I used to no-life AOE II and Stronghold Crusader when I was a kid, played their HD versions recently and got some sense of nostalgia back. I always used to set up skirmishes on Stronghold with different rulers, was mad fun back then.

Don't think I'm geting AOE IV tho, reminds me of a mobile game. I'll watch videos when it comes out and decide.

I‘ll get Age 4 and give it a chance. IG offers it for 42 bucks. i think they did a nix if AoM , AoE 3 and AoE 4. You‘ll get used to the graphic I think. Valheim has a simple graphic as well and made it to my favorite game atm.

Just get it through the Xbox Game Pass if you're looking to try it.

Well basically no need for that most likely. I'll just buy a steam key and play it.
I know pretty many people playing it and cba to start with AoE III / II again since the DE changed a lot of the mechanics.
So I rather start new with 4.  Plus I want RTS people to still put work in their products, so AoE 4 is better selling a lot

Used to run 1v1v1v1 and 2v2 games with friends on AoE 2-3 through some of these golden things that let you play LAN even if you live far away (lmfao I totally butchered it). Had to establish shit load of rules because some teams were broken as shit against other teams and well, it was merely unbalanced for us to continue after playing two weeks. But anyway, golden game. Grew up with it as one my fav strategy games tbh.

I've never actually tried this on multiplayer - I bought it when it first came out and it was buggy as hell. Clunky and weird mechanics especially with walls. I've heard these are fixed now so might have another go.

I like the return to AOE2 style, but miss the storytelling aspect from AOE3 (I preferred having characters who spoke and had personalities).
