Law Enforcement

Over the past period, I have observed a growing trend within law enforcement roleplay on the server. In many situations, whether during traffic stops or other encounters, there seems to be a tendency for officers to provoke escalation. Often, this gives the impression that the goal is to push the scene toward action, usually ending in a shootout.

I believe this raises an important question: at what point did LSRP’s law enforcement factions begin shifting in this direction? And more importantly, shouldn’t the Legal Faction Team step in to establish clearer standards and expectations? It is somewhat concerning to see the overall quality of roleplay within the LSPD and LSSD decline when compared to past years.

On a more positive note, I would like to highlight the excellent work done by Code Enforcement. Their approach demonstrates consistency, character development, and a clear commitment to maintaining high-quality roleplay. It sets a strong example of how legal factions can enhance immersion while remaining professional and engaging.

I am genuinely interested to hear the wider community’s thoughts on this matter, as I believe it’s an important discussion for the overall direction of legal roleplay on the server.

I made this suggestion months ago, back when PD’s subpar roleplay and constant provoking, almost daily, led Grape Street to respond with “mass deathmatching” That ultimately caused Grape to shut down, making them look like the bad guys.

Now Harlow has to deal with PD/SDs constantly debauchery on a daily basis. I see it almost every night when I’m in Idlewood, doesn’t matter who you are either.

Gangs cannot function and or properly roleplay with the provoking from SD/PD.

This server averages probably 90 players a day during peak as of late. We don’t need two departments. Drop one and focus on the other. If we had 400+ players a day I’d be all for 2 departments, but we have 90 for probably 40 minutes. Shut down PD. The server would benefit incredibly.

I'm not anti LSPD or LSSD, I think both are doing class in their own rights.

What I would like to see from both is more character development. When was the last time you saw anyone in PD or SD off duty? It seems most of them spawn at the station and go straight onto /duty and then go out patrolling. Like I know police officers work a fair few hours but to have absolutely zero social life is a lot. If I had if my way I would genuinely remove spawning at the station and have people actually RP their commute into and out of work but I don't see a world in which that happens, especially with the ability to respawn when you /q now.

I don't think a rule around it would work, but I definitely think the respective faction leadership teams should be having conversations with people about actively being off duty and developing their characters off duty as well as on duty.

Harlow can vouch for LSSD Deputy Quincy Duffy, great character development by that guy, don't know who it is but he is amazing, hangs around and actually talks to Harlow.

as far as i know Harlows they’ve been happy with SD side of roleplay, speaking of OSSB, though.

I believe that “shift” truly happened due to overall drop of standards serverwide, can’t blame PD/SD when they are faced with subpar roleplayers and dmers majority of the time compared to very minimal genuine roleplay going on.

You may seem to roleplay properly with law enforcement agencies, but you gotta bare in mind the fact that a great majority of LEO interactions result in subpar outcomes thanks to the mentality of many players just unable to let go of their weapons when asked to step out of a vehicle for a violation, thats an example.

take a moment to scroll through faction threads related to LEO factions you will notice genuine roleplay, passivity, and showcase of the actual core of faction all around, “robocop” attitude is highly frowned upon anyways by both factions.

Overall standards serverwide have shifted, PD/SD just accommodated to the downhill wave of roleplay going on.

I dunno, last week me and a few other deputies had a pinning ceremony and went to hang out after too. It's unfair to clump all as one group.
