Introduction & How to Play:

Blackjack is a casino card game that involves both skill and chance. The objective of the game is to beat the dealer by having a hand value that is closer to 21 than the dealer's hand, without exceeding 21, which is called "busting." Here are the basics of how to play:

Card Values: Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value. Kings, Queens, and Jacks are worth 10 points each, and Aces can be either 1 or 11, depending on what benefits the player's hand.

The Deal: At the start of a game, each player, including the dealer, is dealt two cards. The player's cards are usually dealt face up, while the dealer has one card face up (known as the "upcard") and one card face down (the "hole card").

Player Decisions: After the initial deal, players have the option to "hit" (take another card) or "stand" (keep their current hand). Players can continue to hit until they decide to stand or until they bust.

Dealer's Play: Once all players have completed their hands, the dealer reveals their hole card. With regular rules, dealers must hit until their hand totals at least 17, however the casino owner may alter these settings.

Winning and Losing: If the player's hand exceeds the dealer's hand without busting, the player wins. If the player busts, they automatically lose, even if the dealer busts. If the dealer busts and the player does not, the player wins. Ties result in the player receiving 100% of their bet back. A "Blackjack" happens when your first two initial card total 21 (Ace + 10/J/Q/K), this will pay out an additional prize, set by the casino.

Win/Loss Scenarios:

  • If dealer bust, player wins (200% of bet);
  • If player's total is larger than dealer's total, player wins (gets back 200% of bet);
  • If player's total is lower than dealer's total, player loses (gets back 0% of the bet);
  • If player's total is equal to dealer's total, player ties (gets back 100% of the bet);
  • If player has a Blackjack (Ace and a ten-card), and the dealer does not have a blackjack, player is paid out according to ratio set in /bjtable (for 3:2 that'd get them back 250% of the bet);
  • If player has a total of 21, and dealer has Blackjack, player loses (gets back 0% of the bet);
  • If player has a Blackjack, and dealer has total of 21, player wins (according to payout ratio, by default 250% of the bet);
  • If both player and dealer have Blackjack, player ties (gets back 100% of the bet);

How to Join a Table:

To join a blackjack table session, approach a configured blackjack table and press "U", then use your mouse to navigate the UI to either "join" the table, or choose "info" to view the table rules set by the table owner.

UI Transparency: By clicking on the paint pallet icon in the UI, you are able to make the UI transparent.

How to Make Actions: The UI will guide you through the full gameplay, asking you to make an action when it is your turn, use your mouse to select the action that you wish to take. Available actions are dependant on the scenario. Possible actions are:

  • Place a Bet: This is your initial action, allowing you to choose how much you wish to bet.

  • Hit: You may be prompted with the option to "hit" when it is your turn, this will deal you another card.

  • Stand: You may be prompted with this option when it is your turn. If you choose to stand, your turn will be over.

  • Double: If your hand value total is 9, 10, or 11, you will have the option to double down. Doing this will double your bet and provide you with one more card, then automatically stand. You may only double if you have not yet done a hit or stand action.

  • Split: If your initial 2 cards are of equal value, you will be given the option to "split". If you split, your bet will be doubled and your cards will be split into 2 separate hands, and each hand will be dealt a new card. You will then be able to play each hand separately.

  • Surrender: Surrender can be chosen as your first action after receiving your first 2 cards, doing this will return 50% of your bet and remove you from the game.

Game Interruptions: If you walk away from the table or disconnect, you will be marked as "away" for other players. If the decision timer for your play reaches 0, even if you are not at the table, one of the following will happen:

  • If you haven't made an action, you will default to surrender.
  • If you have previously hit, you will default to a stand.
