Well I think I'll say my piece too now. I joined LSRP last year, around August-September I think, on the V platform just to take part in Bellomo's new stint. The server fell apart a couple months later but I had already lost interest after 2 weeks. Script was basically non-existent, the administration was also non-existent because no matter what you needed, you had to wait, and wait, and wait. Fast forward to a year later, I get told LSRP decided to relaunch on SAMP, big playerbase and all that. So I thought things might be better here as probably the staff was working behind the scenes for this relaunch and I gave the benefit of the doubt to the terrible run of the V server. Sadly, nothing has changed at all and it's probably evident that we (our faction) struggle with motivation to even log in. You can simply tell from our page count on our faction thread but we are doing our best to stay on track, given our real life commitments and all. There's only a very few of us coming IG and the rest can't be bothered because even if they log IG every now and then, the place doesn't cut it for them. The mentality and culture of the staff team has not changed since last year on V and some people say it's been like that even before, despite whatever excuse is brought up by the administration/management on this thread. That much I don't know, if I didn't see it I can't comment. So I gotta give it the benefit of the doubt and only comment on what I've seen so far myself. We as a faction have been passed on everything, drug scheme, strawmen scheme, melee scheme, we have a faction complex PENDING from July and when our faction leader confronted them, clearly fed up with the hold up time of 3 months, he's got told by a member of the management to "Get off his high horse". Yet the Nakahara-Kai or other factions got it months ago. Latest is a forum report I made with solid and incriminating evidence where the admin has to just say "He did fail to RP/He didn't fail to RP" by watching the videos in the evidence....That report is left there, locked, it was posted 13 days ago. On any other community you see reports handled in 3 days top. We've been harassed for months by another faction and it took 3-4 months to take action on that. Now we got passed on a business application as well, and no offence to anyone else who posted their application, Bruce Laterza's was much more well written than others and there was definitely more effort into that one than the others we've seen. And that is laughable when considering that on our illegal scheme applications (strawmen, drugs, melee) when we got passed on we were told "there were better applications out there". So speaking for myself and/or my faction here if I may: How are players going to be motivated to join with this setting of things? The answer is probably: There ain't a way at the moment. Just log in, enjoy the nostalgia project but don't have expectations. Is this ^ acceptable? I don't think so. We can all sit here and complain and say there needs to be a culture change, a mentality change to help this community to improve but unfortunately the problem is way too much radicated into the staff team. You'd have to probably remove 90% of the staff team and hire new people but then again I'm sure some of them will retain that mentality because the direction is dictated by the management and the new ones will probably become complacent. An example? Admins who are in a RP scene cannot handle their own situation if they witness a clear rulebreaking and have to make a forum report. The issue here is that the workload is so high on the admins that most of them perhaps can't even be bothered to handle small things and there's an encouragement to be lazy this way and they feel ENTITLED to it. Clearly, this directive ain't even stopping or preventing any bias, going back on the applications subject. I've been on different communities, I've been an admin myself on many platforms/communities, on SAMP I've been for years on TrueRoleplay as an admin, the server didn't have the same playerbase as LSRP, but had a steady amount of players on and it was never dropping down like it's happening on LSRP, the script was superb and interesting and the administration was swift in handling requests. This is what make people feel as if they matter and are considered as an active part of the community. I've also been on Red County RP, where I have been banned for something I never did and they knew it, but they had their agenda so that's ok. The admin team over there wasn't the best either, but some were fair, you'd get answered quick enough and the script was alright. LSRP lacks both things. The script is incredibly basic, the playerbase is dropping fast and the admin team isn't the best either, granted there are SOME who actually do their work but majority of the requests are left on read and/or pending for way too long. I have no doubt you're all great people outside of the game, but this position isn't suited for some of you if you take so long for small/petty requests and then even have the audacity to tell people to get off their high horse when they're fed up of waiting. Yeah, sure, we all have our own lives and I do understand real life comes first, but if you got the time to log in and don't want to do your admin work and prioritize your duty but just want to log in and have fun? Then being an administrator ain't for you, because you should be doing your admin work first THEN chill and have fun. Again, speaking about entitlement. If you want the culture on LSRP to change it has to change from the foundations of the community, which is the staff team. Enable the staff to have more freedom within their boundaries, remove all the useless council and assign each department to each administrator (can also have 2 on the same department and remove this rule they gotta check it up with the other before approving something, at the end of each month the management reviews their performance and their decisions and if their rating falls below 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 you remove them from the team or demote/promote them on performance, not seniority) to ease up the workload and if that doesn't change then look for new members of your administration, continue to release the script updates you've been releasing which have been good so far, make things fun and interesting for people. Give them a reason to say "I'll go IG and have some fun" rather than "Ah I can't be bothered to log in, boring/Ah can't be bothered to go IG and be unable to RP what I want to RP because what I need is being put on hold or disregarded and God knows when I'll see it." The mistake that is made is to think that the administration here needs to be venerated and begged somehow because they have a tiny bit of fame on a dying community and if we need something we don't gotta sit on our high horse after waiting for months. No, you WORK for the community, not the other way around. If you don't change that mindset, you won't have a community to moderate for much longer because people will get tired. Heavy RP server?....Where??? The only heavy RP you can encounter on this server comes from Valenti, period. You go to Verona mall on the Market strip or Idlewood, where's the heavy RP? I don't know how many times I drove past Idlewood or Verona mall and the RP was incredibly sub-par, not to mention the general OOC messages admins make IG sometimes, saying that the mass DM/trolling in Idlewood has to stop or punishment will follow. And let's not forget people breaking into your car every 5 minutes looking for guns. In what realistic world do you break into 200 hundred cars to look for guns? That's Metagame and an abuse if anything and it's becoming so annoying that perhaps if you want to contrast that, you'd have to remove the ability for players not owning a vehicle to /check and /takegun, exception made for LEOs. Do you think anybody takes any of this even seriously though? If you commit an heavy offence you get 25 minutes jail. You kick people for "Not here to RP" sometimes. We had to make 10+ reports to have some people rightfully punished when clear-cut evidence was passed on with warnings. People don't take this serious no more because you're afraid to lose people and they know it. But by doing so, you retain rulebreakers and sub-par RPers at the expenses of the good RPers who will eventually leave because the standards are not what they're meant to be. And on top of that the admins are not fulfilling their duties when they should and leave things on hold for weeks if not months. More importantly, ENABLE your community members to get where they want to be by helping them with their requests, because the moment you ignore them, you leave them on hold or you tell them to get off their high horse, you lose them. Do it once, twice....do it 100 times, what you're gonna be left with? Surely not a community to moderate, so perhaps the ones who should get off their high horses ain't the players but the moderators. Help your community to grow stronger by assisting your players with their requests. If you don't do that, you don't help them grow and you're consequently limiting your community and server growth and neither you will find it fun no more. I was excited to join LSRP SAMP tbh, get the chance to check this server out because I knew some people from other communities who always said it was heavy RP but I never got the chance to because of me being an admin elsewhere and didn't really have time for it. Needless to say that I am disappointed so far. The only thing that lived up to its name so far was Valenti. And btw I wanna say one last thing. Me and him are not friends, we've been at eachother's neck in the past but that wasn't because of me having a problem with him, at all. I've known him since 2012, however I feel I have to say something in his defence. Silencing tracksuithitman wasn't the best move @Mmartin. You can have all the reasons you want on earth, but you don't take action before checking facts and instead go on to claim it's false rumor spreading lies. Check evidence first, THEN after checking the evidence you make your decision, like on reports. To ban him before any of that was impulsive and people can perceve it as a cover-up attempt after he claimed the administration is corrupt. You're the face of LSRP and you can't afford that with the state of things right now. When you do that you push your community to believe their opinion and voice don't matter. I've read your ping-pong on here with Tracksuithitman and despite all of your reasons, you've acted on impulse, not on evidence and that is discouraging for people to see. This is what I mean with culture and mentality change. I wish I could've banned Vesci's that quick when they kept on harassing us rather than wait 4 months. Do we have to think that what transpired is that you guys are admins and if it doesn't suit you then it's ok to act immediately, but if something doesn't suit us we're forgotten and got to wait and nag to get something done? Do you see what's wrong here? Granted if the evidence he provided wasn't good you'd be in the rightful position to say "You're presenting me with false facts and have done nothing but spread rumors in LSRP at the expense of our administration. You had an agenda? Fine, this place however is not for you any longer". But to ban him before even checking what he had to back up his claims? Whether he withheld the evidence or not, he finally decided to come forth and confess on the incriminating stuff he claims he's got. You owe him at least the benefit of the doubt, considering how many times the community has granted the administraiton the benefit of the doubt. This whole thread is an appeal to you to hear us out and work with us to change things, don't let our words fall on deaf ears. Set the tone for the community and the community will then shape to it.4 points

How to approach a gang/reasons for joining --------------------------------------- Approaching most gangs may seem intimidating, but there are a few things to take in and consider that will make it a whole lot easier and feel less forced. --------------------------------------- Take into consideration the following: --------------------------------------- The residence of your character His/her capabilities Mindset Financial situation Social status --------------------------------------- When attempting to join a gang, it wouldn’t be the best idea to try to start up as a hardened criminal or being well off, gang members are usually young, broke, and susceptible, you are either looking for gratification(to feel wanted by a group of people) or looking to come up and make money, most people who aspire to join gangs come from a dysfunctional household, with no real form of guidance. Take into consideration what might lead your characters down that path, what situation lead them down that road, and how your choices may affect where you the outcome of your character. --------------------------------------- Character development is pivotal as it differentiates authentic roleplay from just being a stereotype if you decide to start up as an already established gangster with a full-blown criminal mindset, you would most likely be ignored by the people who put the time in to develop their character or in most cases you would get checked, robbed and humiliated. Trying to become a full-blown gangster should never be your end goal either, just popping out on a random street and evolving into a gang member after a couple of hours of roleplay is highly unrealistic, taking slow steps towards becoming initiated would be the superior option. --------------------------------------- When attempting to join a gang, it wouldn’t be the best idea to try to start up as a hardened criminal or being well off, gang members are usually young, broke, and susceptible, you are either looking for gratification(to feel wanted by a group of people) or looking to come up and make money, most people who aspire to join gangs come from a dysfunctional household, with no real form of guidance. Trying to become a full-blown gangster should never be your end goal either, just popping out on a random street and evolving into a gang member after a couple of hours of roleplay is highly unrealistic, taking slow steps towards becoming initiated would be the superior option. --------------------------------------- In relation to approaching gangs, roleplaying coming from another state or city is highly unrealistic, why would somebody take a road trip or buy a plane ticket to end up in a poor and disenfranchised environment? The best option would be to roleplay being from the area, roleplaying being from another part of Los Santos could work if your character had to migrate with a relative as moving from location to location is common. --------------------------------------- The best way to approach a gang is through social interaction or being used for profit, through drugs or any other illicit item, buying narcotics from a gang member would be one of the easiest ways to constantly interact with them, sharing drugs is also an easy way to build up relationships with the people around you. Parties are usually thrown in the community and most people are allowed to attend, you may meet people there who are willing to interact and from that, you could build a relationship. --------------------------------------- I would also like to encourage linking up with people who are already in the faction and roleplaying relatives, as this is highly common in gangs. --------------------------------------- One thing that I want to point out is being creative, you have to adapt to the environment you’re in, there are many ways to interact with somebody, you don’t need a group to develop your own character and provide avenues to roleplay for the faction. --------------------------------------- For example; You could shoplift, get a couple of cigarette packs, and re-sell them in the hood for a cheaper price. --------------------------------------- Try not to limit yourself to thinking that the only way to join a gang is to sell drugs or kill somebody, gang members have been initiated through relationships, family members, music, the list goes on, you can’t expect everybody to be a full-blown drug dealer or a contract killer, some people are just cool to be around, some people fight very well and so on. Character Foundations --------------------------------------- Some ideas for your character development. Gang banging contains way more activities than just violence and selling drugs. Focus on being good at one thing, not everything. RPing your characters strengths and flaws makes roleplay more immersive anyway. --------------------------------------- Barber --------------------------------------- This character cuts hair/does hair to make a living. This character can work in a shop, work out of their home, or go to their client's homes to get their job done. This sort of RP requires some basic knowledge of hair styling in order to be executed properly. --------------------------------------- Tagger --------------------------------------- You're a banger that likes to tag up walls with spray paint, it's your thing. You take pride in embarrassing rival neighborhoods on the wall and marking your grounds with your gang-related hit-ups. It's important to you for outsiders to know where they are and that rival gangs are not welcome. --------------------------------------- Athlete --------------------------------------- This is a character that plays sports. These sports can be an escape from the gang life, something that a character does on the side, or something that a character fully strives for. RP'ing an athlete can be enjoyable because of the different paths you can take with it; maybe you suck at your sport, maybe you're a star player. Get creative when roleplaying an athlete and it can lead to a lot of RP. --------------------------------------- Musician --------------------------------------- This character is an aspiring musician. Maybe they make beats and sell them online, maybe they rap and are trying to get their name out there. Roleplaying a musician can be very unique and is something that is common amongst gang members in real life. Setting up shows, recording in the studio, passing out your mixtape, etc. are all possible roleplay events that can come with being a musician. --------------------------------------- Stoner --------------------------------------- This character smokes all day, every day. They're very nonchalant about a lot of things probably, and just want to know where the weed is at. Because of them being around weed a lot, they may sell a few bags here and there just so they can re-up and smoke some more weed. --------------------------------------- Junkie --------------------------------------- This character is addicted to hard drugs. They may be a functioning drug addict, still capable of getting their business handled and making money. They can also be a straight-up addict that is only looking for their next fix, and any money they come across is going to more drugs. --------------------------------------- Booster --------------------------------------- Similar to property theft, this character specializes in stealing clothes. They walk into various stores and steal shirts, jeans, socks, belts, shoes, etc. Maybe they work at a clothing store and steal whatever they can when the boss isn't looking. These characters sell their merchandise to others around the neighborhood. --------------------------------------- Crash Dummy --------------------------------------- A send-off kid, usually reckless and wild. This is a person that you could send off to do anything and everything that you wanted, no matter how dangerous it can turn. It's evident that this person is fueled by adrenaline, and they like it so they do whatever they can to keep themselves riled up. Crash dummies are more than likely going to end up dead or prison at a young age and are one of those types of people you wouldn't wanna always hang with because of the danger level. --------------------------------------- Parent --------------------------------------- This character has a child they care for. With this, they may be more conscious of their situation, maybe avoiding more dangerous situations due to the fact that they have a child. They may look to the gang for help raising the child or join the gang for monetary gain. Relationship - This character is in a relationship. Maybe a character is introduced to the gang because they're in a relationship with someone currently in the gang. They may have to resort to crime in order to help pay the bills with their significant other. Or both characters may be involved in criminal schemes together as a couple. --------------------------------------- 9 to 5 --------------------------------------- This character has a legal job that makes their money. They probably work at one of the convenience stores in the hood and come kick it with the homies after work. If it's a store some gang members frequently visit, they can hook the gang members up and give them discounts. --------------------------------------- False Claimer --------------------------------------- The person that wants to be from the gang so bad that he/she is willing to falsely claim a position within it. This person wants to join in on the gang because the lifestyle's appealing to them, although, there's a good chance that they wouldn't lift a finger when it comes to the gang's rivals. They're often seen excessively wearing gang colors and heard using gang terms to try and fit in. --------------------------------------- Tattoo Artist --------------------------------------- This character knows how to do tattoos. This character could work in a shop, or work out of their home. They schedule appointments, find clients, etc. This could lead to you eventually running your own tattoo business in the future. --------------------------------------- Robber --------------------------------------- This character steals things. He's breaking into homes or robbing others at gunpoint. You can recruit others to help you with your schemes, or do these missions solo. The items are probably sold online, or to others in the neighborhood. --------------------------------------- Bike Life --------------------------------------- This character loves driving preferably dirt bikes, but also BMX bikes and such. They are speed addicts and often get into danger by wheeling or pulling other stunts with their bikes. --------------------------------------- Gamer --------------------------------------- This character enjoys playing video games and spends the majority of his free time in front of his console. --------------------------------------- Religious --------------------------------------- This character is very religious and believes in god. His actions will more often than not be very hypocritical. --------------------------------------- It's not recommended to create characters that portrays an ice cold gangster from the jump. All these flaws and traits is what makes your character realistic/human. Watch these guidelines if you need some inspiration to portray your character the correct way. EXPLAINING HAT-BANGING, AND INSIGNIA, ITS IMPORTANCE, ETC. What is hat banging? Hat banging is when your represent your set with a cap, usually a baseball , or football team. This is another direct way to know where another person is from. ( If they present in a /do if they’re wearing a hat, or you ask if they are ). In certain areas, if you’re caught with the wrong hat it could be over with. If you check gang-insignias - you’d see what our teams are that we represent— if we were to walk in an enemy hood and they’d spot Hustler affiliated cap, they’d press us, or know where we’re from instantly. The same for our enemies as well— if we catch them in our territory, or spot them and recognize the hat they’re sporting, knowing what it means. (https://www.reddit.com/r/CaliBanging/comments/iyud1s/just_dont_wear_any_hats_in_la_better_safe_than/) Checking-In, Card Pulling, and Affiliation. What does checking-in mean? - If you're un unfamiliar affiliate being released from prison, or coming back after being absent for a while, you should check-in with the proper leadership according to your clique. So your identity, and affiliation isn't a confusion to anyone, avoiding issues, etc. What is card pulling, what happens if I get mine pulled? - Your card can be pulled for multiple reasons, they aren't all the worst case scenario. Often times you'll be asked to spit your handle, or the statement announcing your affiliation, (Below) , mostly when you're unfamiliar, being called out, getting disciplined, etc. If you are asked, just recite the statement accordingly.2 points

This was originally intended as a response to gyzo's "Can we bring back the old playerbase count?" topic but after I completed the post I felt it was worthy of its own topic. A VISION FOR THE FUTURE: Achieving peak LSRP activity numbers is probably an unrealistic goal given the landscape of the RP scene nowadays, but I do believe there are steps that can be taken to maintain and build upon the current player base. There have been plenty of solid ideas here and elsewhere on the forums that can help bring about positive change in different aspects of LSRP, but my post is going to be focused on the big picture and what all of us can do—players and admins alike—to help LSRP reach its true potential. To touch briefly on why I personally returned to LSRP: it was for Valenti much more so than it was for LSRP or SAMP. In the past, I have publicly voiced my displeasure with LSRP staff. I was very skeptical of the LSRP comeback and thought it was simply a last-ditch marketing gimmick for the GTAV server; I didn’t think it would be successful and had no interest in rejoining until countless Valenti members reached out urging me to reopen the faction. I went through with it and I’m glad I did because the server has exceeded our expectations so far and has allowed us to make a serious comeback as a faction. Upon our return with how accommodating the staff was setting us up with official status and swiftly handling requests, it was the first time since I joined Valenti in 2011 that I felt we were finally getting the respect we deserve as the longest-standing and most renowned faction on the server. Unfortunately, with lengthy delays and several questionable rulings against us recently, this feeling has dissipated to a degree, but I am still of the belief that the staff team is doing a better job than they have in most previous eras. Regardless of player count, LSRP still has major potential and I believe we can make this final era something special if we all work together. CULTURE SHIFT With that said, everyone needs to remember that the admins are volunteers and we need to adjust our expectations accordingly. The admin team makes LSRP possible and we need to be grateful for that. We need to squash this “us vs. them” mentality that drives a wedge between the players and admins, and we all need to start pulling the rope in the same direction. A clear vision for the future needs to be outlined and at the center of that needs to be a cultural shift that brings the community together as one team working towards the common goal of making the best role-play experience possible. LSRP having a smaller player base doesn’t mean the community doesn’t have room to grow and it isn’t something we should dwell on; instead, we need to look at this as a prime opportunity to build the foundation upon which the new era of LSRP can be built. The success of this server has always been a team effort and that will need to be even more pronounced this time around to ensure we have a community that is sustainable and has room to grow. FACTION SCENE The faction scene and the great factions in particular have always been the main driver of LSRP’s success. We are currently in a good spot with several long-standing official factions and some solid new factions on the come-up. This kind of continuity of characters and factions is key to creating an immersive, realistic, cohesive, and sustainable role-play environment. To maintain and improve upon the current state of the faction scene, everyone needs to play their part. To build strong, quality factions, people need to consider joining the existing factions instead of creating new ones. Only those who are experienced and qualified should be making new factions with the intent of filling a gap in the current faction scene, but we need to be cautious not to oversaturate certain genres. Faction leaders need to create factions with purpose and meaning, the average player needs to stay IC and focus on the realistic development of their character, and the admins need to incentivize, reward, and help facilitate quality role-play. The standard for achieving official status needs to remain high and admins shouldn’t feel pressured to lower the bar in order to appease to players out of desperation. High standards for official factions ensures a healthy faction scene and lowering the bar will create for weaker, unsustainable factions, as has been seen in the past. Unofficial factions now have plenty of schemes they can apply for and it’s certainly a good thing to reward good performance and give people the tools they need to role-play, but only the best faction(s) in each genre should represent LSRP as an official faction. On the other hand, toxic factions need to be disciplined, and if improvement isn’t seen in quick order, they need to be shut down. LSRP has been doing a good job with this as of late and I have seen the benefits first-hand in the LCN scene. The description of a long-time official crime family that was notorious for rule breaking and subpar role-play early on in the LSRP comeback set the tone. That faction in particular has since improved and are making positive contributions to the role-play. The recent shutdown of another toxic LCN faction was another step in the right direction. The LCN scene is experiencing one of its better eras right now and that is in large part thanks to LSRP bringing the hammer down on these problematic factions. In order to optimize the faction scene, I would like to suggest a revamp of the Faction Team structure as seen below: Head of Factions and/or Faction Team Council Official faction leaders (1 from each official faction) The most qualified admins and players with ample faction experience Testers/admins who serve the purpose of handling requests in a timely fashion The most notable change is the involvement of the official faction leaders. When LSRP was in its heyday and on an upward trajectory, there wasn’t a massive Faction Team; there was a Head of Factions who consulted the official faction leaders, which worked quite well at the time. The official faction leaders are a highly knowledgeable group and can bring great value to the Faction Team’s decision-making process. Additionally, this ensures all official factions are represented equally in the faction team and limits the potential for corruption. The Faction Team needs to consist of a healthy balance of players experienced in all the major genres. Many players (myself included) have grown increasingly frustrated with their suggestions falling on deaf ears over the years and, as such, don’t speak up like they used to and have no desire to seek out staff positions. LSRP acknowledging this and going out of their way to recruit the most suitable candidates for the Faction Team (and other staff divisions) would go a long way. ROLE-PLAY MINDSET Everyone needs to adopt the mindset of focusing on the realistic development of their characters. Stay in the moment and embrace every scene. The play-to-win mindset, trigger happiness and seeking quick thrills is not the best way to go about role-playing and it drags the server down. LSRP is marketed as a heavy role-play server and we need to back this up. Below I have linked two threads from the old forums related to this topic: (39) [Tutorial] A case for RPing realistically - Los Santos Roleplay (39) Realism + Character Development = Fun = Success - Los Santos Roleplay MARKETING Other posters have already outlined different approaches that can be taken to market the server and I am in agreement that this needs to be a major focus for staff. Aside from this, word of mouth will go a long way in bringing old players back to the server, but we all need to do our part to make the best role-play environment possible in order to lure people back. While I am of the opinion that the staff team has improved, there is still a stigma weighing them down and they need to continue making positive steps to repair their reputation for some players to ever consider a return. The admins also need to recognize the value many of the long-standing official factions bring from a marketing standpoint. Countless players have come through these factions and people who are otherwise disgruntled with LSRP staff can potentially be lured back by the prospect of rejoining their old faction and continuing their character’s story. Remove the red tape and let these historic factions thrive. PLAYER RETENTION Marketing is useless if we can’t retain the players we bring in. Having a strong faction scene will go a long way in attracting and retaining players. On top of this, the community needs to be welcoming and the game needs to be as user-friendly as possible. LSRP does a good job of allowing players to have creative freedom, but there are still plenty of instances of the admin team being overbearing on people’s creativity. Remove unnecessary restrictions and applications; allow players to craft their characters as they see fit within reason. Factions and players who have made mass contributions to the server over the years should especially be given the benefit of the doubt and more leeway. As others have stated, having the current script-based jobs as the main moneymakers for new players won’t cut it. The government needs to have funding available for companies so that money can be earned through actual role-play as opposed to mindlessly farming scripted jobs. I suggest the introduction of a new staff division or a “buddy system” of sorts committed to helping new players learn the ropes not only in regards to the game itself but also how to role-play realistically and develop a character. We need to focus on retaining players who are here to role-play and develop a realistic character. It’s usually quite easy to decipher between someone who is here to role-play and someone who is not. Discipline and ban rulebreakers/toxic players who only serve to disrupt the experience of real role-players; LSRP being lenient with these types of players out of desperation to keep the player count up is counterproductive. Additionally, LSRP needs to be cautious with how much time they put into the GTAV server. I’m not sure if this explains the recent increase in wait times, but the increased focus on GTAV certainly had a damning effect on the SAMP server last time around and history tends to repeat itself. GTAV is covered, but there is clearly still an appetite for SAMP and thankfully LSRP has filled that void for now. Most of us are here because we aren’t interested in GTAV. The SAMP server, in my opinion, should be the top priority; don’t take it for granted. TL;DR Role-play is a collaborative game and people need to stop being so selfish. Take responsibility yourself, regardless of your role on the server, and think about how you can positively contribute to the community. Focus on role-playing and developing your character realistically. We need to come together as one team to create the best role-play experience possible for the success of LSRP going forward.1 point

The server has always had a plethora of players/characters who can't take a loss and can't comprehend the concept of fear in an attempt to live out fantasies of confidence which they are lacking in away from the game. There are things to do, but there is considerably less in comparison to back in the day, partly due to the stark difference in active players. I'd also argue that the factions who had the most resources were always on top, which is the point - not all factions should be powerhouses and the idea behind giving official factions more resources vs unofficials has always been to push people to network and branch out. It is not difficult to obtain drugs or guns if the motivation is there. The points you've raised are pretty moot. As somebody who has arguably seen the most backlash for their contribution to this topic I abhore the attitude of "this is dead" coming from people who argue against a lack of resources or scenarios to get stuck into. This has been an age old argument and cannot be put down to the current state of affairs. Perhaps this response will serve to prove to the doubters of my intentions. The problems are not with standards of roleplay with the exception of the standards and expectations of current official factions - something being actioned and reviewed by the same team (IFT) that people speak ill of without having the faintest idea of the going ons. I need not repeat what issues there are. We are all more than aware at this point.1 point

There isn't any management to speak of. There hasn't been for years. Being in a management position implies having a vision that goes beyond what's in front of you at this very moment, it means being able to plan for the future, to set objectives and chart a somewhat cohesive strategy to achieve them. As this discussion, and countless others before, prove LS-RP, just like many other GTA RP communities, hasn't had something of the sort for about a decade at this point. Illegal factions wrestle in the metaphorical mud of the forums and tear each other to shreds in private Discord chats, complaining about how bad they have it, but at least there's long-standing concepts such as 38th Street or Valenti who honor the legacy of their predecessors and can carry an years-long narrative. Outside the fort there's no such luxuries, only a vast wasteland of concepts that sit uncared for, despite having been proven to be some of the most entertaining segments of LS-RP through the years, or groups that actively work to forget, rather than remember, without providing anything to replace that heritage. "Civilian" roleplay is an alien concept, gatekept by two or three Weyland-Yutani replicas with interests ranging from entertainment to trucking to private security, all done in the same shallow, boring, unimaginative and trite manner while having absolutely zero impact when it comes to creating roleplay. They just jump from one club opening to the next, from this delivery to the next, from mechanically checking a customer's /licenses to the next, and are all so similar and easily interchangeable that don't provide anything to the server, let alone a developing long-term story that can keep its members engaged and teach new players something about roleplaying captivating characters. The best the civilian scene can get is events like whatever the monstrosity called Wonderland was supposed to be, things that were already embarrassing when they were launched years ago. Government roleplay is all but dead. A faction that should serve, as historically has, as a port of call for newbies to learn the ropes about the server and roleplay in general has been all but forgotten, with legal faction management neglecting the implementation of ideas that can be easily portrayed in-game with minimal efforts such as a Public Works Department in favor of grand-standing, pointless contraptions like the Senate that require knowledgeable and capable players, which are in short supply these days. And even in the remote cases where such contraptions end up working they have been, time and again, either put under the control of a staff member who couldn't care less about roleplaying the Governor or immediately squashed for daring to try and roleplay instead of following the script set by the staff. Law enforcement roleplay is little more than a collection of tired concepts that have been around for literal decades and don't distinguish themselves in the slightest when compared to other communities. It's the same names, the same organizations, the same graphics, and in some cases, even the same people staffing them. Any attempt at diversifying or introducing concepts that, while not an exact 1:1 diorama of the real agencies, would bring more roleplay or more interactions (and thus potentially more players) are almost instantly shot down in the name of "realism" or some other buzzword, and characters are likewise encouraged to be one of the two or three different flavors of LAPD officer/ LASD deputy available to select from, with little room for deviation. Meanwhile the in-character history of the faction is relentlessly erased in favor of make-believe stories that not only never happened, but also seek to remove the efforts of those players who contributed to establish them and bring them where they are today (William Baxter was never LSPD Chief, but Michael Houston was). All of this is controlled by very nebulous groups of players with corporate names like Property Management Team, Economy Team, Faction Team, who, in addition to not being really accountable to anyone but the powers that be and operating under some unknown procedures, don't really set a course for the server to follow or come up with strategies to bring about a better experience as much as they respond to crises. And it's mostly because nobody gives a damn about anything but their own little slice of the server. Nobody seems to understand, or maybe care, that a formulaic law enforcement faction is inevitably going to ruin the experience for gangs and LCN groups alike and vice versa, or that the lack of a vibrant "civilian" scene makes the world feel more lifeless and akin to a Cops'n'Robbers server, or that even low-level government roleplay can provide a lot of scenarios for all the other factions to interact with. If you've seen The Wire, there's a line that should be implemented as the admin's oath of office: "We're building something here, we're building it from scratch. And all the pieces matter." What caused the fall of LS-RP, for three times in a row, wasn't the lack of scripts, or the outdated graphics, or the absence of this or that rule. It was, very simply, a lack of vision, a refusal to admit mistakes and improve, an indifference for things that don't directly affected the interests of those with decisional power, a stubborn denial of one's own faults followed by apologetic excuse and accusations of conspiracy against the server. It was complacency. And so LS-RP, the server once regarded not as one great place to roleplay at but the great place to roleplay at, fell, not because of its competitors, but because of its own rulers. We all sleep in the bed we make.1 point
