Jon Reynolds, The Everyday Man
 

Jon Reynolds was born Jonathan Bufford in the eighties. Though not yet quite middle-aged, he definitely lives, and appears the part. He has a long storied life, partly in Los Santos, partly in San Fierro. The early years of his life were spent as a firefighter in the Los Santos Fire Department, where he met and eventually married Doctor David Reynolds, changing his name to Jon Reynolds. While the relationship was rosey and happy at first, it quickly devolved as the two conflicting personalities were unable to mold to each other's quirks. The relationship ended after a couple of years and they divorced. Unable to deal with the close proximity of their daily work lives, Jon made the decision to move to San Fierro where he got a career as a laborer in a construction firm of a family friend where he spent nearly ten years. 

 

In early 2025 Jon's mother's health declined quite rapidly, and he was forced to return to Los Santos to care for her in her late age. While doing so, he left his construction management job and got a job with the City of Los Santos as a Code Enforcement Officer. The rest is history.

Near-Death Experience

While returning from a regular business inspection, Jon was ambushed by a large and sophisticated group of armed men who had set up a checkpoint south of Blueberry. This near-death experience showed Jon how far Los Santos has truly declined since he departed years ago, a city far more dangerous than he could imagine. A situation uncommon anywhere else in the country.

Much Needed R&R

After an eventful week at work, Jon decided to take off early from work and go to an open bar that was on the way home for a couple of drinks and unwind. While he was there he ran into a "customer" he encountered a couple of days earlier. Having a normal conversation with a normal person, a big change from the mostly transactional and business-focussed relationships he has developed so far.

Under Attack

Jon Reynolds was just supposed to have a simple night out, getting drinks with his boss after work. However, after he disappears without a trace after talking to Jon on the phone, the night takes a turn for the worst. It's clear his job is a lot less safe and a lot more targeted than he initially thought, sparking some existential dread that is bound to dig up long past thoughts that Jon has struggled to deal with in his life.

Reliving Past Mistakes

 

After a few weeks of tumultuous life events, multiple near-death experiences, and the extreme loneliness afflicting him Jon desperately reached out to his Ex-Husband, Doctor David Reynolds leaving his business card with a firefighter. Jon as a man was never very good at dealing with his emotions, and David was always his weak point and a relationship he never truly got over.  This reunion was long overdue, their marriage being over for many many years now but never truly settled emotionally apparently for either of them. Addressing this key hole in Jon's life should allow him to move on, but will he be able to? If the past is anything to go by the answer is very clearly a no.

 Reminder of the Past

Jonathan and his Ex-Husband called it a night and went their separate ways, but kept texting each other when suddenly Jon receives a call from David saying he had been pistol whipped and robbed right outside of his own home. Quickly Jon makes his way towards David's home to comfort him, offering for David to stay in his trailer for the night away from the dangerous city. David accepts the offer and they make their way to it together, purely as friends, nothing romantic about it at all of course. However this is definitely a giant leap back to how their life used to be, at least sleeping under the same roof. Will it go any further?
