Look at laws and acts passed too though - not just the penal code amendments. There were a lot of issues with how Senate was ran - lack of activity was one issue, but over management caused a lot of the disinterest unfortunately.

It’s something that’s vital to the foundation of the entire workings of the state, IC. Without it, rights aren’t laid out - heck, neither are the jurisdictions for PD/SD or powers any legal faction has.
-
Was that Flemwad or Toretto? I know some got shot down because they were poorly written and rushed through but yeah
-
Kane said there’s no plans for senate rn so… It should be legal from the start. So many states have recreational right now in the US 🤷♀️

What's the issue with the additions and changes being done IC? It's definitely more immersive than them suddenly being added by management OOC. Not having an IC avenue for law changes gives no power to players to change anything IC. I can't think of any times where adding/changing was negative on SAMP. There's checks and balances to prevent anything silly from being passed without oversight IC/OOC. Additional questions - 1) are you guys writing the state constitution as well? 2) Are there going to be set parts of the US Constitution used, like before? 3) Are there going to be any supreme court cases allowed to be used on the server? We had a set list on SAMP and they came in handy

Management didn't really have much involvement in courts on the previous server. But I do agree that the legal faction leaders should not be exempt from answering to someone in character as the previously were.
-
I look forward to seeing it. Is there going to be a Senate to add/change laws IC as time goes on?

When are we going to see a penal code come out?

I don’t think someone cking should make a difference on an IC charge tbh. But I do agree that charges should increase if they’re shown as a repeat offender. I ran courts on LSRP SAMP for a while. Our biggest hurdle was lack of cooperation by LEO factions we had warrants on SAMP - the only downside was that certain ranks on LEO factions could approve warrants. We did reach a point where I was able to reach an agreement to give judges a set amount of time to review them, and we had discord channel to ping for urgent requests (since realistically you could get ahold of a judge for urgent requests irl). Same for pinging for lawyers.

There were guides to the courts written by myself, Morales, and Kotwica that would work very well on the new server. A combo of IG and forum works best with time zones.

I loathed the entire premise of "fighting" the charge being the burden of the accused. Having to contact IA, find a lawyer etc. I unfortunately don't have access to the guides I wrote but I did make it where in most cases you didn't need IA or a lawyer. But it wasn't really used. Hopefully it's established early on to have the ability to have both sides heard - it'll create more RP for LEOs and the accused. I think a huge barrier before was that cops just wanted the action. Idk what GTAW does, as I've never played there. But realistically you're going to spend some time in jail awaiting trial.

Rethinking the approach towards civilian role play
Sparkles replied to Apophis's topic in General Discussions
This topic isn't about the illegal factions or the legal/GOV ones - it's about civilian RP, the everyday Joe Schmoe -
And on SAMP if someone saw you out of LS/Fort Carson they assumed you were up to no good 🤷♀️

Surreal addressed my TA PM to "Sarcasm" bit yeah seeing the subject as "!!!" I thought I was in trouble 😂

Rethinking the approach towards civilian role play

Faction team deals with illegal factions only tho, no? Not civilian RP. Heck, when I had a company that we wanted to expand into a legal faction eventually (more cars, easier job assignment without having to post requests) - I got the runaround because FM only dealt with organized criminal rp and legal FM only dealt with gov factions. The biz markets and such put on SAMP were a good idea, hope something similar is instilled early on. We shouldn't "be patient" - planning things for just Legal factions & criminals is ignoring the civilian side of things. -
Yesss Fuck Tobar but also, yes. Absolutely. Yup

Robbing a bank with events team. Bradley and Rees were leading it, Collins was in the TS channel. TRU found us because our getaway driver refused to drive his car into the water when we were hiding in Aeros unlocked Tierra Robada mansion. 😂 ---- Coordinating a flank on ESD tryouts on the training server via IG chat so smooth that a leader TPd to me to see our spot 😂 -- Coordinating a takedown/medevacs with Morales during a Code 0 sit. We were both field staff in SD -- Watching Salem fly a dodo upside down through the Bayside tunnels... -- Myself and 2 others leading a barricaded sit at East LS parking garage, so well that we all got awards. It was fun RP and a great feeling -- Being part of Maravilla in general - finding the rp completely IC. The friendships that developed there ❤️...the "riots" (which we didn't even start but got blamed for 😂). Stealing Underwood's hat during that -- The entirety of EHC -- Getting to have some good rp after my teen char accidentally killed her grandma (props to Carbon for playing Gran, after I got perms to set up the rp 😂)

I love the sliding around. Haven't played as much this chapter because I'm working a lot plus college

Nothing about your time in illegal RP? 😱

Are courts falling under GOV?

Amen..but what if someone LIKES doing reports. Can they? 😂 If the academies are like they used to be - the exams were open book. There were documents to read prior to attending academies as well that covered a lot of info. While we in RU didnt allow tabbing back and forth or having the documents open during the academy...I personally OOC encouraged people to copy the info into a word document or something they could reference. When we switched to the multi day academies ages ago, that's why we put the documents on the forum. Our main thing IG was interacting with the recruits and doing practical things IG that we didn't want anyone claiming they weren't shown - while back then it was basic laws, arrests, driving, traffic stops, first aid...in the new one could easily be things like...first aid, detainment, how to search a cell - with leaving the field stuff as a required learning when making the transition from custody to patrol. That way they're realistically ready to help their FTO day 1 if needed. Just spitballing ideas. I loved RU back in the day, and spent a lot of time helping create the original multi day academies. Also RE: private academies. They're super easy to schedule and manage. They go quicker than groups as well. Anyone who says they're boring from an RU side shouldn't be in RU imo.
