Hoover Groovers
The Hoovers. Originally known as the “Hoover Groovers” were a crew of friends that lived within the Hoover Street borders - the Hoover Groovers would eventually find its stronghold along 92nd becoming 92nd Hoover Crips. Soon after they’d ally with a group of young guys that resided along the Hoover Street line from 43rd - 112th and they’d come together as one under one umbrella, the “Westside Hoover Gangster Crips”. Of the alliance, there was which would form the “Grooveline” (90th and 43rd are no longer active.) Sporting Houston Astros’ apparel, orange and blue flags, blue Chuck Taylor’s with orange shoestrings, the Hoovers have been arguably one of the most fierce gangs in LS history. The Hoover Criminal Gangs originated in the 1960s and were originally known as the Hoover Groovers. The Hoover Groovers, have been around long before the formation of the "Crips", one of the founding members of the Hoover Groovers, younger brother was murdered and the majority of the accusations were blamed on the West Side Crips. The Hoover Groovers and the Westside Crips held a meeting at the Jamestown Recreational Center (Park) located on Jamestown St , between Dutch London and 89th Street. Both gangs eventually formed an alliance and blamed the RoyLowe Boys for being responsible for the death. Which, resulted in the leader of the RoyLowe Boys being violently beaten at a nightclub in LS. 

By the mid-1970s, due to their alliance with the West Side Crips, the Hoovers dropped the Groovers from their name and adopted the Crips (Hoover Crips). By 1979, when the feud between the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, and the Eight Tray Gangster Crips, gangs started pleading alliance to either the Rollin 60s Crips or the Eight Trays. Gang's who aligned themselves with the Rollin 60's adopted the Neighborhood Crips also known as Deuces or Deuce Gang's (2x) and gang's who aligned themselves with the Eight Tray Gangster Crips adapted the "Gangster Crips" also known as Trays or Tray Gang's (3x) The Hoovers fall under the Gangster Crips brand "Hoovers Gangster Crips". On August 1979, Raymond Washington was murdered in a drive-by shooting, rumors of the shooters spread throughout the streets of Los Santos. The East Side Crips placed the blame and held the Hoover Crips responsible for the murder of Raymond Washington. This sparked a bitter feud between the Hoover Crips and the East Side Crips. 

The Hoover Criminals are allies of all Hoover sub-sets their main ally outside of the Hoover Criminals, were the Main St Mafia Crips. However, in 2009, their alliance ended on bad terms at a house party thrown by the Main Street's, who invited the Hoover Criminals. Allegedly, the Hoover Criminals and the Main Streets , got into a confrontation, followed by gunfire. August 16, 2009, Dreymond Carter also known as Four Star, a member of the 94 Hoovers was walking from a shopping mall (Roy Lowenstein Swap-meet) on 87th Place and Roy. Carter, was wearing an orange bandana when he was approached by Kriston Brown, a member of the Main Street Mafia Crips. Brown asked Carter "Where you from?" Carter replied "94 Hoover Criminal Gang." and was shot moments later by Brown. Carter died shortly after the shooting, he was only thirteen years of age. Brown was sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison, the sentence consisted of 25 years to life for murder, plus 25 years to life for the use of a firearm. On Aug. 25, 2009, a gunman walked into the heart of the Main Street Mafia Crips neighborhood, on Main Street itself, and open fired shooting Lenar Jones, 29, and Kevarius Allen, 16. Both of the victims died from multiple gunshot wounds. Police believe the Hoover Criminals were responsible for the killings (up close and personal). Casualties Of War; The Hoover Criminals Gang have waged war on all Raymond Ave Crips, East Coast Crips, Neighborhood Crips, Rollin O's (Crips) Rollin Hundreds (100's), and more recently the Main Street Mafia Ups. The 112 Hoover Criminals Gang feud with the Denver Lane Bloods, has resulted in a portion of the 112 Hoovers neighborhood had being overrun by the Denver Lane Bloods. The 1990s, Anybody Killer (BK/CK/OK) mentality and brutal nature, have amounted to countless casualties of gang-related shootings. Due to their constant feud with rival gangs, this is the most dangerous area in Los Angeles, to live and raise a family. They also are involved a deadly feud with the South Los 13 a Sureño gang that turned racist. 

Modern Day
West Side (W/S) 83 Hoover Criminals, also known as "8-Tray Hoovers" and formerly known as 83 Hoover Crips one of the most infamous African American Hoover sets on the West Side of South Los Santos, San Andreas. They've been referred to as "The Raskals", this gang is considered to be the largest and most active sub-set under the Hoover Criminals Gang umbrella. Their territory stretches from 80th and Carson on the north, Macdonald Street in the south, Roy Lowenstein on the west, and Jamestown on the east. Out of all of the neighborhoods Hoover Criminals have the more dominant and active are between 74 and 83rd, these two are the largest in the 77th Division of the L.S.P.D. The two sets stated are currently cliqued to form the 34 Hoover Criminals, but this faction will be strictly based on 83 Hoover as of now. Modern-day 83 Hoover Criminals have stamped their allegiance with the 74 Hoovers and taken on the nickname of 34 Hoover / Tray Soja's Foes (TS4's) and also have acclaimed (MK) for Main St. Mafia Crips and Menlo Crips Killer, to become Mkadass Everything due to fallen member (Mkadass) that was murdered by Main Street Mafia Crip. This sub-group consists of the younger generation from both sides, but since we're focused on (83HCG) we'll strictly focus on Tray Soja's and Mkadass Everything. 

The 83 Hoover Criminals had become ABK (Anybody Killer), as all Hoover Criminal sets have and would be at war with dozens of sets at any given time. Their enemies consist of Denver Lanes, Rollin O’s, N-Hood Crips, East Coast Crips, Mafia Crips, Underground Crips, Brims, and more. The Hoovers have few allies but used to be close with certain sets from the (3x) Gangster Crips card on the Westside (ETGC) Eight Tray Gangster Crips being one of those particular sets. They've currently been known to ally with Westside Blood sets, one of their more known alliances with bloods modern day would be the Hoover Stones, which is (W/S) Hoover Criminals and Black P Stones. Despite their large list of enemies, the 83 Hoovers dominate their neighborhood through their sheer numbers plus their reputation for brutality and terror.

Hoover vs Main St.

An intense outbreak of gang violence has residents of two Southside neighborhoods flashing back to the dreaded 1980s after a swarm of shootings between the Hoover Criminals and the Main Street Crips left one dead and at least two people wounded.  "It's getting like the '80s again," said a man Friday afternoon as he walked past a "Murder Memorial" set  up at 97th and Main streets. "The bad old days are coming back. It had slowed up, but now the kids born in those crazy years are starting to act like their parents.

"Thursday morning, 28-year-old DaQuan Woodley was shot and killed at that corner shortly after 10 a.m. as he was walking. Police and local residents say Woodley was not a member of the Main Street Crips, long a force in this neighborhood, but that members of his family are. "He never bothered anyone," was the most common comment about Wooley. Sandwiching his death were two shootings on Hoover Street that left two males wounded, one critically. Four men along Hoover Street near 83rd echoed the concerned man on Main Street, dreading a return to the violent days of the 80s and 90s. "It's getting really hot again," one said. Thursday and Friday the LSPD was out in force and vowed an increased presence in the area for as long as it takes to quell the violence. "Unlike the projects, the two areas are very large, but we are in suppression mode," said Capt. John Lombardy, commander of the Southeast Division who is helping coordinate the efforts with 77th Street Division and Criminal Gang Homicide Division. "We have a high visibility. and the detectives are working the cases hard. Plus, we're working closely with [gang] interventionists."  

The following story comes from a man who was legally drunk and freely admitted it. Hours before DaQuan Woodley was killed, he called 911 out of concern for a drunk neighbor who was intoxicated to the point where he collapsed  "I got drunk, a little too drunk, and people were concerned, but I guess he was the only one concerned enough to call the paramedics," said a man who goes by Krome, a 60-year-old local artist. "They came and left. But, when I really woke up from my drunken stupor, he was dead."
