  1. Amen..but what if someone LIKES doing reports. Can they? 😂 If the academies are like they used to be - the exams were open book. There were documents to read prior to attending academies as well that covered a lot of info. While we in RU didnt allow tabbing back and forth or having the documents open during the academy...I personally OOC encouraged people to copy the info into a word document or something they could reference. When we switched to the multi day academies ages ago, that's why we put the documents on the forum. Our main thing IG was interacting with the recruits and doing practical things IG that we didn't want anyone claiming they weren't shown - while back then it was basic laws, arrests, driving, traffic stops, first aid...in the new one could easily be things like...first aid, detainment, how to search a cell - with leaving the field stuff as a required learning when making the transition from custody to patrol. That way they're realistically ready to help their FTO day 1 if needed. Just spitballing ideas. I loved RU back in the day, and spent a lot of time helping create the original multi day academies. Also RE: private academies. They're super easy to schedule and manage. They go quicker than groups as well. Anyone who says they're boring from an RU side shouldn't be in RU imo.

  2. One of my dearest critiques in regards to this community has been the inaccessibility of those who wish to roleplay as a law enforcement officer, but do not fulfill the requirement of owning a microphone. This issue needs to be reviewed through the prism of roleplay and not Out of Character restrictions in order to find a proper solution that does not limit people to parking enforcement or force them to patrol in partnered units. Such requirements not only defeat the purpose of a text based roleplay server, but also prohibit talented people from exercising their roleplay.

  3. Very important points. Point 1 and 2 are key issues that have been prevalent for years within this community. The issue(s) presented with the ''fix'' for those problems are that people who are right for the position are far and few between, and getting someone to handle the workload without having that management-type experience is a challenging task itself and always results in bringing people in who don't have the genre-specific experience, but the staff-specific experience alone. I think this community (and its staff) have moved in a much better direction in the last couple of years. Transparency, communication and cohesion between the community and the people who staff it has significantly improved — albeit with issues here and there. One gripe I have always had with discussions and hot topics being debated over public mediums is the premature closure of them and it was (from experience) something that was cracked down internally pre 2020. I think it's important to let these threads run their natural course and let feedback be taken as what it is, feedback. People get frustrated and throw jabs here and there, however, one person shouldn't result in the execution of many others and their potential feedback. Your last point is something I agree with, but you know as well I do that we've had several instances of people making abhorrent decisions without oversight, and this causes a faction and server-wide issue when it trickles down the grapevine. It should be competency-based and it should be case-by-case in my opinion.

  4. I personally would like to see more homeless roleplayers and more drug addicts.

  5. We've got that in mind and if we see the need we'll shift the recruitment plan from 1 line to 2 lines. But a lot is depending on how the Prison RP is going to be, as you said its a niche and not everyone wants to do it. We'll monitor how the launch goes and we'll makes those changes depending on the outcome. The prison/jail script is still in discussion/development so I can't comment on that at the moment. I want to do my best to not neglect prison/jail RP from a legal perspective as it has been in the past.
