviewed, but what will come from it? It's yet to be seen at the end of this month, but I will outright give credit to @Flip for being the driving force at the minute, despite countless roadblocks and speed bumps that are put in the way. Filthy Bastards Motorcycle Club is still showing poor activity (and roleplay), having only revived their activity briefly after being provoked in-character; once this subsided they were once again nowhere to be seen, save for 2 or 3 members who's content and standards are questionable at the very least. We've got Blanco Longorio, the pushers of the party drug - fentanyl (yes, that's something that was said). Poor numbers and very seriously lacking in providing roleplay other than the bare minimum that we'd expect. What seemed like a pioneering faction in the beginning has only proven to be a facade. Perhaps it was only due to Faugh A Ballagh that they were ever thriving at all. The Galleani Crime Family continues to show us how not to do LCN roleplay correctly and does so with the same 3-4 faces, with the only consistent roleplayer being @HOOD POPE / Donald Sacco. Mob Piru also fails to hit standards that we should expect from a numbers standpoint. The roleplay that we've seen in the past has been stellar, but the activity struggles have been going on for far too long. The argument that street gangs are tough to maintain in the current climate can easily be negated when we look at the activity comparison with BMF and EHC. Meanwhile, FTC cannot even get together to have a meeting to make things that have already been decided on happen - if the majority has agreed on something then a voice call should not be needed, especially when there is a clear incapability to make a voice call (a follow up at best) happen. And this block of text only touches on half of the issues around illegal factions.1 point

Actually, they kind of do. For example, nobody's stopping anybody from roleplaying a lawyer. Tungsten's even accepting people right now without having to take the bar for a limited amount of time. There's just not enough collective interest to build a system around it; not enough people to keep it sustainable. Aside from that, all the other jobs you mentioned can be roleplayed by people who're interested in doing it. There's nothing stopping them from doing so. The only issue is that nobody wants to do it. Bus drivers, that's definitely a nice idea. But for whom? Nobody goes on a regular commute, with set times and fixed routes. People play tentatively with whatever free time they could muster. Other than that, who's looking forward to driving around wordlessly for hours on end in a city where everyone has access to a personal vehicle? My point is, what we should be discussing here is how to enable people who want to make the most out of their roleplay, and not suggesting dead-end jobs nobody even wants to do in the first place. Don't get me wrong, it'd be great if we can have these things. But on a server with a dwindling playerbase, there are bigger fish to fry.1 point

The Barons Motorcycle Club focuses on creating a realistic motorcycle club ecosystem, one that can vividly depict the outlaw lifestyle. We encourage new-comers to join us through one of the many available avenues of interaction. We want to develop a faction that acts as an umbrella for different characters and concepts. The more diverse the characters are, the better. We want to create a community rather than a singular faction. Once you are offered a prospective membership IG and/or post screenshots on this thread, you are therefore agreeing to granting your CK permissions to the leadership of the faction. Any questions regarding the faction can be directed to cheeky or Klag.1 point

Nothing ever happens. Like many other communities, LS-RP's been like that for a while now. To quote DamianC, the focus has shifted from roleplaying to obtaining absolute power and maintaining the status quo many moons ago. Look no further than this topic: the only staff replies are to either defend themselves or to intimate people to behave — not a single one offers a constructive suggestion on how to move forward or outlines a roadmap for the weeks to come. And, again, like many other communities, this kind of thinking rolls down hill: why should people stay, let alone move over here from other servers, when those in charge seemingly don't care about it themselves? This thread also makes it very clear that, again just like many other communities, LS-RP players these days are more concerned with the "quality" of roleplay others are providing than their own, with that mentality having been actively nurtured through the years by an outdated faction reward system, systematic staff corruption that promoted flattery and connivance over actually administrating and a server-wide culture that recognizes tearing your opponents down as opposed to rising up yourself. Some people in the comments above have blamed a competitor community for this try-hard mentality, but it was on LS-RP that it was born and cultivated. The very basis of roleplay, establish an in-character culture based on in-game events, became not just frowned upon, but outright forbidden at some point. Whenever someone strayed away from the path they set, a new set of overly-complicated rules or a new team would be set up to oversee every aspect of the server and make sure that no one would escape the grasp of the so-called "realism", a realism that wasn't like Valenti's, where carefully crafted characters interact with each other in a believable way to build complex, long-lasting stories in the setting and lore they themselves created, but a mere copy-pasting of real-life concepts barely adjusted to fit the game and mechanically fed to faction members through continuous hammering of slogans and reminders on their Discord servers. And so roleplay became less about creativity and more about absolute power, until the enforcement of absolute power was all that was left. This isn't something that happened in a week, or a month. It took a decade for this mentality to develop, take root and spread like it has right now: there's a whole generation of roleplayers who grew up on that standard and for whom overly-regulated roleplay that isn't aimed at building a cohesive narrative, supervised by people who advance through the staff not because their administration skills but only because they outlasted everyone else, is not only natural, it's all they've ever known. It's very short-sighted to believe that just changing a couple parameters will bring back LS-RP as it once was, especially when none of those that could have intervened did, letting the server transition from a blank canvas where every player could draw to their heart's content as long as they abided by the most basic of rules to a dystopia where using the wrong term on a law enforcement in-character radio could get you a dress-down on TeamSpeak by a supervisor. Suggestions were made, appeals written, indications given — multiple times. It was all preaching in the desert, and although that's perhaps the highest of callings, the results are laid out for everyone to see. The server clearly still has a lot of potential, even without reaching the once in a lifetime numbers it once did (at what cost?), but that potential cannot be unlocked unless the powers that be come to the realization that their server, their community needs them to take the lead and provide guidance. But they've proven time and again to have little, if any, interest in doing so. So what are you expecting? For @Michael to undo the damage that's been done in almost ten years overnight? @Mmartin's redemption arc?1 point

I don't think we need to take lessons from somebody who was apart of The Vesci Crime Family, the self-acclaimed messiahs of LCN roleplay who made emotes such as: • /me attends a sit down between the wops and bikers. • /me is the boss of the Vesci Crime Family. • /me stuffs a dollar bill in Female_Name's asshole. I wouldn't even bother entertaining it. The only reason the focus is being shifted onto Bellomo is because of the two faction reports that were made against them, one of which they received a strike for. If they had not gone on a massive DM spree they were going to be closed the very same night following a third strike. I am the furthest thing from a fan of Bellomo, which Curly and Sarno can attest to themselves, but The Vesci Crime Family was some of the worst drivel I've witnessed plague the faction forum in over a decade. Led by a Bellantonio reject who recently got his panties in a twist over a CK that took place over 6 years ago, it really is no surprise that they failed. Bore off.1 point
