Karty
Los Santos County Sheriff's Department Transparency Thread _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hello all, this thread serves as a point of contact between the community and the LSSD leadership. Here we will answer questions and concerns you may have in a neutral environment. We will also post changes made within the faction to maintain transparency. Generally, questions will be answered by Executive Staff. If a question pertains to a particular division that only the Unit Commander could truly answer then they are free to do so as well. We ask that you follow a few simple rules when interacting on this thread to keep it civil and clutter free. Refrain from posting here only with the intention to start discourse or spread rumors regarding the faction. If your concern stems from an isolated incident in game rather than a top down faction issue then please contact us privately via. PMs. In Character concerns are obviously prohibited. Please go through the proper channels. Faction members with concerns or suggestions are encouraged to utilize the appropriate section on the faction forums as this thread is intended for the outside community. We're excited to share our progress here and understand there may be questions as well. Karty
I will take the first post slot to explain our intention with the new leadership and the values we go by. To many of you, we will be new faces. We understand we still have to prove ourselves and earn the respect of the community. There's likely nothing I can say to make you give us that respect, but our actions will, in the end, speak louder than our words. When we make mistakes, they will be acknowledged, not pushed under the rug. As for our core values and plans for the faction, we really go by one main thing. We want all the roleplay provided by the faction to be inclusive and enjoyable roleplay for everyone involved. This comes without the focus of playing to win. We believe that a lot of times in roleplay, it's cops vs. robbers, both in and out of the game. Each side usually does things to aid it and it only. Our roleplay quality is intended to be that, so when criminals interact with our members, it's an enjoyable experience and not a chore. This will take time, and we would greatly appreciate your patience with us. We also aim for realism. Going 1:1 with the LASD is impossible and probably wouldn't be enjoyable. However, with their publicly available policies, we can model the faction around realistic California policing. Obviously, we take liberties where required. Thus far, we have made several changes, many small and relatively insignificant for the average player. These include changing callsigns to make things more realistic, condensing ranks to help avoid a top-heavy faction, updating our master roster, and changing our shotgun policy to remove an unnecessary certification. We've been looking over our internal policies and introducing areas where we may need to change things. We will also be releasing an updated directive to provide realistic usage of motorcycles within the faction. Our future plans include the continued review of policy, opening our hiring, and reviewing our activity requirements. Soon, we will be allowing external transfers from other communities to avoid people turning away due to having to go through a similar recruitment and training process. Some may have noticed that our in-game activity has already risen, and we hope to see this continue. If you were previously in SD and left for whatever reason it may be, we would love to have you back. 1
Aberdeen
Well this is certainly refreshing. I applaud you all for taking it upon yourselves to get the SD back on track. It's always been my favourite of our LEAs and the one most welcoming of experimentation in how it operates and interacts with the rest of the server. Good luck to you all. What exactly caused the shake-up besides the drop in activity?

It's always been my favourite of our LEAs and the one most welcoming of experimentation in how it operates and interacts with the rest of the server. Good luck to you all. What exactly caused the shake-up besides the drop in activity? I'll tackle this one. There has been a mixture of many things that caused this thing to happen. The mixture of both inconsistencies showcased from the leadership along with activity. It is just as important to have an active ES along with CS. Over the course of three months, LSSD has had over four different internal leaders from the community who tried changing the faction for the better. However, there was no backbone showcased by them, which left a sour taste from the faction members along with the leadership of the server. The trust factor was completely gone, and no one showcased the proper leadership skills to take over a faction and implement strong knowledgeable skills to get everything back on track. With this group of people, I have worked with for many years and hold a strong opinion that they'll do a fantastic job. Let me make it clear, they are already doing a far better job than previous leaders for the faction and have been proactive internally. There have been a lot of changes made and everyone overall is satisfied. One other thing is that they're happy to take feedback when its needed but still make the best decisions from their judgement. All in all, the leadership side lacking and activity were the main factors. However, recently, there was some members within the faction who abused certain commands during an important turn of events on the server. This led to things getting out of hand and obviously it goes to the points of a proper structure not being put in place to oversee them. All in all, things are far better and in the coming weeks it'll be even better. 1 1 Quote Blanco—Longoria DTO Los Santos County Sheriff's Department The Hong Kong Connection

Karty
Our first major policy change was posted this evening which changes how pursuits are handled. Faction members will now be expected to utilize surveillance mode when possible. In addition, alternatives to pursuits are encouraged such as filing for an arrest warrant. We will also no longer be allowing the pursuit of motorcycles as it's dangerous and typically encourages unrealistic driving habits. We're prioritizing the use of Aero Bureau to follow suspects until a safe takedown can be achieved. On another note, we've been showing some great activity trends recently and hope to keep it going. Cursed_King
This change in SD leadership was needed, for the past couple of months everyone noticed a great drop in standards, and some members abusing their power to ruin other players mainly illegal RPers experiences. This post is very appreciated, and it will open doors for discussions that will shape the future interactions between LSSD and civilians/Illegal RPers. Best of luck. 1 Quote Yuri "Sasha" Mikhailov 𝔗𝔥𝔢 ℜ𝔲𝔰𝔰𝔦𝔞𝔫 𝔖𝔱𝔢𝔢𝔩 𝔏𝔞𝔰 ℭ𝔬𝔩𝔦𝔫𝔞𝔰 𝔙𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔢𝔶 The Hong Kong Connection
unlawfulact
What's LSSD's plan for reviving Major Crimes? The server is overflowing with OCG's, most of which are enthusiasts about roleplaying with law enforcement and investigative roleplay. But for months it has struggled with numbers, are there any plans in place to revive this or will we unfortunately, never see the day of Detectives vs Mobs again? MCB is going to be a relatively small unit focused on slow and methodical investigations. They've already begun investigations. We will always be limited by the number of detectives we have as we want MCB to be the elite of the elite with in depth roleplay and as a result they won't be able to stretch themselves too thin. A large part of major crime roleplay is the two factions working together which we hope won't be a limiting factor but it could be. This is lead by @Scumpy and you can contact him with specific questions regarding it.

Karty
Two of our ES members resigned today and the changes have been reflected in the main post. Myself and the rest of the ES team would like to thank them for their contributions although their time was short. As a result of the resignations we'll be combining the Assistant Sheriff billet (one covering countywide and one covering administrative ops) into one (which was the original plan before we gained an additional person). The Chief of Staff will remain unfilled pending discussion regarding the future of it. We are still in a comfortable position with a dedicated team. Our next order of business remains opening recruitment. Edited May 3 by Karty
Karty
We've opened external transfers for those coming from other major communities. Your experience in the LSSD/LSPD of that community must be verifiable and you must have made it beyond the probationary stage.
