Vahe Gevorgyan, known on the street as Vano, was born in Nor Nork, a dense and weathered district in the eastern part of Yerevan, Armenia. His father, a low-level swindler with a criminal history, died when Vano was just 12 — officially a heart attack, but everyone in the neighborhood whispered it was debt-related. With little left in Armenia, Vano's mother moved him and his younger sister to Vinewood, Los Santos, seeking a better future. They settled in a small upstairs apartment on Vinewood Boulevard, where Vano and his sister still share a futon in the living room.
