Bodyguard 101

Personal Note:

Good day to all. I’m writing this guide to educate the players that wish to become a bodyguard and also the fact that I do wish to own a security company of my own. Thus this does indirectly benefit me as well as I can hire more skilled individuals who can protect their clients at a much higher standard. I have tried my best to present my research in a simplified manner.

 

The Basics:

The google definition of a bodyguard is a person or group of people employed to escort and protect an important or famous person. Being a bodyguard is not what it seems like in the movies, where you are constantly in random shootouts with attackers wanting to kill your client. Let's be realistic for a second, the average player doesn't even have a knife yet alone a gun. I don't think some of you understand the difficulty of purchasing a firearm in the black market when you have no connections. Not to mention the financial standpoint you have to be in to even consider buying a firearm.

 

The role of a real-life bodyguard is much more commonplace. Instead, a bodyguard's duties consist primarily of arranging routes, pre-searching rooms and buildings where the client will be visiting, studying the background of people who will have contact with the client, searching cars, and carefully escorting the client on their day-to-day activities.

 

Roles:

 

Close Protection Team
1.Driver
2. A close-protection officer 

 

Ancillary Unit
3. Pre-searching facilities & individuals
4. Background-checking people who will have contact with the client

 

Second, a bodyguard's function is determined by the level of risk that the client faces. A bodyguard protecting a client at high risk of assassination will focus on very different roles (e.g., checking cars for IED devices, bombs, watching for potential shooters, etc.) than a bodyguard escorting a celebrity who is being stalked by aggressive photographers (e.g., asking the photographers to maintain their distance and blocking the path of aggressive cameramen).

 

Weapons & Gear:

Bodyguards can be unarmed or armed with a less-lethal weapon like pepper spray, an expandable baton, or a Taser, depending on the laws in their jurisdiction and the sort of agency or security firm they work for. And yes, they can also be armed with more lethal weapons as well. This will also once again depend on the jurisdictions, in the LS-RP context please refer below.

Communication:

Understanding your clients' requirements and preferences will help you build good relationships with them. Communicate freely and regularly to ensure you're giving the necessary amount of protection. Be proactive in responding to any questions or issues they may have. Collaborate with other bodyguards and security personnel to offer customers total protection. Coordination of security details, information sharing, and seamless collaboration are required to successfully anticipate and respond to attacks.
