  14. ------ In 1993, when Salvatore Riina — a figure long regarded as the dark symbol of Sicilian mafia power — was arrested in a prolonged manhunt, the entire power structure in Corleone was thrown into chaos. The families that had lived under his brutal shadow began to fracture: infighting, division, and the question of who would become the next successor. At that moment, several new figures began to rise. First were the three most prominent capos of the post-Riina era: Giuseppe Bianchi — a discreet capo who avoids overt violence, focused instead on managing the underground network and information. (Believed to oversee the territories near East Beach) Andrusha Borjn — an Eastern European capo who once controlled operations in the Balkans, known for being cold and pragmatic. (Considered the overseer of the Red County) Massimo Motisi — a Palermo-born capo raised amidst gunfire but with the mindset of a businessman. (Believed to control the Verona Beach area) Alongside them was Antonio DeLuca, a soldier under Giuseppe, a highly experienced consigliere who does not hold a capo title but wields significant influence thanks to his old political and commercial connections. These four individuals laid the foundation for the Corlenesi era after 1993 — a period in which the organization no longer operated with the brutality of the past, but instead shifted into a semi-underground, semi-legitimate structure, infiltrating finance, real estate, logistics, and international investment. After Riina’s arrest, many believed that Bernardo Provenzano — one of the remaining powerful figures — would become the organization’s coordinator. But unlike Riina’s arrogant public presence, Provenzano lived in seclusion, constantly moving, and communicating only through small paper notes (“pizzini”). He remained a fugitive for over 40 years, becoming one of the longest-hunted individuals in Europe. In 2006, Provenzano was arrested during a prolonged surveillance operation: – Police tracked supply signals and the notes he used for communication – They monitored couriers and intermediaries – Eventually, they identified the rural location near Corleone where he was hiding There were no shootouts and no chaos — he was arrested at an old age, living quietly in a simple farmhouse. (This is historical information and contains no sensitive or dangerous operational detail.) Provenzano’s arrest effectively ended the old era of leadership. (Technological transition period 2008–2015) As the old bosses were captured or faded away, Giuseppe Bianchi, Andrusha Borjn, Massimo Motisi, and Antonio DeLuca began redistributing the power structure. They no longer wanted an “iron-fisted empire” like Riina’s, nor the slow decay of Provenzano’s era — instead, they aimed for a discreet, intelligent, and flexible model. Bianchi focused on controlling information, networks, and underground economic flows. Motisi expanded influence into legitimate sectors: warehouses, transport, and real estate. Borjn built the Eastern European branch — in regions experiencing heavy post-Soviet upheaval. DeLuca became the stabilizer: maintaining peace among the capos and handling political risks. Thanks to this combination, the Corlenesi survived major European crises: the 1997 financial turbulence, the 2008 shock, and the explosion of modern technology after 2015 and towards 2025.
