  1. I respect that time and effort and thinking has gone into this idea, I really do. And it is different, of course. The thing is though that we're so far down the line with the jurisdictions and responsibilities of the PD/SD, that I do fall into the "Nice idea but not really needed right now" camp.

Things that will probably be needed are things like actual private security companies - they were always popular and I've not really come across any of those yet. Some Governments do contract security work out as well, for events and so on, so it's not outside the realms of being similar to your proposition in that way.

I think it best to take the approach of asking where there's a gap in supply for the demand of a certain type of RP, or IC service. For instance we don't have any media companies from what I've seen - so there'd be demand for that. Security, as I've said. There's no doubt more!

Respect for the time put in but yeah, I think best to consider going back to the drawing board of ideas on this occasion.

I believe the vote shows an overwhelming majority choosing for the first option, it replacing California. I'm personally not sure what Ben's reply answers when it comes to what we are roleplaying, other than that we are an island.

Without all the political talk, I'd like to just see an answer with ''we are replacing California'' or ''we are not replacing California''.

Yeah from my understanding, the confirmation is that it's an island (though I understand many people don't seem to be massively fond of that idea from reading back). The answer on replacement of California or not isn't clear yet - perhaps it's not been decided yet?

  3. Thanks for all the feedback y'all ❤️ I'll be updating this after server launch and obvs, depending on how much interest there is in this sort of RP. I do recall Mmartin mentioning that, although there won't be scripted news commands in the beginning, it's something that is planned.

So in other words, if you're planning on RPing a journo, it's best to get in there early and prove what you can do with forum/internet articles etc. Also potentially the social network on the phone (not seen much of this yet!)

    Watch this space 😉

Alright, so I'll divide my answer in two sections.

    Wild animals:

These should, if scripted in, be inserted along with not only a hunting feature but also to fulfill the emptiness or otherwise emphasize the danger of certain areas with animals such as coyotes and mountain lions. They should also be fit, depending on the animal model chosen for the npc, fit into 1 of 3 caterogies:

-Passive (Runs away from players should a certain distance limit be broken, say 30m)
-Conservative (Enters a state of alert should the distance limit of (for example) 30m be broken, and alternatively attack should it or the player(s) get closer than half of the alert's radius)
-Aggressive (As the name states, these animals should have a wider radius of detection (for example 45m) and make their presence known, alternatively enter an immediate state of aggressiveness should it or the player(s) get closer than, for example, 30-40m.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Domestic animals:

These should, if scripted in, consist of no attacking/tackling features whatsoever, and:

-If scripted in, make the animals plain NPCs whose only commands are to follow, roam, come to, sit, lay, sleep. Be they dogs, cats or anything else that could be modded in as a pet and follow these capabilities. There should also be a menu where the player can select which animal breed of their selected species can be (if such alternatives are available) and to also not only name but to give their pets a description.

-Allow a specific faction-only feature, cost-free (should these pets be made donator only), where these trained K9 units would be able to sniff weapons, drugs, stashes + the commands mentioned above. A list and a heavy moderative system would have to be put in place by the factions to know which K9 Officer could sniff guns and which could sniff drugs, to prevent abuse and unrealism, such as:

-Officer John Doe, K9 Sergeant 'Zero' - Weapons Detail
-Officer Jane Doe, K9 Sergeant 'Ophelia' - Drugs Detail

Officer John could only utilize the command which allowed his K9 to sniff an individual or area for guns, and should he utilize the drug sniffing command - for it to be prohibited/prevented (not scriptly, just through list alone) to be roleplayed as it would constitute Powergaming by the LEO half.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Personal opinion:

I agree with Natasha and the smaller group in that these pets should either be free from a pet store or through a permanent/one-time donation.

Alternatively, make said pet store and allow each character slot to have one single pet at a time - and perhaps make donations available to increase the pet slots (one-time fee of $10 per slot, up to a maximum of 4). This should in no way allow players to spawn more than one pet though.

This basically sums up my opinion too, very well-rounded answer.

  5. Pretty sure there used to be an official party line on this one, can't remember what it was though. Personally I prefer to see San Andreas as somewhere separate, but at the same time, I'd never actively talk about LA. No strong opinion on this really, whatever suits (so long as people don't start calling LS places by their LA counterpart names, for instance "Hey did you see what happened at Hollywood Bowl?")

  6. Y'ello there. My character is running Government's Cultural Affairs Office when the server launches. We'll be responsible for organising events, observing religious festivals, and supporting events that people organise (provided they fit within certain criteria). I reckon there'll be plenty of opportunities for us to have roleplay together, provided you guys are still active with this idea. I can send you some more details over PM but yeah - wishing you good luck with this one 🙂

Might hit you up on that!

    Never done this before 😄

It's easy when you get the hang of it! Definitely get Audacity - it's totally free and easy to use. Hmu on Disc if you want a tutorial or two - I've done basic edits for my guides and stuff in the past.

Not sure how you'd do "interviews" though - maybe just recorded Disc convos? dunno!

  8. I'm playing on some kind of "harder than normal" difficulty and I enjoy the challenge, but the storyline is not engaging and there are still bugs. It also annoys me that my Corpo character isn't any more unique than the others; it's like that choice in the beginning barely means a thing.

The first female mayor of LS or was it Susan Licther?

The first female Mayor was Naomi Williams in 2010 - who was also me but I killed her off shortly thereafter. Then I believe Susan Licther was... 2011? Then Allegra Nixon was 2012.

Could be totally off with these dates actually. There were a few other female Mayors - Allison Hall and Valentina Richardson for instance.

  10. I'm absolutely no expert on this, but I'm guessing that choosing between clients must have been a pretty big decision in the beginning, and not one taken lightly. Albeit I haven't actually played alt:V before. I was on FiveM for a bit but there was some to-do with the developers I believe?

Either way, I guess it is what it is now. I've seen what RageMP can do and it's ballin'.
