Setting Up GTA V + RAGEMP

In this guide, I will run you through the very basics of setting up GTA V and RAGEMP, if your game isn't working or isn't working as well as it should be please follow this guide and it may fix some of your issues.

 

Installation:

To ensure the smoothest experience make sure that both GTA V and RAGEMP are installed on the same storage drive, you can install them on alternate drives but it has a chance of causing issues. I also recommend installing via Steam as the R* games launcher version has its own issues for whatever reason and doesn't work as well with RAGEMP.

 

Settings:

Already installed GTA V and need to move your game install?

 

RAGEMP settings, here is what your settings look like; the client should initially run as administrator by default.

Everything is turned off, this ensures that no additional settings are running and this is what the server recommends.

Notice that the game installation and RAGE are on the same drive.

 

Graphics + Advanced Graphics Settings

The most important ones here are that you are running the game in DX11, Fullscreen and using your monitors correct resolution and refresh rate. As for advanced graphics for whatever reason, running the game at 3/2 (1.500x) seems to make it run a little better.

If you are running into FPS issues, make sure MSAA is turned off, advanced settings (with the exception of Frame Scaling) are turned off, and Grass isn't on Ultra/Very High. In future I can make an in-depth guide to an FPS boost.

 

Graphics Card Drivers

The number one cause of crashes in RAGEMP I see are people not updating drivers, ensure that they are updated through either Geforce Experience or AMD Adrenaline.\

 

In-Game Overlays

In-Game overlays such as Steam, Discord, Teamspeak, Overwolf, etc currently can cause crashes, make sure to disable all of these at least for the time being.

Nice guide, but for me personally the Frame Scaling 1.5x only decreases my FPS

Really weird, for me it's always for whatever reason improved my FPS, even on my old PC. Varying results for sure but you can freely change that in game without restarting at the very least!

terminate services with task manager if you continue to crash, if is not windows, rage, steam, discord or gta v >close it. 

also if you infested with rootkits, that may trigger EAC so try deep scanning with kaspersky and download Process Monitor from microsoft and check if there is any weird stuff going on.

some programs may not let you close them with task manager, open the system configuration window and go to services, check the hide windows services and turn anything that isnt window related off and restart.

if you still crash with EVERY POSSIBLE SERVICE CLOSED, consider updating bios to the latest version.

 

Remember, if you crash on rage but not in singleplayer or fivem is rage/eac related so dont waste your time changing graphic settings (unless pc overheating, had a friend that had bad ventilation on his pc and he WOULD ALWAYS CRASH AT THE VAULT WHILE DOING THE CASINO HEIST, try running msi afterburner or your mobo statistic tool to see if temps go above 70º, then yea lower game graphics.).

Reinstalling the 100 gb game isnt a good idea (if you believe that there is a corrupt file, verify the integrity of the game with steam or epic, downloading the whole game again will only waste your time, only that). Try playing other games with EAC and see if they crash too (I play war thunder and squad and those game use EAC and i wasnt crashing on those so the problem was indeed rage/EAC).

 

And make sure you dont have mods in your game folder, asi files or folders that dont belong there, disable also enb and reshades.

disable discord overlay and steam global overlay (settings > in game)

disable all your anti virus before lauching rage.
