  1. This definition sums up modern day roleplay. A focus on hyperrealism and an overabundance of scripts gradually replaced storytelling, lore and worldbuilding. Committed roleplayers dedicated to creating fictional stories with just /me and /do were chased away in favor of people who spend their entire playing time chatting on TeamSpeak or Discord clamoring for more script support, staff oversight and advocating for their own skewed conception of "realism". Immersive storylines that lasted months and involved dozens of characters have been substituted with a bunch of disjointed, episodic vignettes completely disconnected from each other that are considered "high quality" only because they're based off an L.A. Times article or feature some obscure LAPD term among hundreds of lines of shallow dialogue. Roleplay has turned from a concerted effort to build something unique into a disingenuous exercise to see who can make the edgiest character. If you have a stroke of luck, you can still find a (likely extremely small) group of players who still have the old mindset and make something up with them: chances are it will not last because of staff interference, community hostility or some other OOC tampering. But especially if you don't, if you're a new player or a returning one who doesn't have the right connections, then you're condemned to wander among the hundreds of shallow avatars, club goers, cop LARPers and other assorted one-dimensional, cardboard cutout concepts that pass as characters these days. The only thing that can bring people back to LSRP and the kind of roleplay it once offered, at this point, is a time machine.

  2. I think most of you are completely besides the point, saying "the server is like this because of [insert extremely specific thing or missing feature that only bothers them and 2 others]". No, the server is not empty because there are no shared illegal schemes nor is it because the phone is 2 pixels to the right, or because of some random legal/illegal feud. Adding all of these features might give it a boost in playerbase before it would return to where it is now and ultimately close. Features are not the issue and adding them won't fix anything - you can see that too, they've added plenty of stuff since this summer (which, again, were features asked for just like you're asking for other stuff now). Did the playerbase increase? Temporarily. Now it's closer to 0 than to the old peak numbers. The server is almost peaking 0 and that's solely because of poor mangement. We have a huge staff team - some truly put in effort and care, but most don't - either way they don't make a lot of impact. The ones at the very top make all the difference and they're... not here. There is basically 0 interest from management to keep this going. That's not new though, it's been clear for a long while now - that's why the project has been postponed for years. As a fellow humble dev, it doesn't take that long to create such a barebones script (as it was at launch), especially when you already know most of the features and have already implemented the logic in the samp server. Very little was actually brand new and you can easily code that on your own in less than a year (including getting comfortable with a new programming language and the framework). There's no interest. From the players either - with how bad the playerbase is, that's the only thing people should be talking about, how to get it back up, yet there's one thread and one discussion per week and that's it - and they don't really have any conclusion. The only way this project can succeed is if there's an extremely firm change in attitude, a complete 180, which won't happen. This means mmartin starts giving updates twice a day and puts in multiple hours a day every single day into developing, managing and playing. All other managers and staff hop in game, multiple hours a day, managing the server and role-playing as well. All of the players come back with a fresh perspective and start opening factions and businesses, there's complete transparency and support for any RP whatsoever, no bureaucracy, amazing quality control. Developers start dishing out new features on a daily basis. Factions become active and everyone puts in a ton of effort. Do you think this will happen considering the current state of the server and the general trend over the last few weeks/months/years? I don't. The alternatives are pivoting to another game or gamemode. We have to be objective, living in fantasy-land and saying "oh, I'm still hopeful, let's trust X and Y and wait for update 9.999, that's when they will come back" will do absolutely nothing. If we're objective, there might be a way, but it's unlikely. As it currently stands, there's no reason for anyone to return or start playing here, especially considering they now have multiple alternatives.

  3. Cooperation, Sparkles. Let me ask you this, do we still get banned if we speak up against admins? Can we talk freely these days? I stayed so loyal to this server because this is where I learned to RP but I went inactive around 3 years ago and moved on, mainly because of unqualified staff and all the massive egos.

  4. My buddies and I were dedicated members who would create tons of RP for the community, both on the legal/illegal sides, and I felt like I only heard from staff members whenever we were in trouble. If we presented an idea or asked for something (realistic requests) that would enhance the RP experience for the community then we would simply get ignored 10 out of 10 times. Unless the staff member was a personal friend. I would like to think that I was one of the more creative members who had only one goal in mind, to create more RP for others, and some of my ideas were cool af but they were all ignored or shut down. This resulted with us roleplaying in our own little corner of the server. So yeah. I would like to see some cooperation from staff when it comes to factions/businesses rather than working against them. In my honest opinion, they should be top priority seeing as they are the ones who bring the actual RP and scenarios to the server and its members.
