“Rent’s due. Tide’s rising. What you got?” The Gutterside Crew is a group of washed-up alcoholics, dope fiends, ex-fishermen, and broken men clinging to what’s left of life around Playa del Seville and the LS docks. Built on a foundation of survival, routine, and mutual rot, the crew maintains a tight in-character hierarchy where every room, every job, every bunk, and every cigarette is earned. Everything is character-first. The crew thrives on low-level grime RP, drug loops, burnout psychology, shared space tension, and long-form narrative. Loyalty matters. So does routine. The tide comes and goes, but the crew holds. The Boat Tied up near the edge of the docks, the crew’s boat is an old fishing trawler turned transport, stash point, crash pad, and hangout. It leaks, smells like fuel and fish, and half the lights don’t work, but it floats. It's where the Captain sleeps and where meetings, beatdowns, and late-night spirals go down. Though it can still move if it has to, the boat mostly sits in the same quiet slip. For a crew that’s got nothing, it’s the safest place they know. The Shore Camp This stretch of beach and the old pumping station is where most Gutterboys spend their days. There’s mattresses under tarps, tents made of fishnets, and people too high to remember which pile of clothes is theirs. The sewer mouth near the beach is the go-to spot for stashing dope, hiding out, or sleeping when the rain hits hard. It smells like chemicals and rot, but it’s quiet, and it’s free. This is the crew’s frontline: a chaotic, dangerous mix of people trying to survive. You’ll find burned-out ex-bikers, parolees, survivalists, and conspiracy heads all rubbing elbows over shared bottles of bottom-shelf vodka. Some fish. Some fight. Most just ride the days out, hoping they don’t piss off the wrong bunk boss. The Dryroom Right across from Seville 24/7, on Loma Avenue, this two-story apartment is known as The Dryroom. It’s the crew’s semi-functional flop house: two floors of filthy, overcrowded rooms rented out for cheap to anyone who can cough up the right combo of cash, dope, gear, or favors. It’s landlocked, hot, and smells like burnt rubber and piss, but it’s drier than the beach, and that’s enough. Every room is claimable through in-character interaction, either alone or shared with others. Players can upgrade their rooms over time by earning better conditions through loyalty, missions, labor, or trades. Want a hot plate? Bring one. Want blackout curtains? Cut up your coat. Want a stove? Plug in a toaster and try not to burn the place down. Room bosses keep control of who sleeps where, who pays rent, and who gets evicted. Some rooms are quiet dens, some are dope kitchens, some are piles of blankets where four people pass out in a haze of paranoia. Every floor has stories, every wall has scratch marks. The Dryroom is your small piece of hell, if you can hold it. The Gutterside Crew is built around scarcity, consequence, and survival. This isn’t a rich man’s gang or a vanity project. It’s a place where every dollar, every can of beans, and every mattress counts. To maintain the immersive quality of our RP and support the long-term viability of our stories, we enforce the following OOC policies: Net Worth & Character Creation Characters must have under $5,000 net worth upon joining. This sets the tone of desperation and keeps things grounded. You can build up some wealth through RP, but it should come and go fast, spent on addiction, bad trades, gear, or gambling. /stats screenshots are required at the time of joining to verify compliance. Sporadic checks will be done to ensure no one is stockpiling cash unrealistically. If you’re holding a lump sum, we expect a full IC justification. Vehicle Ownership Members may own a vehicle only if it fits the character. It must be cheap, run-down, and often unreliable. Maintenance RP is optional, but if it breaks down, we expect you to live with it until it’s dealt with through character-driven effort. Scripted Job Restrictions & Daily Cap The only legal income allowed is fishing on the Captain's boat, starting after 22:00 server time on certain days. A full run may earn you around $5,000, which serves as the daily income cap for crew members. Any other income must come through RP means: thefts, drug sales, bartering, favors, etc. Character must be unemployed, with exception for illegal jobs like /thiefjob and /drugjob. Bank Use is Forbidden No use of the bank system is allowed. Not to deposit, not to save, not to hide. If you get robbed, lose your stash, or blow your earnings, it’s part of the lifestyle. It should drive deeper character actions, not avoidance. Search for alternative ways of storing value. The Dryroom: Headquarters & Economic Core The Loma Avenue Apartment (The Dryroom) serves as the crew’s headquarters and living center, powering both survival and RP infrastructure. Renters will pay cash to keep their space, and that money goes into the property’s balance. That balance allows you to /heal in the property’s fridge, which requires a minimum of $1,500 in the house’s stored funds. If the house balance runs dry, you can't heal. It's on the crew to make sure there’s food in the fridge, water in the pipes, and cash in the drawer. This creates a functioning, IC-dependent economy inside the crew, where renters support the space, and the space supports survival. Interior and exterior furnishing upgrades will come through IC development only, based on collective effort, character hierarchy, and what the story supports. Anyone interested in roleplaying with the Gutterboys can send me a forum message with their discord username and I'll invite them to the crew's server.
