Background: 92 Bishop Bloods is a predominantly African-American street gang founded in the early 1970s on Bandera Street in the Watts area of South Los Angeles. Bobby Lavender is considered one of the founders of this set and fought against the first generation of Crips who tried to convert their neighborhood into Crip territory — something they never succeeded in doing. Territory: The 92 Bishop Bloods gang is located in South Los Angeles, with territory stretching from 92nd Street all the way to Bishop Avenue. In recent years, due to increased police presence, gang injunctions, and redevelopment efforts in the original neighborhood, a newer generation of members has shifted operations toward 6th Street, forming a relocated clique that continues to carry the identity and legacy of the original set. Despite the change in location, the gang maintains its historical roots and loyalty to the Pueblo Bishop Bloods umbrella. Current Status of the Gang: The gang is still active, although their level of activity and involvement in incidents has significantly declined. However, they can still be seen on the streets of South Los Angeles and remain involved in petty criminal activities such as extortion, home invasions, small-scale drug dealing, and more. Deceased Members: Robert “Lil Joker” Gipson, 23 (– March 19, 2010), killed in a drive-by shooting near 92nd Street and Holmes by Ricardo Mendoza, a member of the Varrio South Side Watts 13 gang, who was also killed in the shootout. Markeith “Monk” Wilson, 25 (– August 15, 2005), killed by a Hispanic individual. Travelle “Lil Pint” Hamblett, 31 (– August 12, 2005), killed by a Hispanic individual. Roscoe “O/G Skip” (– 1972), cause and details of death unknown. O/G Bobby Joe Lavender, 40 (March 19, 1954 – March 26, 1994), cause and details of death unknown.
