Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The story of Ornell Yards - an ex convict running with the South Central Mob.

Ornell was locked up as a young adult; his upbringing takes place in a heavily regulated, loyalty-bound environment.

Things have changed by the time he gets out of jail, though. Gangsters have been weakened by surveillance and the ever changing street culture; clutching onto scummy practices to keep the money flowing.

He re-enters the Giancana-Hill Organization through the Rich Rollin Crew in Willowfield - a racket ran by Christopher Richards. Immediately, he's met with people above him violating the code that Ornell was raised in.

Christopher "Rich Rollin" Richards is at first a polar opposite of Ornell: A street captain that allows the likes of ex-police to work for him, constantly muscles in on his workers' wishes, and gives Ornell a hard time just to feed into his own ego. As the story progresses, Ornell becomes more and more like him.

He ends up losing his mentor, Malik "Buck Teeth" Lagos, as that one falls into a coma, Ornell also crosses his day-one friend and local prostitute Hannah "Diamond" Robinson to fully accentuate how the mob's negativity changed him for worse.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely" is a famous observation by British historian Lord Acton, stating that unchecked authority inevitably leads to a decline in moral standards and the abuse of power, often resulting in tyranny and corruption.
