I joined in mid 2016 when I was 15. Prior to LSRP, I had never played on a roleplaying server before, nor did I have friends who even played SAMP, but after a few months of joining and a series of unexpected events, I started bumping into a few players who lived in the same country as me and we started playing together. For the next 3-4 years, we no-lifed, sinking around 6-10hrs daily on the server. I'm now 23 and the only one from our friend group that still actively plays LSRP. We still talk to each other frequently and play other games like VALORANT or Rocket League. As for a highlight, its hard to pick one as everyday during 2017-2019 was a blast. Running Eagles Enterprise in 2019 is definitely up there as one of the most rewarding experiences, but general fucking around while on discord and playing 10 hours nonstop in 2017 was probably more enjoyable.

Given the fractured relationship b/w the management and the community, I don't see how the RAGE server will be a success. Treating the same community like shit and then expecting the same community to follow you to RAGE doesn't make sense. Why would anyone trust the same people in charge to suddenly turn good when a new server launches? The devs and management should focus on mending relationships with the community, dishing out a few high priority updates and finding a way to reach out to old players, telling them the SAMP server is back. I bet most don't even know LSRP had relaunched. The SAMP server is not hopeless as some are making it out to be. Even giving the semblance of activity should motivate players enough to stick around. At the moment it seems that apart from a handful of staff members, nobody else is putting in an effort to keep the server active. All of this compounds to giving a sense of stagnation and decline, which can easily be remedied. Why would the community stick around knowing the management's focus is not entirely on SAMP? Adopting a proactive approach rather than a reactive approach is necessary to keep the server healthy at this moment. Even in the Mapping Team I wish we did more proactive work rather than responding to requests if/when they come. Reaching out to players for mapping, rather then being expected to reached out to is what will keep the server healthy in this moment. Even adding little environment mappings occasionally or auctioning pre-furnished interiors would go a long way. A faction thread will get archived the minute it reaches 7 days of inactivity, but property requests, ban appeals, suggestions, classifieds etc. will sit there for months before they are processed. This just shows the core issue with LSRP at the moment and why moving to RAGE won't fix anything. A lot of people left the SAMP server because of the drop in the standard of roleplay and poor management, rather than shitty graphics, which is the only thing GTA V has over GTA SA, so I don't see how moving to RAGE fixes the core issue. Unless the issues at SAMP are fixed, I doubt anybody would be willing to move to RAGE.

The server has slowly lost its charm for the past few months. Maybe its because of the general negativity on the server, or maybe its because I'm nostalgic for yesteryears. Eitherway I can't imagine how a new player would find much enjoyment playing on the server in its current state. It's important to work on improving the experience for new players in parallel to the other issues laid out on this thread. For example, its quite often that the server assets won't download when a player first logs onto the server. You'd have to manually download the assets by going on the server's discord, typing !cache and then downloading the assets from there. I can't imagine the probability of a player going through all these hoops is high, let alone knowing what to even do when this issue arises. This needs to be fixed ASAP. Let's say a player manages to finally download the server assets and spawn in game for the first time. Immediately after a few minutes, they're kicked for having a clown skin. Again, this is easily preventable by having a skin selection menu on a player's first spawn. The skin change section on the UCP also has some issues. You have tons of skins who's models are not visible, and for some who's models are visible, actually turn out to be the CJ skin when you spawn ingame. This is not to mention the barrage of error messages that you see as you navigate through the skins. All of this doesn't give a premium image of the server. Variety in terms of businesses also needs improvement. Currently we see clubs, restaurants and bars open and that's it. I see @Slice doing something unique on the server with LFA, but its not healthy to have only one person carry the weight of the whole business sphere. There's only so much you can do at clubs/restaurants/bars before it becomes stale and repetitive. The way management can remedy this issue is by auctioning or leasing off ready-made businesses, rather than having the same club/bar interiors being auctioned/leased. I have expressed my desire to furnish these interiors for the server before and I still volunteer to do so. The paperwork and bureaucracy required for certain things also needs to be reduced. It's already confusing enough to navigate the forums because of the RAGE and SAMP sections being on the same domain, so its definitely not ideal when I have to fill out essays for a simple request. Similarly processing times for requests also need to be reduced. Like I mentioned previously, motivation comes and goes in waves. If a request takes weeks to process, with the only response being "We'll look into this" in between, you can't fault the players for binning their ideas and moving on. The issue likely stems from the unnecessary bureaucracy that involves the management currently. We have so many teams and heads for x y and z. The side effect of this is that if the head of a team is absent or unavailable, its a blocker for anybody that is dependent on them. Its time to realize that the current management structure was only viable pre-closure. Now that we've grown up, have responsibilities and can be unavailable frequently, its time to flatten the hierarchy. Share responsibilities between different staff members rather than consolidating power with one person. Right now if the Head of Auctions or Head of Companies is on a leave, it affects everybody. A de-complication of the hierarchy is necessary to keep wait times low and the player base content. The server needs to get out of this rut and start freshening up things. Bringing back the billboard system, auctions, leasing etc. would be a good start to bring a sense of refreshment on the server. Additionally, the forums have generally also been very inactive. Apart from the faction threads and this topic, everything else feels like a ghost town. It feels like the community doesn't want to interact with each other anymore, which is odd because even the months leading up to the server's closure in 2021, there was still some activity on the forums. Nobody posts any guides, off topic threads, general discussions topics or much of anything else at the moment. I think part of the issue is that its difficult to keep track of conversations on the forums unless you explicitly look for topics that you want to keep an eye on, which isn't very user friendly or conductive to activity. I strongly suggest that the "View your posts" feature from the old forums be added to these forums, as that option was the sole reason most of us could even keep track of any conversations or remind us to check up on certain threads that we had commented on previously.

I don't agree with this. Management almost always takes too long to give up some control to other players or onboard new members on the team. For example, if I express a desire to join a certain staff team, it will most likely take a few weeks before that process is concluded. Motivation comes and goes in waves. By the time when you're given a position where you can influence stuff, that motivation is probably at the downwards trend of the wave. Had the process of onboarding someone not taken weeks, but rather 1-2 days, that motivation would've still been fresh and the person would keep their activity. Its an issue that has been around for a long time, which is why you see it happen for a majority of the cases. The average age of an LSRP player is much much older than what it used to be. We've got commitments and not a lot of time in the day to spend on LSRP. You simply cannot afford to follow the same laborious processes from before and expect the community to not get frustrated and eventually leave. For example, seeing the state of businesses on the server and how inactive they were, I expressed a desire to furnish some businesses for the server for free, no strings attached, so that they can be put on auctions or for leasing. No response apart from the generic "We'll look into it" response for a month. I don't understand what cons there can even possibly be for the management to still be "looking into" it. Eventually I decided to say fuck it, bought myself a business, bought a donator, furnished it in a couple of days and offered to give it away for free to the leasing team for them to utilize but again, received a generic "We'll look into it" response. I'm offering free stuff as a token of appreciation for the server, but every time, it seems like I'm not welcomed. Does this give me a sense of belonging in the community? No, not really. Does this make me feel like I'm filing paperwork for the government or filing taxes, rather than trying to make some positive changes in a niche roleplaying community from 2007? Yes it does.
