LS-RP January Community Update - 1.8.0 Major Feature Deployment
Stinkywinky commented on Dos Santos's blog entry in Announcements
First! - was first on my screen - SCAMMED -
I would personally like to see some love go into civilian and illegal. We have a drug scheme that is inactive due to no effects of the drugs. I would personally like to see an in-game tutorial. This was a main feature in LSRP and was very useful leaving new players not feeling helpless or overwhelmed. A tutorial would be useful. More civilian jobs. /startshift to be revised - company owners are putting in the effort for 0 return? A script to support business for example selling coffee and tea, we don't have a script for these but with new rules and implementation from the company team, company leaders are expected to sell something that is not physically there scripts-wise. The implementation/removal of funds/support from admins is to only be adjusted when developers have implemented if the script supports them. Not to implement and remove things before we have a script - this is demotivating. I feel sometimes we take 1 step forward and 2 steps back. instead of sitting back and thinking. Premium to be revised - Make it so it is worth buying. Give some features/rewards for the premium. They are sat there with no meaning or reward - it is not worth buying. @Dos Santos

A job centre, explaining what jobs are available 🙂
-
With this, I find an ingame tutorial should be implemented to help new players out too. With the final part of the tutorial based around the destination where admins or players choose to have a hub

Dos Santos can you elaborate on this please. What sort of businesses? What sort of players will this attract? Overall what sort of ideas do you have? Do I feel this could be a great start but I was wondering what were you thinking. Simply just put the ad centre there with clothing shops 🙂 All customizations shops there and so on. All under one roof. That will turn it into the Mall.

Nice! Keep up the work 🙂

Well, I've managed to get on the server in less than a minute. Good job guys 🙂

So in one breathe it isn't metagaming but in the next, you're saying it is metagaming for the person reading the /me? Personally, I'm with Scandal and Frye on this. I don't get how /me does not realize his mistake, is classed as a /me, it is not an action. You could have easily avoided this but saying in character " Sorry I didn't realize the mistake I made ". As for you using it on screenshots, I have no problem with this as you would be telling a story for your community page but for ig purposes, it's unacceptable in my eyes. Moving to your /do John smells like cheese. It would depend on the context of what you would be roleplaying. AND AGAIN! I move back to the topic, as roleplay evolved into these types of /me and /do's? OR is this wrong of people to roleplay this kind of way?
-
I mean from your point of view fine. But I'm in the public roaming around, never even encounter this guy. Then random pulls up /me thinks he has a headache. If you are roleplay solo with another person and they are happy with that fine, it both to your preferences. In public though, I feel that people have lost the capability to role play. It like the realistic factor has gone and some people have been spoilt and other roleplayers that do it right are taking the short fall!
-
Have you been experiencing this sort of roleplay too?
-
Now I've been roleplaying with LSRP community since 2007, I'm not sure where this has changed but I've seen an increasing amount of RP that doesn't meet the criteria of /me. For example The other day I experienced - /me thinks he has a headache. Now for me, that is a misuse of /me. The way I was brought into LSRP was /me is an action and /do Is used to explain something that is in front of you or your appearance. Here are a few examples : /me reaches down to tie his shoelace as he peers up to Michael Hill. /do Francis would be wearing a pair of Clarkes shoes that are pristine black leather. Now I understand the world evolves and roleplay evolves but I think /me's and /do's are constantly being misused. I'm not here to slate other people roleplay but it would be nice to clear up what people think /me and do's should be used for.

Over the last 3 weeks, we had a lot of server downtime. For me personally, this is putting me off the server. I understand there are some issues now and then but this time was planned maintenance. We do receive updates from leadership but these are 2 to 3 hours later which I do find frustrating. For me, the amount of downtime recently is off-putting and leaving me feeling that it is not worth my time now. What are other people's thoughts?

Ok, so the last recruitment date was 09/08/2023, new recruitment date is 01/09/2023. So the facts you provide are not right either. The simple fact is, too many cops. Not enough civ jobs for people to earn a living in the game resulting in the server being filled with cops. I don't wish to argue with you, but trying to destroy a point I was making is a bit pathetic. Okay, it isn't once a week but it does feel like it when LSPD is not recruiting like LSSD, Maybe what they should do is what LSSD did back in 2008, LSSD patrol the county only, this would reduce the intake of LSSD members.

@MmartinPersonally, I think faction management needs to tone up too. We have directors, Captains, and other high-ranking members sitting there like door mats. I understand the player base is low, but faction leaders and high-ranking members should be preparing for the future. Instead, from a personal point of view we have an inactive leadership that is, not pushing for members and is not doing a thing but remaining in their position when other members have the ambition and want to thrive and push that department forward but are being held back by their inactivity. Another thing for me SASD is recruiting too many cops. We had 55 members on during a peak session and 24 were cops and 22 of them were SASD, and this was during the graduation as there wasn't one due to DDOS. Recruitment for cops needs to be monitored. SASD is more or less permanently open. I find PD recruitment is fine, once a month or once every 6 weeks but SASD once every week, is ridiculous. This is speaking from a legal faction employee point of view.

Minor Update 1.3.6 — Weapon changes and the gun economy
Stinkywinky commented on ImperiumXVII's blog entry in Announcements
- Added vehicle registration history to the MDC With this have the license plates for private plates been fixed? That private vanity can't be identified/found on the system. Meaning they can't get fined? Or is this another thing that was update? Might be me being dumb 😄
