Law Enforcement

Over the past period, I have observed a growing trend within law enforcement roleplay on the server. In many situations, whether during traffic stops or other encounters, there seems to be a tendency for officers to provoke escalation. Often, this gives the impression that the goal is to push the scene toward action, usually ending in a shootout.

I believe this raises an important question: at what point did LSRP’s law enforcement factions begin shifting in this direction? And more importantly, shouldn’t the Legal Faction Team step in to establish clearer standards and expectations? It is somewhat concerning to see the overall quality of roleplay within the LSPD and LSSD decline when compared to past years.

On a more positive note, I would like to highlight the excellent work done by Code Enforcement. Their approach demonstrates consistency, character development, and a clear commitment to maintaining high-quality roleplay. It sets a strong example of how legal factions can enhance immersion while remaining professional and engaging.

I am genuinely interested to hear the wider community’s thoughts on this matter, as I believe it’s an important discussion for the overall direction of legal roleplay on the server.

I made this suggestion months ago, back when PD’s subpar roleplay and constant provoking, almost daily, led Grape Street to respond with “mass deathmatching” That ultimately caused Grape to shut down, making them look like the bad guys.

Now Harlow has to deal with PD/SDs constantly debauchery on a daily basis. I see it almost every night when I’m in Idlewood, doesn’t matter who you are either.

Gangs cannot function and or properly roleplay with the provoking from SD/PD.

This server averages probably 90 players a day during peak as of late. We don’t need two departments. Drop one and focus on the other. If we had 400+ players a day I’d be all for 2 departments, but we have 90 for probably 40 minutes. Shut down PD. The server would benefit incredibly.

I'm not anti LSPD or LSSD, I think both are doing class in their own rights.

What I would like to see from both is more character development. When was the last time you saw anyone in PD or SD off duty? It seems most of them spawn at the station and go straight onto /duty and then go out patrolling. Like I know police officers work a fair few hours but to have absolutely zero social life is a lot. If I had if my way I would genuinely remove spawning at the station and have people actually RP their commute into and out of work but I don't see a world in which that happens, especially with the ability to respawn when you /q now.

I don't think a rule around it would work, but I definitely think the respective faction leadership teams should be having conversations with people about actively being off duty and developing their characters off duty as well as on duty.

Harlow can vouch for LSSD Deputy Quincy Duffy, great character development by that guy, don't know who it is but he is amazing, hangs around and actually talks to Harlow.

as far as i know Harlows they’ve been happy with SD side of roleplay, speaking of OSSB, though.

I believe that “shift” truly happened due to overall drop of standards serverwide, can’t blame PD/SD when they are faced with subpar roleplayers and dmers majority of the time compared to very minimal genuine roleplay going on.

You may seem to roleplay properly with law enforcement agencies, but you gotta bare in mind the fact that a great majority of LEO interactions result in subpar outcomes thanks to the mentality of many players just unable to let go of their weapons when asked to step out of a vehicle for a violation, thats an example.

take a moment to scroll through faction threads related to LEO factions you will notice genuine roleplay, passivity, and showcase of the actual core of faction all around, “robocop” attitude is highly frowned upon anyways by both factions.

Overall standards serverwide have shifted, PD/SD just accommodated to the downhill wave of roleplay going on.

I dunno, last week me and a few other deputies had a pinning ceremony and went to hang out after too. It's unfair to clump all as one group.

I’ma say it from the SD side, since that’s the faction I’m in right now, even tho I been in PD and SD too. The standard (talking RP standards on LSRP) dropped heavy, I run into folks almost daily that can’t even write English right. And when the server standard drops, the LSPD/LSSD standard to RP serious and detailed like before drops too. The server been Koky’s DM spot for a long time now, just don’t carry that name. Players DM LSPD/LSSD every single day, I die at least twice daily bcause someone decide to Driveby an OSS unmarked car. Economy and guns on the server? Completely fucked up. Folks got like twenty Deagles stashed, so dying to LSPD or LSSD ain’t no problem, they just pull out the same gun again

In addition, folks are bored of the status quo and are looking for someone to blame.

There are no stakes on LS-RP anymore. Get cut off by a faction for moving too heavy? Just hit some friend of a friend up on Discord and he'll supply drop you 20 fresh M4s. Got a problem with another faction? Just close ranks with your buddies and sit on their hood with nametag hacks until they log in. Faction strike? No problem, just close down and make a new thread lifted straight from ChatGPT/Wikipedia.

On the LEO side, the only stakes have been the ones upheld by the leadership. PD/SD members sinking to the new "standard" of DM instead of trying to rise above it and power through it should be treated accordingly. They're the only type of faction on the server with no incentives against causing havoc beyond the slim possibility of accumulating enough punishments to be unignorably toxic players.

The current PD members think this is a cops & robbers server. A huge overhaul is needed because the RP is below par and tbh SHIT & boring now. Constant MG, abuse of 3rd camera angles, being able to see guns behind high rised walls and bushes, provoking, 3D glasses, being able to spot pistol bulges from 100 meters away the list goes on. They provoke and look for reasons to start mass shootouts and then when they die are able to return to the same area over and over and do it again? More rules need to be put on PD in regards to all this trash.

SD on the other hand have been great recently, so big them up!

The only thing I will say at the minute, before this devolves from an actual constructive conversation as it has in the past, is that making any claims of rule breaking on a thread like this does nothing. There are mechanisms to report rule breaking and other concerns with faction members, if people choose not to for whatever reason then issues will go unaddressed.

Wouldn't respond but I will since the person above me did.

A PD officer called ten cruisers on e perfect driving Burrito which had insurance and all, because he SAW the passenger hold a gun(tec9). When we asked he admitted he saw it in /b, went ahead and reported since the windows were closed. He used a modification that gave him advantage. He should have been banned. END.

Yet the person above me didn't even give him a warning or a punishment, just voided the scene. Shows a lot how LEO get treated from admins, and why they come and have the attitude to chase someone. No one does road blocks for checks at night. They don't want to RP they just want the easy "legal" DM spree.
