  1. ((Play this one loudly...)) Once upon a time... on the eastside of Las Colinas... The train tunnel split Northeast Los Santos(NELS) like a bullet... you'd hear that motherfucker hustling and bustling throughout the valle... the year was 1967, on the eastside of Colinas known as the Las Colinas Valley(LCV). It's where La Raza lived before the major stadiums robbed our people of their homes... before the wall, when we came across back to our neighborhood freely to work & get-up in our vidas. The eastside has always been... our Gente's home. Raza policed the callejones, they were called Pachucos or Zoot Suiters - individual mischievous Chicano youth that were all through the barrios of Los Santos(some Pachucos go far back as the beginning of the 1900s) who combated against each-other & gained their own respected histories. (Circa 1940s: Pachucos or "Zoot-Suiters" loitering outside a dance hall in LCV that was shut down due to an altercation between U.S. Navy sailors & Chicano youth.) Past & present barrios within Las Colinas Valley; 18th Street, East Side Avenues (43rd TLS, 57th Cyclones) Avenues (Drew Street, Division Street [DVST], Cypress Aves [CAS]) Dog Town Rifa (north) Chevy Chase Locos [inactive] – (became Toonerville) Cypress Park (CxP) East Lake Locos East Side Clover Glassell Park [inactive] El Sereno Rifa (ESR) Frog Town Happy Valley (HV) Highland Park Lincoln Heights Lowell Street Locos [inactive] Montecito Park [inactive] Rascals Toonerville (TVR) Rose Hill Gallows Hill (GHS, HGM, SLS, OHC, TGS) (GH13's Swan Lakers(SLS) clique posing for a flicka inside a beat down track home of the 10 Acres Trailer Park.) One of these LCV barrios goes by the name of Gallows Hill(GHX3, GHS), a multi-generational Hispanic street gang established in the early 1980s, the number "13" identifies the gang's allegiance to The Fellas(Mexican Mafia). Membership wasn't initially limited to Hispanics, although they began to accept other ethnic groups over the years(like the various White residents that have known to reside in Swan Lake & even have a Black founding GHS members known as "Crow") - but still GHS remains majority Hispanic. Members refer to themselves as "Galleros", "Hillsiders", "Valleros", and "Eastsiders". They hang on top of the hill with a large oak tree(Hangman's Tree), the grassy hillside stretches from Claremont Street all the way to the top of Ambrose Street. The hill is a football field's size & a landmark on the eastside of Las Colinas, giving an amazing view to East Los Santos(simulator to East L.A.'s very own El Pino). The nickname "Gallows Hill" comes from the community's spooky treeline that have large overhanging branches, along with the eerie silence that accompanies the neighborhood's loneliness. Tales of the ghost La Llorona being heard wailing - looking for her dead children in the dried up Swan Lake just north of the "10 Acres Trailer Park" - which is nicknamed "Swantone"(a Spanish influence to Swan Lake's name) to locals. "Hangman's Oak Tree" was also the site of the hanging of a U.S. Navy sailor during the Zoot Suit Riots(1940s), adding more dark urban legend to the naming of Gallows Hill. Members are known for wearing Los Angeles Lakers(Swan Lakers clique), Green Bay Packers(The "G" logo), Houston Astros(the “H” for Hangmen’s(HGM) clique or for "Hilleros"), and Georgia Tech gear(the “GT” logo for "Gallows Trece" reference). Members tend to favor the color green in their clothing due to the color of Packer's gear, making green the gang's official colors(as well as the surrounding lush greenery the LCV provides). (Circa 1978: The original Gallows Hill Stoners(GHS) clicka of the "Stoner Era", recruitment consisted mainly between these founding member's families.) In the '70s there were a few gangs present in NELS like; Hillside Trece(Locotes), The Avenues, Wilmer Park, Felton Boyz and many Maravillas operated close by for many generations within Los Flores & East LS(existing as far back as 1905). However, young membership was scarce on the eastside of LCV for traditional gangs during the ‘70s... most members of these long standing barrios were old school cholos or Vietnam war veterans that have moved on in their lives. This was not appealing to the younger generation... & the veteranos weren’t accepting younger members or paisas. The outcasts of these gangs formed new clickas around the LCV, that's when the "Stoner Era" of the 1970s was born... when Hispanic street socialization was centered around parties, drinking and doing psychedelic drugs. Every Saturday night about 20 to 40 Gallows Hill Stoners would head up to Hangman's Oak Tree to get loaded... eventually transforming into a traditional street gang at the beginning of the '80s - after being solidified within the prison system by The Fellas. (Circa late 1990s: Galleros(Hangmen clique) throwing a car wash for their beloved homeboy "Casper" who was stabbed to death by (VLS) rivals at a house party.) By then having rivalries with Northeast Villans(VLS) 13, The Avenues 13, Wilmer Park 13, Back Lott Winos 13, Swan Lake 13, and Canta Ranas 13; some of these barrios were previously Stoner groups as well but not all. Many GHS gang-members earn hangmen tattoos that represent work put in that gained them respect... executioner characters & noose ropes are typical gang affiliations in a Gallero's tattoo work(spooky and darker nicknames are given amongst Galleros like; "Shadow", "Ghost". "Creeper", "Wizard", "Lady Magic", "Monster"). The gang reached its peak in the early 1990s, funded by the sale of crack during the epidemic, but drifted into obscurity following the migration of rival gangs. Gentrification of nearby Hispanic neighborhoods like East Beach, Glen Park, & some parts of Los Flores resulted in gang factions such as 18th Street & MS-13 moving into the NELS low-income housing, taking most recruitment of youngsters growing up in the LCV. GHX3 had remained largely defunct throughout the millennium, but having a substantial reemergence in the 2010s. (Circa 2010s: The original green-lit clique of GH13 known as; "Oak Hill Crazies" posted outside a gang house(Sangre's) a top of Clarissa ST.) In 2012 a small but deadly GHS clique known as the "Oak Hill Crazies"(OHC) - a reference to today's Clarissa ST. that was previously named Oak Hill RD. was kicking up major dust for the barrio & not always in a good favor. OHC was ran by two influential Galleros that went by "Dusty" & "Sangre", they kicked-it mainly at Hangman's Oak Tree at the top of the hill & the various empty lots running down Clarissa Street. During OHC's reign the Mexican Mafia had handed over the LCV territory to a carnale from the Southside Locotes(SSL)... the main rival of GHS, this had put Dusty & Sangre in a tricky position since so much blood had been split between their barrios. From OHC's perspective; this carnale blackballed Gallows Hill - making the barrio weak & held down under his thumb... taking GHX3 out as a factor in any illegal activities. Sooner than later, OHC raked-up a debut they couldn't pay and with most powerful carnales being from El Corona's neck of the woods... the debt Gallows owed wasn't taken lightly. The down-spire continued when members of OHC shot an Emero accidentally(allegedly) while engaging in a shootout with the Playboys 13(PBS) gang in Temple. After this OHC was put on “la lista” or “green lighted,” meaning that they were to become kill-on-sight to all Sureño gangs within Los Santos... including their own fellow GHX3 members who were apart of the Swan Lakers(SLS) & Hangmen(HGM) clique. ("Sangre" & "Dusty" the two main heads from GHX3's green-lit OHC clique.) During this green-light era of OHC, members broke off from GHX3 as a whole and embraced the green-light with arrogance, claiming the Oak Hill Crazies clique as an individual "tax-free" barrio(members even reached out to the Maravilla barrios of East Los & Los Flores for an alliance, although this was shot down). This followed with the majority OHC members going into hiding and fleeing the state... while others held their ground & eventually were taken care of by other Surs and Galleros that enforced La eMe's program within GHX3(such as Negro Perro's Swan Lakers(SLS) & older era cliques like The Hangmen(HGM)). This lead to a spool of deaths within OHC... splitting good standing Galleros within the eMe and the new green-lit OHC barrio(who still claimed Oak hill RD. as their main territory during the break-off). Sangre was killed shortly after by Wilmer Park 13 - just outside his baby-mama's flat on the westside of Colinas. Sangre's death was a huge blow for the green-lighters of OHC, along with other members such as Dusty and "Creeper" fleeing the barrio. Other influential OHC members weren't so lucky and never evaded the green-light... "Ducky" who spearheaded the newly "Tax Free" gang was assassinated by members from SSL in an empty lot on Oak Hill RD... along with "Oso" when he hit the pinta for murdering a Gallero known as "Wizard" from the SLS clique. (Circa 2020s: Youngsters out the (SLS) clique of GHX3 hanging out a top of Gallows Hill at the notorious Hangman's Oak tree.) Today in the 2020s... GHX3 is small, but actively growing within the eastide of the LCV again. A lot of youngsters are being put-on the hood through tag-bangers who weren't swallowed up by existing barrios(GH13's tag bangers write "OTG"(Out The Gutter/Gallows), the tag crew is used as a recruiting ladder into GHX3). Generational membership continues from other original GH13 cliques such as the Swan Lakers(SLS) & Tiny Galleros(TGS) who now have regained total control of GHX3, any past members from the Oak Hill Crazies clique are blacklisted & on-sight to any active Gallero. There's a mass influx of Hispanic families moving back into the LCV due to gentrification of the once dominate Hispanic communities... generating membership within all the barrios of the LCV. The neighborhood's past green-lit leaves a stain on Gallero's reputation within the Sur, today's influential GHX3 cliques strive to restore ranking within the ranfla - and restore a once glorious stature for the valle. (Circa 2020s: Tiny Galleros clique members out of GH13 posted outside the Las Colinas Swap-meet.)
