Los Santos County, SA – The Los Santos County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a series of recent incidents attributed to suspected gang activity in our communities. Although the incidents are being investigated, early reports indicate that they share similar characteristics which would typically be associated with gang activity.
In the previous week, deputies addressed a variety of calls for service involving vandalism acts, graffiti tags, and large groups of individuals in areas with documented gang activity. The tags are essentially territorial markers and serve as a way for gangs to mark areas of control, threaten rival groups, or as a recruitment tool. In other instances, the events were followed by disturbance of the peace and disorderly conduct reports within neighborhood communities.
The Sheriff's Department is considering these issues seriously, with specialized investigative units addressing the extent of the activity and its direct connection to organized gang networks. Our priority is community safety, preventing escalation, and holding individuals responsible for criminal activity. We request that the citizens remain watchful and report suspicious activity, vandalism or strange groups in their neighborhood. Public tips are a valuable source through which trends are sensed and additional crime is prevented.
Sheriff's Department officials acknowledge that gang activity is a public safety issue but are a minority element in the population. A vast majority of the residents are law-abiding citizens and want safe and dynamic communities. The Department remains committed to working diligently to enter into partnerships with local not-for-profit organizations, and community leaders to attempt to lessen the influence of gangs through prevention, education, and outreach programs.
Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department Gang Enforcement Detail at (555)-200-6165.
