Miodrag Stevanic

[Kibera]

Miodrag Stevanic was born in 2004 in Serbia. He grew up in poverty and on the streets — his family never fared well, so he learned to take care of himself. He is your average Serb — nothing out of the ordinary, but quite specific in his own way: he likes cars, money, having fun, and most of all — people he can count on. Miodrag is taciturn. He steps forward slowly and deliberately. He's not aggressive, but he won't turn his back when he has to. He doesn't try to call attention to himself; he just does his thing — quietly and doggedly. Now, at 21, in America — and with other Serbs, he's trying to make a name for himself, to establish a circle, and to earn a place where people will look up to him.
