Shots Fired on Arbor Vitae; Bullets Tear Into Apartment Wall as Family Sleeps

In the early hours of Saturday morning, gunfire shattered the silence of Arbor Vitae Street in South Central Los Santos, as several bullets struck the exterior of an apartment complex long-known for its turbulent past.

According to the Los Santos Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:32 AM to reports of shots fired near the 2400 block of Arbor Vitae. Upon arrival, they found shell casings scattered along the sidewalk and multiple bullet impacts along the second floor of the building.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported. A family inside the unit — including two children — had been asleep just feet away when the rounds penetrated the wall.

“All we heard was pop-pop-pop, then glass,” said Leticia Alvarez, a longtime resident who lives two units over. “My baby woke up crying. I hit the floor. This ain’t the first time, but it’s gettin’ worse.”

Investigators believe at least four to five shots were fired. Surveillance footage is being reviewed, and early reports from neighbors mention a gray Honda sedan seen speeding away from the area shortly after the incident. The vehicle had no visible license plates, and no arrests have been made.

While authorities haven’t confirmed a motive, law enforcement sources acknowledge that the area has long been associated with Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS13) activity. However, it remains unclear whether the shooting was a targeted act of retaliation, a warning, or simply reckless violence spilling over from ongoing neighborhood disputes.

One police source, who asked to remain anonymous, stated that “it could be related to existing tensions between rival groups in the area,” but emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages.

Residents say it’s not the first time violence has hit close to home — but it’s one of the few times bullets have made it through someone’s wall.

“They don’t care no more,” Alvarez added, shaking her head. “They shoot like it’s a game, but people got kids in here.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Santos Police Department’s South Bureau or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
