Her mother owned a bar called "The Iron Steed," which eventually turned into a 'biker bar' due to its clientele, primarily members of motorcycle clubs such as 'Straight Satans MC,' 'Satan Slaves MC,' and 'El Forasteros MC.' Joy lived on the second floor of the bar, which also served as their apartment. He left the San Fernando Valley without notice and moved to San Andreas two years after Joy was born, cutting off all contact with both her and Amy. As a result of her upbringing, Joy developed a 'tough' persona to impress the bar's patrons, distancing herself from her more feminine side. She often acted rude, neglected her appearance, and embodied a tomboyish vibe. When Amy was on her deathbed, she gave Joy a note she had received from Edward, which read: "[BLUEBERRY - HANGMAN]."
