Can we bring back the old playerbase count?

I have already made a video on why the state of SAMP roleplay and LSRP as a whole. Yet staff does not acknowledge much of what the community says, myself included. Ive had staff become angry all because I critiqued their mapping. Most if not all the mapping that has been implemented during the years have been overly buggy, horribly optimized and mostly DO NOT FIT with the San Andreas atmosphere/aesthetic in my opinion. Idlewood pizza stacks is cancer and they need to move mallrats somewhere else. The server has been the literal same and nothing positive has actually happened, just more deathmatch, hackers, & complaints about the new system thats been implemented. 

 

The server needs a entire revamp itself if they even wanted to see a crumb of NEW players and not just returning ones for nostalgic purposes. We all know staff is gonna downplay this comment but it needs a revamp and there gonna say “what u think we should do?” and ill say it again REVAMP THE SERVER ITS 2024 GOING ON 2025. There is no reason why the most popular rp server has the most outdated features and wonder why people crash out over mere boredom.

 

- REVAMP Los Santos. Time after time I ask staff to reach out to a youtuber who goes by the name Lisiu, he is a talented modder and specializes in making lore friendly SA style mapping. Staff tried to tell me his mapping is only for MTA but it is not and has been debunked several times already. You give people something new to look at they may just hop on

 

- FIX THE ECONOMY, money is practically useless on this server, nobody wants to spend half of their time grinding just to get a shitbox house for 20 million. Homes need to undergo a new system. We have already discussed how the auction system is abused regularly

 

- ADD MORE SCRIPTS, stop being so prideful and add some rpg like elements to the server. nobody wants to /me out everything they roleplay and a big example of that is a GYM! Add some workout animations, actually give us the opportunity to workout n stuff without it actually contributing to stats, we just want more stuff to roleplay. 

 

Other honorable mentions are: 

 

- A minimalistic stats/inventory system

- Updated phone system

- Updated weapons system (meaning 1 or 2 mags per weapons, different damages etc.)

- Actual staff members who consider instead of downplaying peoples suggestions, i see more people look for bad than good under these threads.

The server wasnt as bad as ppl are trying to portray it here. it was better than lsrp before 2021’s closure,

there was few pros like the dev team and ifm team (even tho the complaints abt spectre here is valid).

I see ppl crying abt both teams here but u will always have crybabies even if ur the most successful, both teams r not the reason for the playerbase drop

 

I cba to write my opinion in details but i think lsrp has done a horrible job with few things 

1- marketing

2- new player experience 

3- handling their admins and im saying admins not testers (leads+ job)

 

u will always have players leaving the server for million reasons, theres no way to stop it.
But what u can do is always bring new players thru marketing and giving new players a good n easy experience to make em stay, but ye samp is old and its a harder job now to do that but u could of done better tbh, but i still know we r not in 2015 where u can easily get new members thru other servers like ngrp pla prrp, etc. its hard now you are alone, but could of done better imo

I'm not going to make you any promises but my future here depends on a conversation I'm waiting to have with Mmartin when he's available. Not to be all doom and gloom, but I just don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

 

If all goes well, then I'll dedicate my time purely to illegal development if you give me something to work from. Writing the script is (sometimes) the easy part, it's fleshing out the idea that requires the communities input.

the transparency is awesome, I hope it goes well; and don’t worry we can flesh it out properly and get it written up so the actual engineering side can be super simple. This is why I joined IFM, to get this ball rolling and these conversations started up again.

I've been a part of LSRP for some time, just chiming in my two cents but anyways..
 

Its both the players and the staff that caused the down fall of LSRP, people who are too "incentivized" or stuck up and entitled to a opinion, alongside with corruption in the staff team and constant toxcity from both the staff and the players.. Theres no reason the server is failing as it is right now.. The whole community as a whole has to learn that you cant blame one side for everything.

 

The developers could definetly pull more work alongside better planning, the management can do better organizing.. Why is it that we have to wait MONTHS for scripts that other servers would only take weeks to create? Yes the script is out dated.. a Script that begun in 2007/2006 enough revamps have been added to this script that there should be no reason that after a **DECADE** of scripting from MULTIPLE developers we should have to wait since relaunch(Pretty sure its been half a year, maybe more.) for simple additions or rehauls, the addiction/drug update why can this not be added right now, as far as I KNOW this script was a already thing,, a simple rehaul to it and slapping it back in the drug system thats in the game would be more then enough for us illegal roleplayers to enjoy.

Why is it that I have to play 1000 hours on LSRP to get 20 million dollars in my savings ( jeff bezos to  'ere gang banga with 20 millonzzz)

As Bandemic said, the mapping needs a rehaul is it necessarily the developers/head of mapping fault? No, maybe.. God knows the community isnt involved enough with these choices and additions to the server.. The last time we got a choice with adding ANYTHING to server was the "roadmap" addition where we got to vote on the UCP.. and God knows how many of those updates have been added even though they been months in development since we voted

There are open source mappings THAT the mapping team can take a note of, talented modders in the community that can pump out GREAT mapping in weeks time, sure gigantic rehauls? Maybe not, small rehauls to the map like what Frnchise is doing in Unity Station is simple a EXAMPLE of what this community can do, why has the mapping team not attempted to reach out( Actually, they have i just dont think the negotiations have went well.) But, I suppose you can see what im hinting at, there should be no reason for us to slack out in these fields. The LS-RP we have now is a edited los santos map gentrifiefed into who knows what now, I swear that the people who made these maps years ago mustve been on crack and opened the mapping server and slapped some slabs of fucking brick in the middle of idlewood and called it a day, BUT, theres defnietlly been good mapping for the LEGAL side of LSRP, Illegal? Not so much and this generally effects everyone, Idlewood has had a GREAT revamp by the modders such as Noel and Frnchise if you seen what they did with the IFGB ENV, it would put the current idlewood we have to shame, in a fucking grave in my opinion, Another thing that Bandemic said

Absolutly fucking true, Lisiu maps work on SAMP the SPANISH communites.. Yes you heard this the communities of spain speakers that dont even have the same PEAK as us and use a copy and pasted script from Github.com have better mapping then us, a community thats been open aslong as Kalcor posted 0.3z half a decade ago

Overall everyone in LSRP is slacking, not just the management but everyone staff and IFT/LFT included, These auctions.. What is the point of them? to release the INACTIVE houses just put the houses up and let the people grab them for 50K or the price their meant to be, god forsake that as a faction leader i have to spend up to a MILLION+ fucking dollars in the East Side for a fucking traphouse.. Thats genuinelly shameful.

 

I believe everyone can see what I'm hinting at and if theres not serious overhauls in every aspect of LSRP? I wouldnt expect to see a 2021-2022 situation where we barely average 40 players a couple months from now, I have to give my flowers to everyone in the team for being able to put up with this community, if I was MMartin and co? I'd shut this shit down months ago on the account of how shitty we treat the staff and the team ( Not like some of them arent total dickheads and have a ego.)

Those who can't self-reflect or accept constructive criticism are the ones dividing the community. Y'all say ''but.. we used our imagination over a decade ago why wouldn't it work now with scripts?'' It's not that people are entitled. It's just simply boredom of the same layout that we have had for years now that is going ancient by now along with us.

In their critique of the server, these two posts might seem at odds, but they actually complement each other and highlight an issue that's been plaguing LS-RP long before its 2021 shutdown. It could be argued, in fact, that it was specifically this issue that caused the shutdown itself, as at the time RAGE was nothing out of the ordinary and other communities were (and still are) a mere copycat of LS-RP at its finest.

 

The issue is that LS-RP stopped innovating years ago. 

 

Ever since its opening, LS-RP had always been at the forefront of innovation when it came to both scripts and roleplay ideas. Systems like DamianC's vehicle scripts or Mmartin's garages and commissary were unheard of, and something so far ahead other communities could never hope to catch up. Likewise, on the creative side, you had absolute novelties in terms of roleplay, things that no other server had ever tried or even considered, factions that players themselves had ideated organically (often after lengthy fights against conservative staff members who only wanted to conserve their power) and dramatically helped move the narrative away from just cops and robbers into more cinematic territory, such as SADOC or Meadows DTO.

 

People wanted to be part of LS-RP because some things were simply impossible to roleplay anywhere else.

 

LS-RP was the only server among English-speaking ones to have a vibrant prison scene, boasting three prison gangs at most times and a correctional faction, just because a bunch of players figured they could try to make it work. Long before the trucking scene was taken over by these ridiculous poorly portrayed business conglomerates, players self-organized into Reg's Trucker Association, which was the only representation of an union you could find anywhere. With nothing but resolve and the belief that going back-and-forth on the forums could be as fun as shootouts and pursuits, a small band of people managed to convince LFM to let them organize a State Legislature and brought a completely new kind of roleplay to light (at least until LFM decided to tear it down with dynamite). Starting from a barebones taxi script that charged laughable rates, people set up Unity Taxi, which was so successful and provided so much roleplay to the civilian scene it broke the longstanding assumption that no business faction that wasn't illegal would ever be given official. When some players decided to found an Armenian gang, they were laughed at, as gangs had to mandatorily be black or latinos, until those Armenians proved through their roleplay that idea wasn't far-fetched at all and eventually earned official status, after which nobody laughed anymore. And although some other communities might want you to think they're the first to have ever thought of turning the docks into a source of roleplay, LS-RP had a working Port of Los Santos in 2015 already, and its security was far less obnoxious than any of the subsequent iterations.

 

There was a constant, deeply ingrained sense of moving forward, not necessarily towards better roleplay or more popular ideas, but forward nonetheless. People weren't scared of exploring new avenues to create roleplay, dismantling things that didn't work anymore (and in some cases even those that worked but could be organized differently), making mistakes and going back to the drawing board for another round of thinking if need be.

 

There's nothing like that now.

 

The server is at a standstill. Aside from a few long-running remarkable concepts like Valenti, there's very little that sets LS-RP apart from other communities. And there's zero interest in changing this, because there's an almost pathological fear that trying something new is going to doom the server combined with a deep denial of the actual state of things. It became preferable to lose players dissatisfied by how things are going by the dozen and running the server into the ground than take a leap of faith and touch a status quo that has been the same for almost a decade at this point. Look no further than this very topic, where the Head of Legal Factions tells people with a straight face that "all legal factions are running optimally" despite the LSSD, again as this thread proves, barely shows face in game, is torn apart by internal strife and crippled by a structure that should've been reformed months ago but wasn't because "you're meant to portray LASD", "this is just SoCal" and other assorted platitudes.

 

LS-RP didn't scare so easy. That's what made it great.

 

The only way to bring back the old playerbase, other than a time machine, is to bring back what brought the old playerbase here in the first place: creativity and boldness and perhaps add into the mix a staff that works with the players instead of for or against them to create something unique. If you keep doing what you've been doing so far, you'll mostly get the same results. And while you can ignore reality, the current numbers prove very well that you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

It’s so true, and honestly there’s nothing more to even be said on this thread anymore, the issues have been raised, pointed out and highlighted it’s really up-to management to act quickly.

I can personally increase the playerbase count by two (that I know of) if @Mmartin responds to @jack and fixes the whole DB issue with accounts not being able to log into the UCP
