  1. The civilian / legal roleplaying scene is so overlooked, and it's infuriating. Though this crowd is not as noisy and expressive on the forums, it's equally important (if not more than) as its illegal counterpart. The illegal roleplaying sphere is much more volatile, because if few players leave within a faction, its highly likely that others will follow suit very quickly. I find that this generally doesn't tend to happen with civilian roleplayers, as they're not bound by a faction to provide roleplay from, but rather can enjoy the server on their own. Therefore I think the management needs to start giving some more thought into improving the civilian roleplaying sphere as its much more easier to appease and contain. I'll list some of the problems I've noticed, and hopefully shedding light onto these issues can generate some discussion around this overlooked part of the server. Problem: The originality is lost when it comes to businesses. It seems that every faction or business owner exclusively runs a club or a bar, rather than thinking of something creative. This has made business roleplay so repetitive that it's not fun for either the business owner, or the go-ers. If you look past the facade of the fleet of company vehicles outside a business opening, you'd realize that 80% of the people inside each business opening are actually the business staff, rather than actual go-ers. Solutions: There are so many unique businesses still on the server. Why not auction them if they're not being actively used? For example, Waterpark, Aquapark, Los Santos Forum, Visage. Introduce ready-made unique businesses on auction, rather than putting clubs / bars on auctions. This means putting already furnished businesses on auctions. For example, there should be clothing stores, go-karting arenas, motocross arenas, theatres, comedy clubs, gyms, mechanic garages, museums, art galleries, betting shops, office spaces, ice-cream shop, paintball arena, gun ranges, country clubs, music studios, escape rooms, news agencies etc. Problem: It's almost impossible to purchase a business at the moment from another player. Solution: The solution is quite simple to this one. Just auction off more inactive businesses. Though I have no evidence for this, but I believe almost half of the businesses on the server are owned by inactive players. Why not auction them? What harm does it do? There are so many inactive businesses with insanely beautiful interiors and concepts that I wish would be auctioned. For example, Narc's 24/7 with a safehouse is a business I'm sure any faction would love to roleplay at, but it's collecting dust near the mall. Problem: There is very little entertainment for a new player after the initial grinding phase ends. I find that players who don't want to roleplay an illegal character, generally start slowly drifting away from the server just because of the sheer lack of options they have at hand. Other than trucking, working as a taxi driver, working as a staff, or going to clubs / bars, what else is there to do? Solutions: The events team can host mini events every now and then. For example, marathons, scavenger hunts, basketball games, BMX stunts event at the skatepark or BMX races at Flint County, car meetups, live car auctions, rally races, city bus tour rides around all three cities, magic shows etc. I loved the halloween event at Bone County, and I think we need more events like that in the future too. Though the developers have made HUGE improvements, the introduced updates are mostly support features that help elevate existing features, rather than being new features on their own. Although I'm not imaginative enough to think of anything new that can be added at the moment, I'm sure introducing new jobs and scripts that are not just geared for newer players (like farming, trucking, taxi) but also for seasoned players will be a huge help.

  2. Nothing ever happens. Like many other communities, LS-RP's been like that for a while now. To quote DamianC, the focus has shifted from roleplaying to obtaining absolute power and maintaining the status quo many moons ago. Look no further than this topic: the only staff replies are to either defend themselves or to intimate people to behave β€” not a single one offers a constructive suggestion on how to move forward or outlines a roadmap for the weeks to come. And, again, like many other communities, this kind of thinking rolls down hill: why should people stay, let alone move over here from other servers, when those in charge seemingly don't care about it themselves? This thread also makes it very clear that, again just like many other communities, LS-RP players these days are more concerned with the "quality" of roleplay others are providing than their own, with that mentality having been actively nurtured through the years by an outdated faction reward system, systematic staff corruption that promoted flattery and connivance over actually administrating and a server-wide culture that recognizes tearing your opponents down as opposed to rising up yourself. Some people in the comments above have blamed a competitor community for this try-hard mentality, but it was on LS-RP that it was born and cultivated. The very basis of roleplay, establish an in-character culture based on in-game events, became not just frowned upon, but outright forbidden at some point. Whenever someone strayed away from the path they set, a new set of overly-complicated rules or a new team would be set up to oversee every aspect of the server and make sure that no one would escape the grasp of the so-called "realism", a realism that wasn't like Valenti's, where carefully crafted characters interact with each other in a believable way to build complex, long-lasting stories in the setting and lore they themselves created, but a mere copy-pasting of real-life concepts barely adjusted to fit the game and mechanically fed to faction members through continuous hammering of slogans and reminders on their Discord servers. And so roleplay became less about creativity and more about absolute power, until the enforcement of absolute power was all that was left. This isn't something that happened in a week, or a month. It took a decade for this mentality to develop, take root and spread like it has right now: there's a whole generation of roleplayers who grew up on that standard and for whom overly-regulated roleplay that isn't aimed at building a cohesive narrative, supervised by people who advance through the staff not because their administration skills but only because they outlasted everyone else, is not only natural, it's all they've ever known. It's very short-sighted to believe that just changing a couple parameters will bring back LS-RP as it once was, especially when none of those that could have intervened did, letting the server transition from a blank canvas where every player could draw to their heart's content as long as they abided by the most basic of rules to a dystopia where using the wrong term on a law enforcement in-character radio could get you a dress-down on TeamSpeak by a supervisor. Suggestions were made, appeals written, indications given β€” multiple times. It was all preaching in the desert, and although that's perhaps the highest of callings, the results are laid out for everyone to see. The server clearly still has a lot of potential, even without reaching the once in a lifetime numbers it once did (at what cost?), but that potential cannot be unlocked unless the powers that be come to the realization that their server, their community needs them to take the lead and provide guidance. But they've proven time and again to have little, if any, interest in doing so. So what are you expecting? For @Michael to undo the damage that's been done in almost ten years overnight? @Mmartin's redemption arc?

  4. In all my years of advocating for a more realistic environment, Im surprised and happy to see this amount of people wanting to abandon the "this is a game" mentality and get with the "this is a game, based on realism and creativity" mindset. LSRP used to be, sometimes still is, and absolutely can be a canvas for realistic roleplay. A lot of good ideas have been posted here. I know this is vague but I envision a few of these changes: 1. A realistic meeting system for players. Everyone starts as a stranger. To eliminate targetted trolling, targetted metagaming and targetted DM, which in my opinion should be a banning offense. Should create less work for staff and more roleplay for players. 2. Eliminating Long Term Wars and PK wars, and if thats not doable, at least eliminate the incitement to metagame by forwarding lists to each other. 3. Introducing an in game court system complete with bails, bonds, judges and lawyers. An in game system, not a forum system. 4. Introduce the concept of CKs only FOR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES ONLY, such as shooting it out with police, engaging in gang/mob wars. In situations where PKs are issued for poor reason to kill, instead of banning people and deteriorating the playerbase, void the roleplay and issue ajails or multiday bans as punishment. But in a case where someone was killed for a poor reason but no rules were broken, PKs can stay. Poor reasons to kill have not yet been established and we cant just expect even new or old players to "know" based on any admins discretion what would be considered a poor reason. Of course, killing someone over an insult or looking at you funny is a poor reason. But how can new players who witness tomfoolery all over this server be expected to know that? Theres a cultural barrier here between older and newer roleplayers that can be fixed with some assertions and clarifications. 5. Put advertisements through a vetting window that must be approved by online staff. A simple click when they see a good ad, a simple click when they deny a poor one. 6. Clean house over at Idlezoo Pizza. While its been a major part of LSRP lore, its been a stain on this server for too long and a breeding ground for unrealistic RP. If admins just camped Idlestacks Pizza for a good month, people might stop screwing around.

  9. The Barons Motorcycle Club focuses on creating a realistic motorcycle club ecosystem, one that can vividly depict the outlaw lifestyle. We encourage new-comers to join us through one of the many available avenues of interaction. We want to develop a faction that acts as an umbrella for different characters and concepts. The more diverse the characters are, the better. We want to create a community rather than a singular faction. Once you are offered a prospective membership IG and/or post screenshots on this thread, you are therefore agreeing to granting your CK permissions to the leadership of the faction. Any questions regarding the faction can be directed to cheeky or Klag.

  10. I think playing here would need to feel more like a real life experience - the flow of the game should have me doing regular human stuff not gang stuff 24/7. I've read only two posts on this thread but let me add some to this. What would help the experience would be some legal infrastructure. What we have right now is just pure criminal stuff and criminal storytelling? I might be wrong because I don't have time to go through all the screenshots or interact with everyone 24/7 on the server πŸ™‚ I on know. I've enjoyed the GTA V server because you can just chill? GTA V server feels more like a real life experience - something SA-MP server is missing? Not sure. I've been playing LSRP for a minute although I'm not sure how can I start making moves. Discord is way better than private forums but now there's nothing to do if you're not in a faction - I can't imagine being a new roleplayer right now. Also... I enjoy roleplaying at all times (not scripted roleplay for screenshots) so standing in one spot should make sense for everybody. I'm not sure though - could be my incompetence.
