Current State of Company Roleplay
GhostOfProtocol replied to Anasbenatt9's topic in General Discussions
Completely agree, Racketeering is cool. If this is what was going on, I wouldn't have a single issue. Except it isn't. We have factions owning completely unrealistic businesses and then using their businesses to openly commit drug deals and weapons deals. They're not even hiding it to back rooms half the time. -
Looks great, keep it up crims!

OPERATION "ORCA": The Bellantonio Crime Family Casefile

It is brilliant. One of the greatest stories executed and served on a top level! Sad to see it end, but the process was delightful. -

Would be cool if players could host their own games and set buy-ins. That way it feels more interactive and less like just a scripted mini-game with fixed options.

Civilian and business "RP" has largely sucked since the creative abyss that are casinos and betting shops became normalised through the poker script. I've never seen such a waste of bandwidth as a group of mallrats huddled around a poker table. It wasn't much better before the poker script but there was at least more creativity involved before it was added and became a black hole for more feebleminded players to throw their money into. Before it, sportsbooks would take bets on real-world events and the Visage (the original, not this pathetic imitation) tried to accurately capture the Las Vegas resort vibe. If you want civilian roleplay, come up with interesting civilian roleplay ideas. There are scenarios and schemes there to help you get started. Stop repeating the same tired concepts without any creative flair and expecting an epiphany. And stop relying on scripts and virtual money as metrics to your success. Build something interesting and enjoy the journey. It's an RP server. I want to give a shout-out to players like @Junkyard and @Gnarp for pulling off their biz concepts. IBL is still tight too, whoever is running that. Racketeering - Wikipedia
