  1. Ahh welcome back! Another oldie. I've been here since 2008 but I don't have any life achievements to brag about besides going on several holidays. Oh, I also have a digital marketing background (but I mainly do Comms and PR stuff nowadays).

    What were your character names?

  2. Hey y'all.

We had pretty good attendance levels for our sesh earlier this eve, so it would be great to know what you all thought of the meeting itself.

Did it cover all you wanted it to? Was there anything missing (besides, obviously, a confirmed release date)? What would you like to see in future meetings?

We're open to suggestions and feedback here so yeah, fire away.

Update: Feel free to provide feedback on all community meetings on this thread tbf.

  3. I agree with Valentine here, the main reason being that GTA Online's character creation system is a little awkward and clunky, and only when you're actually walking around and seeing your character in new environments do you tend to notice little things like "oh damn, that nose is massive" or "the skin colour I chose actually makes me look like an old woman". It's not immediately obvious to see this in any default character editor.

Plus, I'm hoping that in the future we'll have the skin slider mix (this is a default option in Online I believe), as it's pretty essential to fixing the "old woman's skin" problem for females in particular.

The appearance of people's characters is pretty important to them, so little tweaks here and there to get them right should be allowed imo. Many other servers offer this in a variety of ways too, so if we have players joining us from elsewhere at any point, it's probably an 'expected feature'.

I agree that this does leave it slightly open to abuse, but perhaps we just limit the number of times we allow changes to be made, or make it quite expensive, or have it as a donation feature. I think it's important to have the option eventually (it's not going to be available at launch) but maybe we discuss how best it can be implemented.

This gives the illegal scene more to do, but takes away from the legal scene and the average player's ability to take part in gambling

It should be done in a way which can benefit both sides.

Legal casinos have a tonne of regulations that they must follow if they want to operate, as well as extremely high taxes (50% back in SAMP). This gives illegal factions the opportunity to come in and undercut casinos, as they will not need to give half of their profits to tax.

The reason illegal gambling wasn't a thing in SAMP was because gambling was not covered by the scamming rule, meaning if you were gambling illegally, you could pay someone $1M for them just to run away. The way to fix this is to add some rules that protect certain games which would stop players from being able to be scammed so easily.

With protections for players in place, illegal casinos will be able to offer gambling at lower rates that legal casinos, with protections for the players.

An issue this raises though is that players would only ever decide to go to illegal casinos if they were full of advantages over legal casinos, to mitigate this, I think a limit to the max amount of money allowed to be gambled before it's no longer protected by rules would need to be in place, or some other nerf.

The truth is this sort of thing is pretty complicated to work out if we are to try and support both the illegal and legal gambling scene, and honestly both should be supported as it isn't realistic to have neither of the two options.

I think this is the key here really - banning it outright is too far, but adding regulations and restricting it might allow for illegal gambling rackets to be more profitable/lucrative.

I know some earlier comments mentioned that gambling is illegal in California, but when you look into the specifics of it, there are so many exceptions to this rule that it's more accurate to say it's "heavily regulated" with a tonne of hoops to jump through, to be done legally (see here). It's also true that LA has a plethora of casinos

Just get Gov to oversee a stringent licensing process for gambling licenses, keep the tax high on it as per SAMP, and see what happens.

  5. Oooh another old timer, I’m surprised we’ve not come across each other (unless we have and I’ve forgot, in which case I’m sorry I’m getting old now).

    Either way, heyo 👋🏻

  6. I got bored of Dragonflight. I enjoyed the Dragon Riding aspect but at the end of the day, it was the same old game with the same old problems. FF14 is the way forward for dungeons and raids as far as I'm concerned now.

To be honest, I most rather want a Quidditch mod than multiplayer. Unless they make a change to how school classes work.

Yeah lack of Quidditch is obviously an "oh shit we didn't have time to finish that part" move, either that or they were gonna do it as DLC.

I have a mod which affects where students and teachers are during the day, closes shops at night etc, which makes it feel a bit more realistic. There's new mods coming out for it all the time, but mostly graphical ones to do with faces and presets etc.
