Casinos / Gambling Parlours

 

I think to begin with there should be a small number of server owned casinos and gambling parlours. This would require scripts for poker, blackjack, slots, roulette. I don't think you'd need any more games than that but you could have others. Further down the line players would be able to acquire casinos and gambling parlours as you would for other businesses. Kind of an IC issue but they should probably require a gaming license, which should be limited in number to prevent 10s of casinos popping up. A license limitation would also open up the opportunity for underground games and establishments.

 

A chips system could be added to add some more realism. At a casino you'd have to exchange your money for chips in order to play, each time you'd be given a receipt and have to pay tax on your winnings.

IRS Business / Faction

 

This might be better suited for the economy thread or elsewhere but an IRS organisation would be good. The main function of this would be to investigate any large transactions between players, as well as any large cash deposits. Some script support would need to be added of course.

 

This could tie in with the gambling scripts quite well. Playing at legit casinos would require you to pay taxes on your winnings (not sure how best implemented to be honest) and the chips system would enforce this otherwise your winnings would be useless. Tax evasion would also incentivise underground games / gambling establishments which would create more RP for legal and illegal players alike. It'd also be one of those things which could blur the lines of illegal and legal RP for some players/characters which is usually a good thing.

I remember being let into the high-school and shown around before it ever even opened. I forget which administrator created it but credits to them of course. But it was really neat and the aspect of it seemed fun for people to experience but over-all it didn't last very long. I'm sure a high-school could be done way better in GTA V with what it has to offer to the development team and that this should be attempted once again for players to experience. I'm very fond of all sorts of role-play and it's what makes role-play fun!

Something I've been trying to push forward too, as far as I know that won't be the case at the time being - putting more into players their own hands.

i'd like to see some sort of system which allows businesses to generate profit based on roleplay output rather than filling an economic demand. scrap entry fees and give businesses the money they need to thrive so the focus is on providing quality roleplay instead of worrying about upkeep

Dealerships, gun range/gun store, strip club, actual Banks (workers, etc) Sales agents, Real estate agents, 

 

A big one would be semi/professional sports including, Players, coaches, teams, sports agents/player agents for each section of the city leading all the way out to each section in the county. ( i know it'd be kinda cringe role playing a sport but just an idea) Sports betting.

A school system.

Bring back the Port of LS/Stevedore jobs.

Also things like Factory jobs and maybe even delivery services. (IE. Amazon/Fedex)

Maybe instead of just a mechanic job, you actually have mechanic businesses in the city where you'd have to actually go see a mechanic instead of just going to pay n spray. (if you felt like roleplaying of course)

 

A few I could think of off the top of my head, I know the main problem will getting people who're actually interested in roleplaying these positions, but. I do have hope because I've literally seen streams of people role playing 9-5 jobs in other servers.

I personally intend on opening a mechanic shop / car wash. 

 

I can cater to the masses with some experienced vehicle-related roleplay. I would like to eventually branch out into a tow trucking operation as the business expand with actual clientele and the pace at which we develop from an RP perspective. 

 

It would be pretty cool to incorporate a "maintenance required" feature on the vehicle system. If you damage the vehicle enough, a "maintenance" requirement increases. This value can be imagined as a percentage.  Once you reach a 100%, maintenance is required on your vehicle and it can only be repaired at an actual mechanic business. You can put their vehicle in LIMP mode and reduce the maximum speed at which they can drive, and even incorporate weird reactions to regular operation, like if you turn left the vehicle jerks right. This way the vehicle will still operate, but it would drive roleplay to the mechanic business and make for interesting police chases too. Thoughts?

I'd like the business system to be real lean. If people wish to create insurance companies, they shouldn't be limited to do so. Get a custom number to call the businesses hotline, maybe even business lease/request could provide something in terms of company feature that we had on SA:MP LS. People loved the ability to request certain vehicles that were posted up outside their businesses. Limo services and what-not. I just want the business request process to be real lean and not limit people from doing what's possible in the real world.

 

I'd like to see proper pawn shop system with self-inventory. Allowing workers with given "perm" to store the items that they got from players. Same goes with clubs and such, in terms of alcohol sales and such. Have some sort of business inventory with list of items.

 

I would also love to see business script that would allow owners to create certain "items". Like, let's say I own a diamond shop and I'm not just gonna have "chains" "earrings" "watches" and what-not, could expand it where I could say... a 14K gold chain and it'd be 700 bucks. And once that specific name-item was bought, player would get a chain that he could wear. Basically, since GTA V got bunch of chain objects and modders could make couple more stuff, we could get same "object" a different value. So if somebody would rob an individual for a 700 dollar chain, he could pawn it for good 400 bucks (or whatever deal he makes with the pawn shop keeper) and store could sell it for profit. 

 

I'd really love to see a flexible system in the businesses, not limiting them and half the time people just get by with "RP", instead...you could provide both, RP and value.

It’d be nice to see advertisements placed into the hands of news + advertisement companies opposed to paying the script 1K. It didn’t benefit the economy or players in anyway. Something should be adjusted this time around. 
 

Players could apply for an advertisement license. Open a company, etc. There should be multiple points to place advertisements. Limiting it to the mall was a terrible mistake in the past. The area was a constant shit show.

There should be several “unique” businesses created for loan to factions, players— Everything done in the past was generic. Every faction had a strip club, a bar, a restaurant. It was always the same concept, just a different atmosphere and interior. Certain businesses should be suited individually for factions, companies, and the general player base.

 

I’ve always wanted to see a solid “pharmacy script” in LS-RP. In the past drugs were only obtainable through illegal factions or the Strawman scheme.  “Player” gets shot or stabbed and is prescribed a script “morphine”. Maybe the player decides to sell the 7 pills, who knows.

 

A hunger script could bolster restaurant interaction and allow business owners to generate cash through script and the player base. Let’s say we need to eat every 3 hours or our health depletes.

 

Clothing stores. We again, paid the server to my knowledge whenever accessories were bought. A stock script would be useful somehow, allowing stores to allow certain pieces of clothing, brands and so forth. 
 

Everything mentioned is going to be hard to pull off of course when the server is up and running. I don’t think we’re going to be role playing wealthy millionaires\ business owners from the jump, the funds won’t be available to open a store or buy a nice fancy sports car. Some sort of mortgage/ credit system would be nice.

The ability for businesses to create custom items was a gamechanger on World as it allowed for businesses to trade for tangible goods and allowed for interaction with items that spanned beyond the made up /me's. I definitely think this is something that should be implemented here as it allowed for Jewellers to sell items with actual value and make a profit, cool weird little shops selling cool weird little things and so on.

I think a job that can be easily expanded upon is the towing industry and it's uses. Vehicles should be able to break down or not start if they're not maintained properly or receive too much damage and need a lift. Depending on who's online police and fire departments should be working with these companies and their services to move vehicles around the city through contracts via the government.

I think in the early days, the important businesses will be the ones which encourage players to gather together. Sounds obvious I guess, but one of the first problems we'll no doubt face is the fact that the map is huge, and there are less of us now. So creating little hubs for people to RP and meet other characters should be top priority imo. Plenty of great ideas in here from people on how that could look; cafes, bars etc.

 

In the long term, some diversity from the standard nightclubs and bars would be great. Some unique things, maybe like resorts? Getting the golf club going? Tennis clubs? I'm so unoriginal I'm sure there are better ideas out there. Just anything new and different would be great.
