How to Register a Political Party

GENERAL INFORMATION

• 
  
  Political party registration in San Andreas is regulated by the Bureau of Elections.
  
  Political parties must be organized and registered with the Bureau of Elections of the State of San Andreas to present candidates for any elective office, including state offices. Political parties must meet a number of requirements for them to be registered.
   

 

REGISTERING A POLITICAL PARTY

 

• 
  Political parties wishing to register with the Bureau of Elections must meet the following criteria:
   
  1. The party must have a Chairperson who does not have a criminal record;
  2. The party must have a Vice-Chairperson who does not have a criminal record;
  3. The party must have a Treasurer who does not have a criminal record;
  4. The party must have at least five (5) registered members (this may include officials listed above);
  5. The party must have a registered address;
  6. The party must conduct internal elections to determine its leadership once every six (6) months;
  7. The party must not have a name that is similar or the same to that of a party already registered by the Bureau of Elections.
      
  Political parties wishing to register should file a Party Registration Form with the Bureau of Elections. If the prospective political party meets all the requirements listed in the section above, the State Clerk will officially register the organization as a political party and the party will be officially recognized by the State of San Andreas.

 

POLITICAL PARTY DISQUALIFICATION

 

• 
  A political party may be disqualified from running in the elections and lose its status as a registered political party if one or more of the following criteria are met:
   
  1. The party changes its name without notifying the Bureau of Elections;
  2. The party fails to meet the minimum membership quota for a period of one (1) month;
  3. The party fails to hold an internal election to determine its leadership within one (1) month of the given timeframe;
  4. The party is found to have committed or aided in the commission of an offense which violates the rules set by the Bureau of Elections or the San Andreas Penal Code;
  5. The party is found to have rejected membership based on gender, race, religion, political views or sexual orientation.
      
  Political parties that are disqualified and lose their status as registered political parties cannot endorse or present candidates for any elective office.

POLITICAL PARTY DISSOLUTION

 

• 
  Political parties may be dissolved with the consent of at least sixty percent (60%) of its membership.
  
  The leadership of the party wishing to dissolve shall notify the Bureau of Elections, indicating their intent to dissolve and submitting the signatures of the party members confirming their support to the dissolution of the party.
