Can we bring back the old playerbase count?

Regarding the crashes and server stability, I know this is a huge concern and turn-off for people. When the third crash happens in a row, you tend not to want to log back in again for the fourth.

We’ve been trying really hard to get rid of all the issues that we’ve been facing, especially with the script. We’ve fixed a lot of things so far, but new things do reappear and we fix them as soon as we can. We’ve not had many script related crashes recently, which is great.

The recent lag and instability is coming from the host side of things. @Mmartin has put some pretty comprehensive updates in the #updates channel on Discord if you’d like to check that out.

tldr: we’re working on the instability. we’re moving to a new IP asap that should fix the recent server lag

SAMP is super Niche amongst english speaking gamers & the roleplay scene is pretty niche too. Combining these two you're left with a community that has very limited growth potential. On top of that, being a fairly hardcore roleplay server (By todays standards atleast) it's very difficult for new players to adjust especially when there's a plethora of RP servers that don't encourage a realistic approach but rather a "Fun" & "Quirky" approach of "Roleplay whatever you want!". But, I do think there's a few USP's that SAMP & LSRP has that need to be capitalised on.

1) Easy accessibility. GTA SA is so easy to crack, it's basically free & virtually any computer nowadays can run SAMP at a more than stable frame rate, something that cannot be said for other roleplay games such as FIVEM, RAGE, G-Mod, ARMA etc. This is one of the only RP games that pretty much ANYBODY can run on ANY System and it's actually what made me play this back in 2015 for the first time, I had a piece of shit laptop and I always had a fascination for RP games but I couldn't run any of them, today with a high-end PC I still choose to play LSRP over any other RPing game and I think that this can be a massive selling point for the server.

2) The RP scene: The scene is growing, something I never would have thought would happen! Back in 2016/2017 I never thought that RP on GTA had even a chance of blowing because of how fucking nerdy it really is. But here we are, 2024 and GTA RP is on a steady incline, everyone wants to play it & there's massive communities built around RP, unfortunately it's all on GTA V, but as mentioned above, the accessibility to playing a modded GTA V server is limited to those with the correct hardware. IF there was ever a time for LSRP to swoop in, it'd definitely be NOW.

3) The Past: Someone has already mentioned this and I really think that someone needs to put on their big boy pants and fucking do it already. There's over 100,000 unique members with LSRP accounts, get that fucking email list and send out emails every update! Let people know that LSRP is back! I'm sure there's still thousands of people out there who just don't know that LSRP has made a comeback!

This community is more than salvageable, there just needs to be an action plan put into place. We're struggling to maintain 200 players now and honestly at this rate by February next year we may struggle to keep the population above 100, It'd be a massive shame to see the community go out like that (Again) so I really do hope that steps will be taken in the right direction...

And the FINAL point, the LSRP admins clearly are trying SOMETHING, they've recently created a "content creator" programme for players to submit content to their instagram in an effort to help promote the server, it's up to us to also help out in trying to uphold the PB not just the admins, they have lives just as much as we do, if we can all come together (lol) maybe we can make it happen.

Yes please...I think there's a good amount of people who aren't even aware that LSRP has been revived. If it wasn't for my friend telling me I would've never known.

I think illegal factions must have a possibility to recruit people in discord, there's channel for legal factions only.New members don't know about forum well. Also i think we need to pay free donate credits and support illegal factions they have to recruit a new people because it's like afk people waiting for some movement and  they don't find it and just leave the project you can say bad things about pizza idlestacks about mass dm and non-rp but it was the most alive place where you could find some friends and join illegal factions. So the problem is not about count of  people on the server the problem there's no movments for a new people they just don't know what to do . Think we need a few illegal faction which will recruit a new random playrs just from the streets and make game for them.

A system should definitely be put in place with a email list for every update or that the server has reopened. LSRP still has the potential to be great. +1 on this comment

It’ll not come back until a real change is made here, and not scriptwisely. The staff team needs a clean and not saying about anyone personally, it’s just 100% of them take weeks to answer to ban appeals, taking their time meanwhile people constantly wait, taking time on accepting new characters, any player nowadays have a handgun on him or any access to make anything they want.
They need to hear the players out, taking ideas and recommendations and ways to make the server a little better with our ideas.

LS-RP is a great server, it just needs some good old lead and actually care more of the players.

Only people that are playing SA-MP in 2024 are either from Russia or Eastern Europe. It will not make a comeback or reach 700 player base. LS-RP SAMP is almost over and so is SA-MP. Majority of players who know about this server is over 30 years old now 😄 Roleplaying gangs on a 20 years old game with people who do not know proper English or know anything about LA gang culture? No thanks 😄 You can keep the SA-MP server for the "hardcore" fans though it will not last very long before the hardcore players quit on this game. After 15 years of playing daily here - things get boring? GTA V server with 400-500 players would be awesome. Every roleplay you can imagine was done here on the server (GTA V role play would be fresh compared to LS-RP's sa-mp), GTA:SA map - my worst nightmare, the game itself is old and does not have as much development opportunity as GTA V. People like to say GTA VI is coming out so forget the GTA V. All I'm saying I'd rather jump off a bridge than turn on SA-MP again. How can people enjoy such a poor experience? If the management is down to bring it to a next level - I'd say give GTA V a try?

P.S.: If you and your friends enjoy playing SA-MP - please don't get me wrong - play it as much as you like bro!

Explaining myself - if community is playing SA-MP and wants SA-MP - nothing wrong with that, keep playing! Though I could suggest that GTA V would provide a more immersive experience.

Most of the staff team is great and put a lot of work in, even if you don't directly see that. Compared to previous years, it's much better.

Saying that, I think there definitely needs to be a mindset shift from trying to grow, to retaining the players that are already here.

There's a lot of old practices still in place that are limiting the longevity of the server, not limited to:

  • Taking weeks to get a reply on features needed to benefit current roleplay (leasing and similar applications)
  • Leaving ban appeals unanswered for long periods
  • Banning for excessively long times that are no longer viable

In 2024, it'll never hit those numbers again, but bit by bit the player count is dropping and I believe the above contributes to that when there are now other options available for people to play. Pair that with an obvious drop in quality, something needs to change before LS-RP is no longer why LS-RP was great.

nowadays lsrp has dropped the standards when it comes to accepting new players but that still didn't help up the playerbase count, what more if they kept the old system

600 people would be nice during peak hours, would be sick to see that again....

but as a northern european, it hurts my soul when I log on from 15:00 to 21:00 at night I see maybe 50 players online to maybe 120 people at most, which is super sad.  ( It's like the player count when the server shut down 4 years ago)

The server is very active on the american side, I often see 200+

so i'm feeling alot of the european players have vanished and for some reason not returning like the americans do? dunno.

I can only speak for myself, but i'm often about to log in, but see 50 players online, and it'll choose to wait until maybe 22:00 ( in a weekend only ) to log on, so I know there's more people to interact with and the city doesn't feel unusually dead and empty.

To put my two pence in here and a few people are on the same wave, I believe an effort should be made like Nasty said to revive the PB somehow, in my opinion what harm can it do? Alot of us love the server and alot of folks would come back for the nostalgia aspect of it or maybe they might want a break from world?

There is a high volume of people and very high volume at that, that don't even know LSRP is back, I believe an effort should be made in the form of advertising potentially, send out a chunk email, post some YouTube vids, stuff along those lines.

What harm can it really do? Even if it brought back 150 players, it's better than what is going on right now. Just my two pence but I strongly believe along with others and effort should be made my management to revive it somehow, again what harm can it actually do giving it a go? @Mmartin
